UPDATED CCGB - Cartoonists' Club of Great Britain

I've looked before at the Cartoonists' Club of Great Britain (CCGB) and some of the material that is out there for collectors.

Today's update is these two members handbooks that I'd not seen before. The first ('silver') is for 1985 and the second ('dark blue') covers the 1988/89 year. I'm intrigued to see who's contributed interior art to these and will post an update shortly.

Cartoonists' Club of Great Britain members handbook - 1985

Cartoonists' Club of Great Britain members handbook - 1988/89

Today's update is a look at the 1965 cartoonists club dinner & ball. An event so grand that the prime minister spoke at it!

All images are sourced from this large format (approx. A4) sized, about 80 page brochure. It's rammed with trade adverts & stuff so I've just picked out the most comic-y pages

The actual Prime Minister talking to a bunch of cartoonists!

Check out that fancy food that cartoonists eat!

Its a pretty strong list of winners...Leslie Illingworth, Harry Bishop, Frank Dickens, Reg Smythe, Osbert Lancaster, Jak, Larry

UPDATED: workin klass Super Hero #1 - Glenn Fabry

Ages ago (here to be precise) I looked at a really early Glenn Fabry comic - the 2nd issue of Workin' klass Superhero to be precise - I know that there was never an issue #3 but I'd never looked to see if I could find out anything about issue #1.

A quick bit of googling tuned up some cover images from Lew Stringer's blog here and on John Charles blog here

Still not seen an actual copy in the flesh but, fingers crossed, one day!

UPDATE:
John Freeman has found this advert in the pages of BEM #23(April 1979)...

art by John Charles who says...

and now with a few more inages...
Here's Stevie Nicks (back cover)
