My Library Reads is a spotlight on the library books that I have read during the previous week. This is not a post on what books I borrowed but books that I read. Since I don't review library books, this is a way to still be able to showcase them on my blog. BTW, if anyone knows of another meme that is like this on another blog, could you please let me know? I don't know of any myself, but if there is one already in place, I'd like to give credit where credit is due! Library Books read from 7/3/11 - 7/10/11 Back When You Were Easier to Love by Emily Wing Smith (Dutton Juvenile, 4/28/11) YA - Even if I didn't have to read this book for the YA Contemps challenge, I still probably would have picked up this book based on the cover alone. Having worked in a library, I love those stools and the cartoonish cover with books calls out to me. And the story does start off with a love of books, librarie...

Library Books read from 6/19/11 - 6/25/11 Like Mandarin by Kirsten Hubbard (Delacorte Books for Young Readers, 3/8/11) YA - This book is a good look at how many teen girls feel. They want to be more than what they are and sometimes don't always look to the best role models when trying to fit in. A lot of it also stems to their own parents and the relationships they have with them. Hubbard does a good job of blending these topics toget...

Library Books read from 6/12/11 - 6/18/11 Semi-Sweet by Roisin Meaney (5 Spot, 4/25/11) Contemporary Women's Fiction - A book about cupcakes? SOLD. This was a really fun light read. The author is Irish, who has several books out in the UK but this is her first US release and I hope more are on their way. The story deals with many characters which can be a bit confusing at first, but the main character is Hannah, a woman who is about to open a c...

Library Books read from 5/23/11 - 5/30/11 Sean Griswold's Head by Lindsey Leavitt (Bloomsbury USA Children's Books, 3/1/11) YA - I really enjoyed the story and I was totally rooting for Payton and Sean at the end. I love how this book takes a serious subject (MS) and wraps a really cute contemporary YA romance type story around it. Payton is having to deal with her father suffering from MS and is told to choose a subject to focus her feelings on....

Library Books read from 5/9/11 - 5/16/11 Rival by Sara Bennett Wealer (HaperTeen, 2/15/11) YA - I am so glad that I'm doing the YA Contemps challenge because otherwise I would have never discovered this book. This is a beautifully written story about two former best friends who are now rivals in everything, especially in their competitive singing. The POV goes back and forth between Brooke and Kathryn and also between past and present. We see how the two of t...

Library Books read from 5/1/11 - 5/8/11 Super in the City by Daphne Uviller (Bantam, 1/27/2009) Chick Lit Mystery - I read this book because I was a on a blog tour for the second book in this series, Hotel No Tell, and I hate reading books out of order. I wasn't a big fan of this book to be honest. There were several places where I did enjoy it, but it seemed so all over the place that I was never able to get a grasp of all the characters or all the events that took p...

Library Books read from 4/17/11 - 4/23/11 The Provence Cure for the Brokenhearted by Bridget Asher (Bantam, 3/29/11) Contemporary Women's Fiction - This was a really nice book about letting love go, family, travel and food. Heidi is still getting over the death of her husband. Even though she has her son to comfort her, she still feels withdrawn from the world without him. A whirlwind trip to France takes her, her son and her teenage niece to the family's home where secr...

Library Books read from 3/20/11 - 3/26/11 Matched by Ally Condie (Dutton Juvenile, 10/30/10) YA - I'm still kicking myself for not picking this book at BEA. I somehow missed it on the showcase floor. Then when I was helping Amy pack her boxes to ship back home, she pointed out an extra copy lying on the discarded pile table. However at that point, my hands were filled with 20lbs (ok it felt like it) of books so I was like, I can wait until it actually comes out. Well as you can tel...

Library Books read from 2/20/11 - 2/26/11 Revolution by Jennifer Donnelly (Delacorte Books for Young Readers, 10/12/10) YA - This is another of those books that I picked up simply because of other book bloggers and all the talk on twitter. It's a split contemporary and historical fiction book, taking place in modern day New York and France and then during the French Revolution. The book starts off with Andi who I found to be incredibly annoying. Seriously, she was such a brat. I understan...

Library Books read from 2/6/11 - 2/12/11 Stitch Me Deadly by Amanda Lee (Berkley Prime Crime, 2/1/11) Cozy Mystery: 2nd book in the Embroidery Mystery series. Cute mystery series involving an owner of an embroidery specialty shop who keeps having dead people turn up in her store. I really like the pace of this mystery series. It's slow but comforting. The mystery is very good and I didn't know who the killer was until the very end. I liked Marcy's relationship with her mother. They ac...

Library Books read from 1/30/11 - 2/5/11 A Killer Crop by Shelia Connolly (Berkley Prime Crime, 12/7/10) Cozy Mystery: 4th book in the Orchard mystery series. I love apples so about halfway through this book I had to go get one out of the fridge and start chowing down while reading. The mystery is quite good and as a historian, the parts on genealogy and archives made me happy. I've enjoyed this series so far and I really like how things are progressing with the characters and I look forward to the next...

Library Books read from 1/23/11 - 1/29/11 The Diva Cooks a Goose by Krista Davis (Berkley Prime Crime, 12/7/10) Cozy Mystery: 4 th Book in the Domestic Diva Mystery series. Cute book that takes place in Alexandria, VA which is right near me. The mystery involves a neighborhood wide theft of presents and then the death of a woman everyone loved until her dirty secrets came out. There are lots of household tips sprinkled throughout the book as well as recipes at the end. H...

Library Books read from 1/2/11 - 1/9/11 Goodnight Tweetheart by Teresa Medeiros (Gallery, 2010) Fun book about twitter relationships and by using tweets and DMs, it makes for a very quick read. I enjoyed it very much. HOWEVER, I know it's a romance book and all, but my gosh, did the characters start flirting and talking about sex as soon as they started talking to each other? Also, while I know that they switched to DMs eventually, it seemed that they were treating twitter like ...

Library Books read from 12/12/10 - 12/19/10 Penny Dreadful by Laurel Snyder (Random House Books for Young Readers, 2010) Middle Grade: This was a REALLY cute book. I loved Penny's character and her adventures in both her old home and her new one. The story was refreshingly realistic and lots of fun to read. This is exactly the type of middle grade fiction that I love reading and I would love if there is a sequel to Penny's story in the future. Love Finds You in Sun Valley, Idaho ...

Library Books read from 12/5/10 - 12/11/10 Sabotage by Kit Wilkinson (Steeple Hill, 2010) Christian Fiction - Romantic Suspense: I thought this might be interesting because it took place in Virginia but it turned out to be kinda meh. Nothing too exciting really happened. Dealt with horse doping which was kinda interesting. Read for Fall Reading Challenge. Chocolate Chip Cookie Murder by Joanne Fluke (Kensington, 2001) Cozy Mystery - First in the Hannah Swensen Mystery series. Loved this book!...
