Let's Scrap weekly Sketch

Here is my take on this week's sketch on Let's Scrap:

I used BoBunny Flower Child, the thermometer is We are Memory Keepers, 72 and Sunny line.  This layout is done with pictures of my kids playing in their little wading pool in the backyard.  I bought the little slide at a garage sale, mostly to use as steps for the trampoline, but it works pretty good for a pool slide too!  After these pics were taken, they moved the pool over to the swingset and put it at the end of the bigger slide.  The problem being that the pool is so little, that they crash into the far side as they slide down.  Fun for all except for the inevitable bumps and bruises!

Summer Home

I have been so busy with "life" that I haven't had much scrapping time.  In fact, it took me all week to upload the pics I took last weekend.  Mark and i both took Friday off so we could have a 3 day weekend to go up north to our home in East Jordan.  We haven't had much time there lately, and needed to do some stuff.
Here is the list of what we got done:
1. Installed replacement screen door
2. Painted double entry doors (green).
3. Power washed/cleaned small deck
4. Stained small deck.
5. Trimmed all the bushes.
6. Put new mulch in all the beds
7. Mowed "lawn" and drive
8. Trimmed back all trees around perimeter
Not bad for 2 days work.  We even managed to take the kids for a swim in Lake Charlevoix, to the local playground, and out for ice cream.  It sure helps to have a list, and just keep plugging away.  The hardest, and funniest, thing we did was getting the shredded bark mulch.  It was a self-serve yard, and here at home that means they have a loader available to use.  Not in Ellsworth!  Mark and I loaded the 600 lbs. of bark into the pick-up with our hands and 2 small buckets!  When he went back for more, at least he took a pitch fork, which made the job a lot easier.

Football

I did this layout for no particular challenge or contest.  I had these fantastic pictures taken by my friend and daycare provider Donna.  I had one enlarged to an 8x10.  Not that I am biased or anything, but my son Zachary is very photogenic, don't you think?  Anyway, I came up with an arrangement that I think made the most of the photos I wanted to use.  I had this all laid out, and went looking for the football felt fusion to use for the borders as I thought it would be perfect.  Had to wait for them to arrive from scrapbook.com, but I love them!  Note:  they are a perfect 12" border until you remove the backing.  The felt tends to stretch a little, and I found that I needed to use extreme care to keep from pulling the border out of shape as I removed it.

Challenge Masters Summer Lovin Contest

I completed this layout for the first challenge at Challenge Master's Summer Lovin contest.  The challenge was to make a layout about your most important scrapbook tool using only one picture.  Points were assigned for journaling, more points if greater than 50 words; each flower, ribbon, trim, embellishment,; with bonus points for using paint.  I enjoyed doing this, it made me streatch a little and do things I normally wouldn't.  I added blue paint around the edges of my title letters, which I think gave it a rather nice distressed look, helping it to blend with the rest of the layout.  I also used more flowers and ribbon than I otherwise would have.  I am pleased with the final layout.  But now I need to vent for a minute.  After figuring oput how to upload the image at Challenge Masters, I learned that you had to "sign-up" by July 2 in order to participate.  I am a slow scrapper.  I look at lots of challenges and contests, but only have time to complete a very few.  So imagine my dissapointment when the Challenge leader sent me a pm telling me that she couldn't find me on her list, and therefore I was welcome to play along, but would not be given points or be eligible to win.  Now, don't get me wrong, I never expected to win, but somehow it just is not the same now.  I doubt I will continue.  The thing that bothers me most is that there is notheing in the forum post under the Summer Lovin contest that tells you about the need to sign up.  I did go back several entries on the challenge Masters blog, and finally did find something about signing up in advance, but if you just click on the forum thread, it appears that the only time requirement is to have the layout completed by July 10.  Okay I am done ranting, I will get over it, and I really am pleased with my layout.
