- Easterflowers from the garden -
Na precies een maand weer eens een ochtendwandeling gemaakt. Om 7.00 uur waren F. en ik al aan de overkant van het riviertje de Rotte, het was vreemd mijn wandelingen zullen nooit meer hetzelfde zijn.
After exactly one month F. and I had an early morning walk again. At 7.00 o'clock we were on the other side of the river 'Rotte', it was strange my walks will never be the same.
Tot mijn verrassing bloeide aan de zompige kant van het water een dotterbloem (Caltha palustris), een zonnige, gele vlek op de verder nog kale oever.
To my surprise a marsh marigold (Caltha palustris) was blooming on the swampy side of the water, a sunny, yellow stain on the further bare bank of the river.
Eigenlijk had ik gehoopt baltsende futen tegen te komen, maar nee vanmorgen hadden ze het druk met vis vangen.
Actually I had hoped to see the great crested grebes courting, but no they were busy catching food.
Thuis verzamelde ik bloemen voor een paasboeket, totdat ik op deze hommel stuitte, ik had hem bijna met bloem en al afgeplukt.
At home I gathered flowers for an Easter bouquet, until I came across this bumblebee, I almost plucked it with flower and all.
Ik had op de veranda ook nog een paar reuze wilgenkatjes en een afgeknakte bloem van een dubbele narcis.
On the porch I also had some giant catkins and a broken flower of a double daffodil.
Ik zette de bloemen op de tafel voor het raam, het was echter te zonnig.
I put the flowers on the table in front of the window, however, this was too sunny.
Op de schoorsteenmantel stonden ze beter samen met mijn verzameling tinnen kandelaars, gevonden in kringloopwinkels.
They showed better on the mantelpiece together with my collection pewter candlesticks which are all thrift store finds.
Soms denk ik dat het mooier is om een decoratie met slechts één bloem te maken, de bloem op zich komt dan ongetwijfeld mooier uit. Helaas, dat kan ik niet, er staan zoveel verschillende mooie narcissen in de tuin dat het kiezen te moeilijk is, ik hou gewoon van uitbundige overvloed, laten we het daar maar bij houden.
Sometimes I think it should be nicer to make a decoration with only one flower, the flower itself will show undoubtedly prettier. Alas, I cannot, there are so many different nice daffodils in the garden that choosing one is too difficult, I just love the exuberant abundance, let's keep it at that.
