CL Cha Ching!

I really loved THIS coffee table. Back to what I was telling you about that ginormous coffee table... I measured the darn thing and it's 5ft x 2 1/2 ft. HUGE!!  I grabbed it for it's simple lines and I thought would be great for adding baskets and for the boys to do homework on, play and draw but it was just too big.

Oh well! I turned it into a profit =D

Listed it on CL for $60 but after she walked thru my house for it she offered me $80 for painting it white and adding glass knobs. Jeez! I felt like I up sold it in 5 mins. Remember I paid $1-2 for it at GW.. Not bad!

I have to say I'm very cautious over the whole CL thing and them coming over to my house so, I always try to be as careful as possible. I know it's not a guarantee but I try and try harder to protect myself. So, I start off w/ emails then phone calls so I can bing.com their address when I get their name off the caller ID. If it's a woman and I've had several conversations w/ her, I'm okay w/ them coming over to "look at it" or "pick it up".

This lady turned out to be a total doll! and her baby was the cutest ever. I lucked out she wasn't a murdered =D

And this is what I did w/ it and sold at $80 (she still thought she was getting a deal and was happy)

Do you sell on CL? Do you tend to up sale? Do they ever email you asking if you have other pieces to sell? What is your total profit on what you sell on CL?

Next time I'll have a couple of painting tips that will save you quite a bit in 2011.

Family and stuff is taking over my bloggy time

Oh boy! am I glad the holidays are over!! I thought it would end... lol

I have resolved to start the year off w/ a different financial plan and that has taken over a lot of my time. Not to mention family and friends over the holidays... now we are back to "normal" or as normal as we can be.

The plan this year is to increase savings and plan a couple of trips for this summer w/ the boys. I've been consumed w/ making this happen so, I've spent a lot of time on CL selling a lot of the extra goodies I've collected over the years thru GW and CL.

Unexpectedly I've even agreed to painting some of the pieces for the buyers... so normally what I did as a hobby or a means to save a piece and money has somehow turned into extra income. Has this happen to any of you?

This is the coffee table that started it all

I'm painting it white and she requested lightly distressed... Sshhhh I'm not an expert distressed. But I told her that I will attempt to do my best. She also wanted the glass knobs that I have so, I charged her an extra $10 for them. In the end I guess this will help w/ this summers family trip.

Well, I best get back to painting.

But I will be sure to share the final results and what she thought of her coffee table.

BTW,

Happy 2011!! When dreams till come true =D

Basement Buffet Bar =)

Getting it ready for the buffet... see the concrete basement floor? I love those carpet tiles my parents got for me last winter and I'm finally happy to be putting them down, but don't be fooled; there's still more work to be done =)

This 70's buffet has gone antique white... as you can tell I'm not intirely done w/ that area either but I love to show off the progress as I work slowly to accomplish my wants... (I work to afford my projects and work also gets in the way of my projects AGH!!! )
**forgive the unassembled woredrobe in the way...

I believe the total I've spent on this area is $45, including the buffet, shelves and nick nacks.

Gotta love my Ballard Designs and Thrifty Decor Chick inspired bottles and my vintage radio that only works when he wants to.

Gone with the Wind. One of my top 5 movies. I had to fit it in somewhere (even if it doesn't make sense)

Let me know what you think... I love comments! =)

These are the pulls I want for the buffet!!

It's been a while...

I'm in the process of looking for new employment so unfortunately I haven't had much time for blogging. Life get's in the way! I'm sure you're well familiar w/ this movement AGH!

"Oh dear Lord, when will ye bless me w/ a bigger house to hold all my precious finds" =)

Here a few pieces I want to work on before school starts...

This is a CL find.

This is a GW find;

She is a beauty and smells delish. No dents, no scratches and she is all mine. Don't be mad, but I will paint her flowers away. It's just not my steelo =)

Metal Mirror I must paint!

 The silver metal does not go well on that space. So white she will be.

Kitchen door that needs painting, since I can't find the perfect glass door to put there;

Bdrm dresser that will go white; because once you go white you never go back. =)

Another unfinished project;

I reclaimed it from the one of the boys room. I have to remove all those spiderman stickers, sand prime and paint. I'm not certain what color to give it yet.

I still have a desk, shelf and more that needs to be painted in the garage.

My deadline is end of October or by end of 2010... LOL

Side tables = Coffee Table

I found these side tables at the GW last summer. I asked them to lower the price (they know me there for ALWAYS asking for a lower price and oddly so, I always get my way *blush*) and I got them both for $2.00.

After sitting in my garage all winter, waiting to be dressed. And now they are dressed in black (shocker, right?)
See my 10yr old holding the sander? he gets a kick out of sanding, but rarely painting or re-constructing =)

Forgive the mess in and around the living room. Since my basement is still suffering of a lack of carpet, this is where I spent most of time reading, watching TV, crafting and so forth... I promise to put better pictures up when the living room is completed. And minus the MESS! =)

Next is finding two great baskets that are not country.

BTW, that pleather chair was a CL find last summer. It has a bit of oops on it, but it doesn't bother me in the slightest.

Dinning Room Re-Do

It's been a busy weekend. Thanks Debbie for motivating me =)

Before

Notice the dinning set and curio?

After

First coat on table since I ran out of steam in between laundry, lunch, dinner and the what nots.
Anywho, I used Behr Premium Plus Mocha Latte. I looks absolutely delicious... Makes want to drink a latte.

I added the rug and metal scroll thingy I already had here in the house.

Next weeks projects;

1. Finish kitchen table
2. Paint wood trim in hallway
3. Paint main bathroom

Why are weekends so short? =)

Everyone needs a little Craigslist in their lives

Here are my CL finds for this week.

The couch is absolutely beautiful, in pristine condition and I will put her in the basement. WOW, what a find!

Pub table will also be a part of the new basement right next to the bar and air hockey table.

The fridge will replace the old ivory 15 year old refrigerator that keeps leaking. It took me almost a year to find that right one on CL for very little money since I find it hard to spend 1K on a fridge, I rather travel =)

So, I can't hardly wait to put them in their new spaces... and show them off. Just another couple of weeks,  Stay tuned! =)
