Shop Spotlight : Little Owl Big Trouble

Hello, folks, Happy belated Easter! I want to thank you guys for entering my California Baby giveaway, and congratulations to *drum roll* our winner Rita I!

Anyway.. I don't know with all of you parents with boy(s), but I never have a hard time dressing and finding cute clothing for Big Sis G. After all, she's pretty confident on determining her own style and her style is well, pretty easy to shop. It's pink-and-glitter-overload-princess style by the way. *eye rolls...easy peasy shopping, right?*

And like all  -cough-*hipster *-cough- ..ahem.. modern and aesthetically educated mothers, I, once in my lifetime I have solemnly sworn not to put anything with licensed character on my daughter's body. Of course, that could only be achieved for the first one and a half year of Big Sis G's life. And she begged for her first Disney Princess Ariel t-shirt. I cursed myself, well done, mom, but hey, the only Ariel (and later Dora, Rapunzel, Hello Kitty..) hurts is my own ego.

Boys, however, I heard is pretty easy to steer into licensed-characters-free zone. They are typically not really bothered with things put on their body as long as they're comfy and free of obstruction in any way. BUT, shopping for boys in a stylish way can be a bit of a challenge. Girls have more options. Always. But don't be discourage on dressing up your little man. Stylishly. Finally. I want you to meet ..

Little Owl Big Trouble!!

1. J Shoes Orange IDR 275.000.-    2. Gray Vest   3. Trendy Training Pants   4. L/S Shanghai Red Shirt IDR 135.000,-   5. Girl's Skull Tee  6. Sweater w/ patches Green

Well, those are only a few of my personal picks to create the perfect little man outfit. I cheated, I put in one girl's t-shirt there. I can't help it I'm sorry. Aren't they the opposite of those licensed character outfit you wish you didn't have to buy for your kids? (Cars and Angry Bird franchise, I'm looking at you.) I have touched and experience it myself. Big Sis G love their harem training pants. (yes, I make her wear boy's clothes, please don't judge me). Not to mention it's easy on mom's pocket too. They are 100% made in Indonesia, too.

You can shop Little Owl Big Trouble right here or drop a visit to their Facebook page and share some love.

If you happened to live in Bandung, Little Owl Big Trouble is available on Bebe Bloom at PVJ mall and The Fabrik, Jl Riau. Isn't their Bebe Bloom stockist the cutest shop? I snapped a few pics while I was there and trust me, the pictures did the real store no justice. Excuse my lame photography skill. For more info about their stockist and products availability you are welcome to contact on twitter or Facebook page.

Thank you for having me Little Owl!

Fast Fashion FAQ

Hi there, long time no blog. I guess getting used to blogger new layout took me some time. Gee, how old I am! Today I'll be answering to the most frequently asked question landed on my email by you, awesome readers, second to how Scribd works, "What's your personal style like?" or "Can you blog an outfit post?" or "Are you even dressed up everyday or do you blog nekid (naked, LOL, I know it's still pronounced the same but why with this spelling?)" I'm going to answer the nekid one first : um, not literally dressed up but not naked either.

Samantha Hahn's illustration
It's not a surprise that these questions arise, since I think 70% of Indonesian blogs are about fashion/personal style. And each craft and/or parenting blogger had also at least one outfit post, so many of you think I should come up with this. But to tell you the truth at this point I'm not really into outfit post, because : I'm not really camera ready, REALLY. I'm beyond awkward when it comes to posing. But do I interested in fashion? Yes I do!

What about personal style? Let me do a quick trivia about my personal style :

  1. I never wear fur. I live in a tropical town, it'd be suicidal to even consider one.
  2. Nor do I lounge around everyday in bikinis or summer floral prints. Please stop imagining that all people in tropical lands dressed the same way as tourists everyday.
  3. I don't have a favorite or taboo color in fashion. I love them all!
  4. If I must live with only one  fashion staple let it be a slightly over-sized crisp white shirt and a pair of good fitting jeans. OK, I cheated, that's two items.
  5. I have a common obsession for shoes; flats, boots, wedges, heels, pumps, you name it.. I ain't gonna kid myself and deny it. There.
  6. I have my own Hermes Birkin dilemma; it's the queen bee of all designer's bags, perfectly sized, great investment, classically designed, outstanding choice  of colors and materials, shortly: I will never got bored with it. Yes, it's totally pricey, but the price tag aside; everybody else is wearing it. I'm not so sure whether I want one or not based on that fact alone.
  7. I luuuurve my waist. I'm a curvy girl in pear so I'm naturally more attracted to vintage cutting than modern one. I love seeing modern cut on everyone else, but it just doesn't work for me.
So I think that's all I can share for now. Please do tell me what is your numero uno personal style rule?

