Field Maple "Dustman" - javor poľný "Smetiar"

I pruned and wired this field maple in autumn 2016. It was repotted this spring and major root work was done, the first after collecting from woods. I pruned big roots quite hardly, hopefully without weakening the tree. Now the new buds are starting to enlarge so It looks that I didn´t disturb the root system too much. I let the tree grow without repotting at least for 3 seasons. My focus will be editing the dead wood and makind some new uros. Some small young and unnecessary shoots were left. I didn´t wanted to cut too much branches, because it could cause rapid growth with long internodies. The first story is here.
Strom bol nadrôtovaný a strihaný ešte na jeseň 2016. Túto jar som presádzal a pracoval s koreňmi, po prvý krát po vykopaní v lese. Veľké korene som zrezal dosť drasticky, snáď bez prílišného oslabenia stromu. Puky sa začínajú rýchlo predlžovať tak vyzerá že som korene príliš nevyrušil. Teraz nechám strom nerušene rásť bez presádzania aspoň 3 sezóny. Sústrediť sa budem na úpravu mŕtveho dreva a dotvorenie dutín po odstránených vetvách. Ponechal som niekoľko mladých a zbytočných vetiev. Nechcel som stromu ostrihať príliš veľa vetiev, aby to nespôsobilo rýchly rast s dlhými internódiami. Prvý príbeh je tu.

This is the main problem with the trunk. It is obvious on the side view, that the trunk has bad taper, it´s flat, without surface roots. Root grafting could be a solution together with adding some uros, but I´m not sure if I can make it...

Toto je hlavný problém kmeňa. Na bočnom pohľade je zrejmé že kmeň tu nemá potrebnú konicitu, je to ploché a bez povrchových koreňov. Prikájanie koreňov spolu s vytvorením ďalších dutín v kmeni by snáď bolo čiastočným riešením, ale nie som si istý či to dokážem.

It is a possibility to get rid of the left sub-trunk and go for the classic one main trunk, but for now I left both. 

Jedným z riešení je zbaviť sa ľavého kmeňa a smerovať ku klasickému tvaru, ale zatiaľ som ponechal oba kmene.

Field maple "Dustman" - Javor poľný "smetiar"

This is a new project of one of the most common deciduous trees of our countryside and forests. I call this maple "Dustman", because it was found on the illegal dumping of waste near the forest. The tree grows on old rusty iron waste, fragments of glass bottles and other trash. Excavation was therefore quite annoying and sad.  It was probably pruned hardly, because a big hollow section of the trunk can be seen. I dug it in spring 2014. Basic structure branches were selected in October 2014. This is how it looks now in spring.

Toto je nový projekt jedného z najbežnejších opadavých stromov nášho vidieka a lesov. Volám ho "smetiar" , pretože sme ho našli na skládke odpadu na kraji lesa, hneď za dedinou. Strom rástol na starom železe, úlomkoch skla a ďalšieho odpadu. Vykopávanie stromu bolo preto dosť nepríjemné a smutné. Pravdepodobne bol drasticky zrezaný, pretože na časti kmeňa je veľká dutina. Vykopal som ho na jar 2014, základná štruktúra konárov bola vybraná na jeseň 2014. Takto vyzerá dnes.

This is another little field maple in june 2013. I pruned the tree and left it grow freely.
