Welcome to the New and Improved Blog Hop!

Formerly The Creative HomeAcre, this blog hop has undergone a few changes. We sadly say goodbye to two of our hosts, Manuela and Andrea. We wish them the best of luck with their wonderful blogs and hope you will continue to visit them.

But not all of the changes are sad! After careful consideration, all of the hosts felt some changes were in order to improve and update this fun party. Since my other blog, The Self Sufficient HomeAcre is dedicated more to homesteading and self sufficiency, I felt that the perfect place to host our creative hop would be right here on Little Homestead on the Hill! The new hop name is the perfect fit for all of your wonderful posts on creative homemaking and gardening. :) We would love to continue reading  your awesome homesteading posts on The HomeAcre Hop on Thursdays, so please keep 'em coming!

The Creative Home & Garden Hop hosts:

Alison from Mumtopia
Kathy from Creative Home Expressions
Mary from Back to the Basics and Mary’s Kitchen

FOOD: Perhaps the Most Important social justice issue of our time

From her post:

When you realize that Monsanto patented seed and farming practices are ruining the soil in India, causing the land to literally reject the growing of food; when you realize that farmers in India–who formerly could support their families–are now committing suicide almost en masse because they are so indebted to a big corporation who will not even allow them to save their seeds and feed their children; when you see entire dead zones of land that will no longer produce food; when whole crops fail putting entire communities, countries or continents on the brink of starvation; when farmers in Third World Countries are growing mono-crops to ship to the US because we insist that we have tomatoes in January and pears in June and bananas year around without fail and these farmers cannot feed their own families;

Welcome to Another Creative HomeAcre Hop!

Happy Father's Day!  I can't wait to see my dad this week!

There has been so much going on in our little slice of paradise.  We hosted an Open House in our brand new Chiropractic Wellness Center.  It was great!  I served Purple Basil Lemonade (it came out pink)!!!

It's been pretty hot the last 3 days after several weeks of rain every day.  Literally EVERY day!  And now I'm looking forward to visiting family next week.  *While I type this...the rest of the house is asleep except for Lucy and I.  She wants more attention so she's biting my fingers and walking across my keyboard!  Lucy is the "kitten."

Before I get to the party...The 2 For 1 Heirloom Seed Special ENDS Tuesday at noon!  This is NOT announced on the website.  It is just for YOU!
Serrano Peppers!!!

Join us at The Creative HomeAcre Hop!

Another week has absolutely flown by!
I shared Plants to Grow in Full Sun but I never revealed the final project.  Even now it is still not quite complete and we can't rush mother nature!  I'll  share more pictures once all of the seedlings are grown.

Before...

After...
It's difficult to see the Swiss Chard and pepper seedlings since they are still very small. The sunflower seedlings are on the far right but didn't make it in the frame.

There are orange and lemon peels scattered throughout the planter to deter the neighbor's cat from using it as a litterbox.  So far it's working!

I planted marigolds, French Breakfast Radish,
Lemon Queen Sunflower, Fine Verde Basil, 5-Color Silverbeet Swiss Chard and Lavender.

To Celebrate, I have announced a 2 FOR 1 Seed Special at
Mary's Heirloom Seeds.

Order ANY variety of Tomatoes and get a second for FREE!

Order Genovese Basil and get a second pack FREE!
Jalapeno, Serrano, Cal Wonder, Anaheim Peppers and Golden Marconi Peppers are also 2 for 1!
**We will be away from our seed office June 19th- 25th**All orders placed during these days will ship June 26th.

And now for the party!

Please Welcome Our New Co-host!

We’re very excited to announce the addition of a new co-host to our sisterhood of creative bloggers!

Join us at The Creative HomeAcre Hop

Late to the party again!!!  At least I made it and I'll try not to let it happen again.  We are CRAZY busy around here lately.  Read The Big MOVE and I'm on a MISSION for more info!

I also wanted to share something I've been drinking every day.  It's called GREENS from a It Works!  I became an Independent Consultant for It Works about 3 months ago and I am SO excited about the opportunity and additional income. BONUS: the ingredients are all natural and Non-GMO!

GREENS are a blend of 38 fruits, vegetables and herbs in a convenient powder form.  It can be mixed with water or juice or even added to a smoothie.  I just add it to water.  each serving (2 tiny scoops) gives you 8+ servings of fruits and veggies.  I get a nice energy boost without the jitters of caffeine.

Please Welcome Our New Co-hosts!

Sunday Throwback post and The Creative HomeAcre Hop

Good Morning!  Since March Against Monsanto is right around the corner (May 25th) I'll be sharing a few of my "throwback posts" about GMOs.

Honeybee Deaths and Genetically Modified Crops

This article was originally published by Global Research in March 2008
Commercial beehives pollinate over a third of {North}America’s crops and that web of nourishment encompasses everything from fruits like peaches, apples, cherries, strawberries and more, to nuts like California almonds, 90 percent of which are helped along by the honeybees. Without this pollination, you could kiss those crops goodbye, to say nothing of the honey bees produce or the flowers they also fertilize’.1

This essay will discuss the arguments and seriousness pertaining to the massive deaths and the decline of Bee colonies in North America. As well, it will shed light on a worldwide hunger issue that will have an economical and ecological impact in the very near future.

There are many reasons given to the decline in Bees, but one argument that matters most is the use of Genetically Modified Organisms (GMO) and "Terminator Seeds" that are presently being endorsed by governments and forcefully utilized as our primary agricultural needs of survival. I will argue what is publicized and covered by the media is in actuality masking the real forces at work, namely the impact of genetically modified seeds on the reproduction of bee colonies across North America.

Genetically modified seeds are produced and distributed by powerful biotech conglomerates. The latter manipulate government agricultural policy with a view to supporting their agenda of dominance in the agricultural industry. American conglomerates such as Monsanto, Pioneer Hybrid and others, have created seeds that reproduce only under certain conditions, often linked to the use of their own brands of fertilizer and/or insecticide.

The genetic modification of the plant leads to the concurrent genetic modification of the flower pollen. When the flower pollen becomes genetically modified or sterile, the bees will potentially go malnourished and die of illness due to the lack of nutrients and the interruption of the digestive capacity of what they feed on through the summer and over the winter hibernation process.

You'll find the rest of the article here.

And now for the Party...
Each of the co-host have chosen their own features so be sure to stop by each blog to see if you've been featured!