Clog Roll

The pair that started it all. Chanel, and no, that's not the year of made underneath. That's the price.

The title is a blog roll pun, get it? *insert cricket sound* This could be the part where I type "LOL" but seeing your response I'd better not. Remember my spring wishlist which feature a pair of clogs? Unsurprisingly I haven't got one not even now. I love today's clogs aesthetic and supposedly comfort, but have yet to find the perfect pair for me and my wallet. I was wondering if they are suitable enough to wear for autumn (in Indonesia of course, every day is summer, but you know "autumn" at a country called fashion). I have been browsing through Shopbop and ASOS, and here's what I got.

What do you think? Do you have a pair of clogs? Do you wear it throughout the year?

Low Riders

I adore Maeve's current issue editorial. The styling, the pose, the pint sized models, and particularly the low horizons in each background. Monalisa, revisited, I must say. And the fact that the whole wardrobes are hand me downs makes it almost too awesome for a children fashion spread. Any children magazines should really refresh their minds that fashion spread should be taken seriously (and artsy too), skip the playground and/or bright colors for a while, would you please?

I personally love the Bruce-Wayne-by-day-Batman-by-night one, but you must have guessed that.

Blythe Girl

Seriously, I have a thing for beautiful things.. including the beautiful girls, it makes my husband doubt my sexual orientation at some point. Currently, accordingly to the spring mood, I have fallen in love with the girl in Lyell's Spring collection. She looks like Blythe the doll. I want to own her and dress her up.

Happy Thanksgiving!

How's the turkey? Let's put away the scale and enjoy the feast.

Speaking of feast... I nearly faint in joy (and peed my pants a little) when I found out I won the "Which Marc Jacobs are you?" contest at hotchocolateandmint, the uber famous fashion blog in Indonesia. I won 100US$ gift certificate of shopbob.com!! Yaaaay!! Christmas came early for me! Don't get me wrong, I may not sound like a fashion expert, but my affair with fashion has long been intertwined. As you can guess, I love fashion but fashion is just not into me. *sob* no worries, I will always love you, dear fashion. (why am I writing this with Karl Lagerfeld's image on mind??)

Anyhooo...
I painted this as my gratitude to lovely Diana. Check her blog out, she's the Brianboy of Indonesia.

ps. now now what shall I get with my 100US$? *winkwink*

Soft Sunlight..

I took this picture while I was at my mum's, she collected orchids too. Second place from the cacti family, this is the flowers I love the most. I'm not much of a photographer but I somehow like how this turned out, maybe all of you professionals are getting a big laugh by now, but hey, not that it's going to win an award or something, I am just surprised at how good it turned out.

To celebrate more warm, soft midsummer sunlight, let's satisfy our eyes from the better photographers...

A denim shirtdress.. on top of my list! here.

Oh...Bags!

Bags. Something you stroll along with, maybe in your hand, on your shoulder, across your body, or even on your back, to store your belongings that you can't just leave at home. That's my definition, you must not take it too seriously. Bags are definitely much more than I had stated there. They are luxurious, one of a kind, must haves in fashion world known as " designer handbags". Hunted and copied all over the world. Geez. Not all fashion items receive the similar treatment, I think. And since I was born to the lesser part of fashion caste, I love the idea of making your own designer handbags. Such as ..

the notorious printable Kelly...

and this Chanel. Aaah, bless the person who made this. (found via SourCherry)

And speaking of bags, these are the ones I'm currently obsessing about. swoon.

Decorate those Shoulders!

Oddly (well, not too odd if you know me well), I have been super fascinated by shoulder decorations. I even dream about shoulder decorations!! ("what are you talking about, you crazy chick?"). I know, I know, I invented that term. Words sometimes fail me, so here's a quick glimpse of what I'm talking about.

AAliciaAccessories' corsage brooch (via Modish)
KatieDid's flower collar tutorial (via oneprettything)

Aren't they the perfect things for such adoration?

Blog, Illustrated!

I started my own blog just a few months ago, still a crawling baby of the blogosphere, but I have read many great blogs before I decided (and have the courage) to start my own. Here is the celebration of Blog world that I just discovered: Igor + Andre's Blogger Portrait Series. Can you recognized any of them? They are mostly fashion blogger, so if you're in tune, they're all be familiar. Danny Roberts, the man behind these drool worthy illustration, is a Californian based artist. He's simply doing a portrait of whoever inspire him as a way of giving back, how cool is that? Simple, yet very flattering and effective idea to capture your muse.

Here are my favorites of the series, not based on the object of illustrations, but on the execution of illustrating itself, I love the colors, compositions, and the whole feeling and energy these masterpieces have.
