 With the nature

Yesterday I took a tour to Saxon Switzerland - the Elbe Sandstone Mountains/Germany - it has been a national park since 1990 and is around 93 square kilometers in size.

The goal was a lap to the Bastei og the Basteibridge. The Bastei is a rock formation with a view and is 305 meters above sea level.

I traveled by train and took the ferry across the Elbe to get to the starting point...

viewpoints can already be seen from the ferry... like here the "Kanapee" at the  Tiedgestein

The tour a pleasure.

See for yourself...

The bastion view

The bridge, built in 1851, replaced the earlier wooden bridge - it is over 75 m long and spans the 40 m deep gorge with 7 arches. The narrow rocky reef drops about 190 meters steeply from the bastion to the Elbe. There are magnificent views.

I see that I've really focused on the green and the brown nuances of the sandstone... probably because my garden is full of flowers... yes and the blue of the sky is missing... in fact it rained all afternoon.

a hug and happy greetings to you.

* sewing and partying *

Jeg sydde en sommerkjole av et herlig linstoff og brukte den for første gang forrige helg...

til den sorbiske folkefesten i Lusatia i landsbyen Crostwitz. Festivalen varer i fire dager i forskjellige landsbyer... Jeg var der med hele familien på lørdag og søndag...

I sewed this linen summer dress for myself and wore it for the first time at the weekend. We spent Saturday and Sunday in the village of Crostwitz/Germany for the Sorbian folklore festival. It takes place over four days and every two years and folklore groups come from all over the world. It is a great festival with lots of joy and dancing and beautiful encounters.

Our first day on Saturday night

5 farms in the village each had a stage

From 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. there were programs of folklore groups from all over the world... Spain, Poland, Hungary, Romania, Congo, Serbia, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Estonia, Chile and the groups from Crostwitz and the surrounding villages as well as the Sorbian National Ensemble from Germany.

parish church in Crostwitz - first mentioned at the end of the 11th century

We enjoyed the evening with dancing and good food in the festively decorated farms.

On Sunday we went to the fairground where the big stage was.

The visitors sat in the shade under the trees ;-)

The festival is wonderful.

I'm already looking forward to the 15th festival in Crostwitz

from June 26th to 29th, 2025.

Did you have fun... I know you should experience it in the original :-)))

I wish you a great time. Make it nice for yourself and others.

Hug Viola
