In de kas begint momenteel Clematis cirrhosa 'Freckles' te bloeien.

Deze wintergroene Clematis staat al jarenlang in de kas en als ik de snoeischaar er niet drastisch in zou zetten in de zomer, zou de hele kas er inmiddels mee begroeid zijn.
De cultivar 'Freckles' is in 1989 door Raymond J. Evison in Engeland geïntroduceerd, een kweekproduct uit de Clematis cirrhosa die in het Middellandse-Zeegebied in het wild groeit.
In ons land komt Clematis cirrhosa niet voor omdat de winterhardheid te wensen overlaat, Clem. cirrhosa 'Freckles' die we hier in onze tuinen ook nauwelijks zien, is iets meer winterhard, maar een plek in mijn, overigens onverwarmde, kas is toch veiliger.
'Freckles' zorgt voor een geweldige verlenging van de bloeiperiode van Clematissen. Ze begint pas met bloeien in november en gaat hiermee door tot in januari. Een vorstperiode kan natuurlijk wel roet in het eten gooien.

Voor het weekend heb ik wat ranken met bloemen naar binnen gehaald en in een schaal water gelegd.
Door een schaal op voet te gebruiken, kunnen de klokvormige bloemen natuurlijk over de rand hangen.
On Friday I took some tendrils with flowers inside and put them in a bowl of water.
By using a bowl on foot, the bell-shaped flowers can hang naturally over the edge.
Tot slot kan ik het niet nalaten om enkele foto's van de prachtige ondergaande zon afgelopen week op mijn blog te zetten. Best bijzonder, ik maak hoofdzakelijk foto's van de opkomende zon. Om thuis de zon onder te zien gaan, moet ik naar de voorkant van het huis en over de weg heen fotograferen, dat lukt vaak niet zo goed.
En natuurlijk zat er weer zo'n schatje op het pad naar de kas, ze worden steeds tammer.

Finally I cannot resist to put a few photos of the beautiful sunset of last week on my blog. Quite special because I mainly photograph rising suns. Watching sunsets at home means I have to go to the front of the house and photograph across the road, that often does not work well.
