Monday Motivational ~ Food Glorious Food!

Welcome to the hive for our Monday Motivational!  I must admit that I rarely feel like there are coincidences... Just wonderful things that are meant to be!  Well, it has been many weeks since we decided that our theme for this week would be "Food, Glorious Food"... it's been a song from long ago that sticks in my head, ever since my kids and I did a church "Road Show" with this theme, and you know how music has such an impact on your life... especially happy times!
Now the fun part for today... I was doing some research, and find that our friends at Splitcoast Stampers had a great Virtual Scrapbook Night this weekend all about food, too!  Plus, I just signed up for a recipe swap over at Paper Phenomenon, which is happening next week!  Food is everywhere! It IS glorious!

This weekend I made the most yummy cupcakes, and I wanted to share the recipe, plus a little tutorial with you.  These are CUPCAKES WITH A KISS!    My daughter, Tori is the undisputed Cupcake Queen, and she shared this quick and easy addition that made a mouth-watering delight!  Let's cook up some fun!

First, you will need a regular cake mix, of your choice of flavors, and the ingredients to prepare it according to the normal directions.  You will also need one Hershey's Kiss for each cupcake.  I happened to have a wonderful assortment of flavors on hand, and that made for a delightful smorgasbord of choices!  Unwrap the Kisses, and place the little paper "flag" inside the cupcake liner so it sticks out the top.  Fill 2/3 with batter, then gently press in one Kiss, and bake as usual.  No need to add additional time.  The Kiss will sink in and give a super surprise center!  Let cool and frost.

For my recipe card above, you will see that I did the recipe on my computer, and used Crafty Secrets adorable recipe birds stamps.  They were stamped with Memento Ink, Tuxedo Black for the two at the top, and London Fog for the one over the lettering, creating the illusion of it being in the background, and not obscuring the typing.  All images were colored with Copic markers.

Create a cupcake topper with two punches, sandwiching a toothpick in the middle, using foam dimensionals.  Can you see the Kisses flag here?  This is a plain Kiss... the Dark Chocolate say "Dark", the Almond say "Almond", etc.  There are LOTS of different flavors... I had 7 different kinds today!

Here is my cupcake dessert stand for Father's Day, featuring the Necktie downloads from Shindig Parties To Go that we Buzzed about last Friday!  Didn't they turn out SO CUTE?!

Wednesday the HoneyBees will be ready to share all sorts of Food, Glorious Food with you, and we hope you will be thinking of what you will want to create to share, too!

Until then....
Happy creating!

Buzz, Brag, and Bee Happy Friday - February 11th

Welcome to Buzz, Brag and Bee Happy Friday! This is the day where the HoneyBees share whatever is happening on their blogs, in their lives, and whatever they are excited about, and we invite you to join with us, and share your good news, too

I had a great time "Tying One On" with ribbon this week, and the mini album above is featuring a braided frame around the oval medallion.  I was inspired for this by our friend, Bonnie McLain, over at her Love, Light and Peace Blog.  I could have linked you directly to her gorgeous braid on Feb. 3rd, but want to be sure you have the chance to see some of her other amazing work, too!

I thought I'd share a flashback Valentine today, along with a very cheesy Valentine poem... just in case you are looking for something for the inside of your card...

Roses are red
Violets are blue~
I'm so happy
That I have you!

Roses are orange
Their leaves are green~
You make me feel
Just like a Queen!

Roses are white
and some are yellow~
You are my hero,
You handsome fellow!

Roses are purple, pink,
and sterling silver~
I will love you
for ever and ever!

Some are red,
like deep, rich wine~
Will you be
My Valentine?

(I told you it was cheesy!)  But anyway, what will you be putting in YOUR Valentine's card?  Will you write a poem, a letter, or stamp a sentiment?

Happy Friday! Love is in the air...I get to spend today with a few of my favorite girlfriends; we call our little group the "Design Divas." We try to get together once each month and share recent cards, LOs, or projects we have made. There is always lots of inspiration to be found in our monthly meetings. I can't wait to see them later today! My weekend will be off to a great start!

I made this little card yesterday. I was actually looking for my SU butterflies embosslit, and I can't find it! I am an organized person, and I am so frustrated that it is not in any logical place I can think of...I opted for my Martha Stewart butterfly punches. Has this ever happened to you?

I used my cricut cartridge Plantin Schoolbook to cut the hearts and I embossed them with the Cuttlebug Birds & Swirls embossing folder. The adhesive lace is by Hero Arts and the paper from Creative Imaginations.

How was your week?? I've been kinda busy, but not 'scrappy' busy.  That is why today I'm just going to BRAG!!  I received an email from my daughter-in-law that Nina got a Silver Certificate and a Citizens Award.  She missed getting a Gold by one A on her report card.  I am so proud of her for all those Bs and the A!!..The Citizens Award was because she is helpful, courteous and all the great stuff in a student that a teacher appreciates. Not being sent to the 'office' is a big plus..lol..Glad she didn't take after me on that one..lol..

This is Nina with a doll she recieved for Christmas.  Funny, she acts so grown up at 7, but still loves her dolls..I love her soooooo much!!!

We hope you are having a wonderfully creative week, and will post your cards and other creations to our LINKZ on Wednesday.  Use ribbon in any creative way, and post there!

The LINKZ here is for posting whatever makes you happy!!  You could be the winner of our Feb. Blog Candy package!!!  All comments and posts will be eligible, and the winner will be announced on March 2nd!

Monday Motivational - It's A Date!!

Happy New Year! Welcome back to the Hive, and our first Monday Motivational of the year. We hope you had a great holiday season, and are ready to get into crafting again! We have some fun calendar projects to start us off...

Both of these calendar projects are created with an acrylic photo frame. These are readily available in dollar stores as well as Walmart, etc., and they come in several different sizes.

Just choose the frame to fit the size of your calendar pages, or a larger one, if you want to put together a double set like a sticky pad, or photo, to go with your calendar.

This one has been created with the angle of the frame making a handy desk calendar to go in Studio Bee!!

Here are the supplies I used ... designer paper cut to the size of the "photo" space, which slides under the acrylic; a pre-printed calendar pad; sticky note pad; mat, trimmed with punches; ribbon. Adhere everything to the frame with double sided tape. Very easy :)

My next project is a small portable calendar to attach to a backpack, notebook, keyring, etc. Just download your favorite calendar printable, such as this one from Crafty Secrets, and cut them out.

Next, mat the calendars on both sides of card stock.

I laminated these with my Your Story binder/laminator.

After trimming, they were easy to stack and punch a hole in the corner with a Crop-o-dile.

Add a jump ring, some cute gems, and a lobster claw for clipping it somewhere convenient, and you have a great little project!!

On Wednesday the HoneyBees will be here with more calendar ideas for you, and we will be inviting you to join us in our first challenge of the year! Here are two links to get you started with calendar downloads :
