Zaterdag 15 september bezocht ik de stad Leiden, niet als toerist, maar om de kijkdag van veilinghuis Onder de Boompjes te bezoeken. Het is een klein veilinghuis waar vier keer per jaar een veiling wordt gehouden. Soms ga ik naar de kijkdagen om te zien of er iets interessants voor me bij zit. Het was een mooie zonnige zaterdag met veel winkelend publiek en toeristen. Eigenlijk let ik nooit zo op mijn omgeving als ik hier naar toe ga, maar nu maakte ik, net als vele buitenlanders ook eens een paar foto's met mijn smartphone en dat kwam alleen maar door die ene bijzondere winkel........
Saturday 15th September I visited the town of Leiden, not as a tourist, but for the viewing day of auctionhouse Onder de Boompjes. This is a small auctionhouse where auction is held four times a year. Sometimes I go to the viewing days to look if there is something interesting for me. It was a beautiful sunny Saturday with lots of shoppers and tourists. Actually, I never pay much attention to the surroundings when I visit the auction, but this time I took some photographs with my smartphone, like foreigners do and that's only because of that one special shop..........

De schoonheid van dit Art Deco tegeltableau in het portiek van een kledingwinkel viel me op.
The beauty of this Art Deco tile tableau in the porch of a clothing store caught my attention.
Maar dit was de ontdekking van de dag en daarom besteed ik deze blog aan Leiden. Vóór me kwam een mevrouw een tweedehands winkel(tje) uit en zei tegen haar man: "Ik ben nog nooit eerder in zo'n lange.......bijzondere antiekwinkel geweest". Ik hoorde dit en ging ook maar eens binnen kijken, heb jammer genoeg geen foto's van de buitenkant. Het was een kleine ruimte vol met oude boeken, kranten en spullen. Echter, wat je niet kon zien, was dat aan het eind van het kamertje een scherpe bocht naar links was naar een volgende kamer, en daarna nog één en nog één, een compleet doolhof vol ouwe troep. Ergens was ook nog een geheel overwoekerd binnenplaatsje, het zag er echt romantisch en fotogeniek uit. Daar begon ik met foto's maken, en de andere foto's van Leiden hierboven maakte ik pas later toen ik weer buiten kwam.
But this was the discovery of the day and that's why I spend this blog on Leiden. In front of me a lady came out of a second hand (little) shop and told her husband: "I have never seen in my life such a long....special junk shop". I heared this and entered the shop to have a look, unfortunately I have no photos of the outside. It was a small room full of old books, papers and other stuff. However, what you could not see , was that at the end of the room sharp to the left was another room, and thereafter another room and another room, a complete maze of old junk. Somewhere there also was a completely overgrown courtyard, romantic and photogenic. That's where I started to make photos, and the other pictures of Leiden above, I made later when I had left the shop again.
