In spring 2012, I found nice old looking stumps of common privet, approximately 30 years old. My neighbor dug 3 pieces of it. Roots were almost dry after 2 days of laying on the pavement, when I found them. I took two of them, and planted into containers. I wasn´t able to take the 3-rd one, because I was too tired...This is one of them. It grows very strong and quickly. In 2012, I just reduced the new shoots a did not shape it at all. I replanted it into a smaller container in spring 2013. First reduction of trunks and some carving work was done during our club summer meeting. I must say, this was my first experience with Dremel. It is not as easy, as it looks on youtube videos with Kevin Wilson or Graham Potter :-) I wanted to keep as many trunks as possible, but the main design had to be simplified. I also tried to add a little movement to the straight trunks. I´m not happy with the result, expecially the main trunk is really terrible. To be perfect, I must practice more :)
Last weekend I treated the deadwood with antifungal sulphur, because it had already started to rotten.
Next step on this tree will be complete defoliation and then all the branches will be wired. In summer 2014, when the wood will dry, detailed carving work will follow.
Na jar 2012 sused v blízkej záhradkárskej osade likvidoval približne 30 rokov starý živý plot z vtáčieho zoba. Našiel som 3 staré pne ležať niekoľko dní na ceste, s mierne obsušenými koreňmi. Dva z nich som zobral a zasadil, na tretí som už nemal sily... Toto je jeden z nich. Vtáči zob rastie neuveriteľne rýchlo, húževnato. V roku 2012 som iba niekoľkokrát zastrihol nové prírastky a inak nechával strom voľne rásť. Na jar 2013 som sa rozhodol strom opäť presadiť do menšej nádoby. V lete 2013 som na klubovom stretnutí prikročil ku prvému tvarovaniu - redukcii počtu kmeňov a ich úprave frézovaním. Musím povedať, že to bol jeden z mojich prvých pokusov s frézou. Je to však celkom zložité urobiť prirodzene. Na videách s Kevinom Wilsonom alebo Grahamom Potterom to vyzerá tak jednoducho :-) Chcel som ponechať čo najväčší počet kmeňov, ale zároveň základnú kostru bonsaja zjednodušiť a dostať do strnulých pňov trošku pohybu. S prácou na hlavnom najhrubšom kmeni som neni vôbec spokojný, tento som nezvládol. Musím viac trénovať, aby to bolo fajn.
Minulý víkend som natrel mŕtve drevo Sulkou, nakoľko sa na ňom začali objavovať čierne hubové povlaky. Keď drevo viac preschne, budem sa venovať detailnejšej práci. Ďalším krokom bude kompletné odlistenie a nadrôtovanie vetvičiek.
