Fab Friday 155

Hi stampers!  Happy Friday!  If I had a diary, it might look something like this: Dear Diary, the sun hasn't shined in eighty seven days!  LOL!  Seriously, it is SO GRAY here and my photos are suffering!  But I had to take a photo on this gray day for the latest Fab Friday challenge!

This one really is much  prettier in real life.  I could NOT get the colors to photograph well at all with this crummy weather.

The cakes and the ruffled ribbon are a perfect match!  As are Soft Seafoam cardstock stamped with Mint Macaron ink!  I also added a few wooden elements from the SAB catalog that I dyed be gently pressing them into a pad.

Make sure to check out what the design team did and play along with us!

Wedding Wednesday

Hi stampers!  Since my BFF is getting married on Saturday (I'm so excited although I just realized I need to get my act together and make her a card AND work on my speech, eek!) so I thought I'd share the card I made for her shower as I don't think I have yet.

I had originally made the dress portion a long time ago figuring I would use it on an Artisan entry (I know, I know...I still have to show you those....) but I never ended up doing anything with it.  Well fast forward to the week of her shower and I went, crap, I haven't made a card yet, lol!  So, I did my favorite background technique for wedding cards with the simply scored diagonal plate.

Sadly, the flower trim is retired...it was so pretty!  Her wedding color is silver so I used the new smoky slate color.  I better go get busy on my card and speech!

Going to the chapel

Hi stampers!  Ok, so what's with the title, right?  I'm already married...I know....BUT my BFF got engaged last week!  Yayness!!!  I'm over the moon happy for her and her BF who I also love:-)

So, I had to make an engagement card for her!  One of her colors is probably going to be gray so I wanted to incorporate it and I loved the combo in the catalog with this set and the gray and yellow and silver.  I was going to case the card but realized it used the brushed silver paper....which I don't have....huh?  Something I don't have?  Maybe it really is the Mayan Apocalypse!  Ha!

Anyway I decided to wing it with the colors.  I also decided that since I was using the cake image that I'd do a "quilted" background like my wedding cake was:-)  You've seen me do this on another wedding card and on one of my Artisan cards.  It's pretty easy with the diagonal scoring plate.  And I have to say I wasn't all that jazzed about the card until I added the glimmer hearts and then WOW!  It took it to a whole 'nother level!

I know I haven't shared much lately but I'm slowly beginning to feel like myself again and taking a break from both stamping and blogging has been sort of refreshing.  So, I'll try to post more often but I'm not making any promises (however there are some exciting things coming from SU with the Leadership conference going on right now so I'll try to keep you posted).  I don't talk much about it but I struggle with depression and it's been pretty bad over the past month or so...so I needed the break.  I'm very happy to say that this card came pretty easy and I was super happy with the way it came out...so maybe the mojo is back:-)

I'm off to pin more wedding ideas for my friend, lol!

Happy stamping!

HSS 117

Hi stampers! It's Tuesday and I'm EXCITED!  My copy of the new 2012-2013 Stampin' Up Catalog should be here this morning!  I've seen in online but can't wait to page through it in person!  I have a hair appointment today so I'm excited I'll have it to pour over while I wait for my highlights!!! You can get your own copy if you let me know you need one and you can see it online and order from it June 1!!!!

Anyway, since it's Tuesday, it's time for another fun challenge over at Hand Stamped Sentiments!

This week is all about weddings and sophistication!  So pull out your best and show us what you got!  Here's what I came up with:

Stampin' Supplies:
Stamps:  Love & laughter
Paper:  Whisper white, neutrals DSP stack
Ink:  Basic black, versamark
Accessories:  White embossing powder, neutrals glimmer brads, white taffeta ribbon, blushing bride pleated satin ribbon, basic pearls, itty bitty punch pack

I used my simply scored diagonal plate to make a background....which reminds me of my wedding cake:-)  I had swiss dots alternating this this type of quilted pattern.  Annnnd, now I want some cake...my cake was the best I've ever had and it was orange dreamsicle!!!  Oh wait, we were talking about stamping:-)

For the dress I used emboss resist and then cut it out and added my ribbon to the bottom. I also added a little detail to the waist with the itty bitty punch pack!

Now head on over to the HSS challenge site and see what the rest of the DT came up with and be sophisticated with us!!!

Happy stamping!

Easy event - wedding

Hi stampers, in honor of labor day here is an EASY card I made the other night.  It's one you can make without a lot of labor:-)  I told you we had a wedding on Saturday and I made a card AFTER a 12+ hour day of work at about 11 at night on Friday (so you KNOW it had to really actually be easy, lol) as I didn't know if I had a wedding card and it was more fun to make one than to actually look for one.  I had to laugh in the morning as my hubby kind of freaked out about not having a card when we woke up.  I just looked at him and said it was taken care of....and then he said "and that's why I married you."  :-)  Guess it was the fact that he'd never have to rush out to buy a card ever again that reeled him in, LOL!  He actually tells people that, hahaha!

I usually do more "elegant" wedding cards but I'd been itching to use the wedding stamp from easy events simply because it was cute.  Thinking back I wish I would have embossed the image with black as to be a bit more fancy but it still turned out well I think...what about you?

Stampin' Supplies:
Stamps:  Easy events, tiny tags
Paper:  Whisper white, island indigo
Ink:  staz-on, island indigo, real red, lucky limeade
Accessories:  Jewelry punch, polka dot embossing folder, real red taffeta ribbon, crochet thread

The color combo of island indigo and real red is a bit out of the box for me but with all that white I wanted something striking.  I usually try to make a card in the wedding colors if I can but I wasn't sure what they were this time around.  I also realized I forgot to put some bling (either dazzling diamonds or dazzling details) on the heart but that's what happens when you stamp after that long at work and that late at night, haha.  I COULD have been home at 9:30 but I sent a kid to the ER so I had to go there to wait for him....BUT he never showed up...I was pretty mad since I had things I could have been doing at home and had to sit there waiting and then they didn't show up AND because he really needed an x-ray....guess we will see how that plays out tomorrow at practice!  Just a day in the life of an athletic trainer:-)  Anyway......

So that's my card and it was so easy!  And now also in honor of labor day I'm going to continue to do NOTHING and NOT labor....we DID go to the grocery store and I did take a nap so I've done SOMETHING today, lol!  And I do plan to go for a run since it's in the 60's here which is amazing and I do plan to stamp a little something tonight too....maybe ;-)  Hope you're enjoying whatever you're doing (or not doing) today!

Happy stamping and happy labor day!  Be sure to come back tomorrow for a new challenge at Hand Stamped Sentiments!  Oh and I didn't forget about the SCS Creative Crew projects, I just didn't have as much down time as I thought I would at my mom's (which is always the case) since I was busy running around her new house deciding where furniture should go and what color to paint what and how to decorate and all that fun stuff!
