Rock Garden - the menu in the style of a comic (#4)

Ages ago (back in August 2021 - here to be precise) I covered issue #1 (dated 1st April 1978) of the menu at the Rock garden restaurant in Covent Garden. Then in December 2025 (here to be precise) I looked at issue #5

And now, amazingly, issue #4 of the menu / comic has turned up!

For reference the cover dates are as follows...

Issue #1 was dated 1st April 1978 [8 pages]

Issue #4 is dated 19th May 1980 [8 pages]

Issue #5 was dated 1st April 1983 [12 pages]

...I had speculated that this was an annual-ish publication but in fact issues 1-4 came out in the first 2 years and then there was a gap of 3 years until issue #5. It's all to do with inflation I'm sure.

Ages ago (back in August 2021 - here to be precise) I covered issue #1 (dated 1st April 1978) of the menu at the Rock garden restaurant in Covent Garden. And now, amazingly, issue #5 of the menu / comic has turned up!

This is dated 1st April 1983. So the publication dates of issue 2, 3 & 4 cover the time period 1979-1982, so this menu comic is being produced / update nearly annually.

Here are the interior pages (most of them anyway, the menu seems to have expanded from 8 pages to 12). I notice that the cowboy on the hamburger page looks a lot more like a generic cowboy and a lot less like Desperate Dan than in issue #1!

Here's a comic oddity...an 8 page colour menu for a restaurant (in Covent Garden) in the style of a comic. None of the art is signed.

The prices of the items on the menu can be seen in each panel. 

You'll see that the things on the menu aren't aimed at kids (crab claws with garlic mayonnaise on the first page for instance) so it must have been used by all the customers.

Hmmm, who can this character be that's advertising the hamburgers?
