UPDATED: Power Rangers - the official magazine (1996)

I've looked before (here) at Power Rangers comics from 1995 - there have been a lot of Power Rangers comics over the years so it's important to be able to tell them all apart.

There was a Marvel UK comic [not yet covered on the blog] that ran from 1st March 1995 to 1st March 1996 (13 issues) and that title seems to have been followed by this title - "Mighty Morphin Power Rangers - the official magazine". There is comics content but it's limited. These are slim magazines, only 28 pages in total (including covers) but they do all feature a 5 page comic strip at the start of each issue. I'm reliably informed that there were 8 issues in total.

The credits on page 2 of issue one list Helen Nally as art director, Glenn Dakin as editor, Gary Ninja Gilbert as designer and Mark Irvine / Andy Parslow as 'production'.
By issue 4 Jason Quinn is project leader

Here's what I've found so far...the covers for issues 2 & 3 are new for this update

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers - the official magazine, Marvel UK, issue #1, 10th May 1996
story - "Victims of Vegetabully", story & art by Paul Kirchner, inks by Ralph Reese

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers - the official magazine, Marvel UK, issue #2, 24th May 1996
no details of the writer / artists credits to hand

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers - the official magazine, Marvel UK, issue #3, 7th June 1996
no details of the writer / artists credits to hand

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers - the official magazine, Marvel UK, issue #4, 21st June 1996
story is untitled - story by Pat Kelleher, pencils by Andrew Wildman, inks by Bambos Georgiou, colours by John Burns, lettering by Elitta Fell, editor 'Rita' Dakin

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers - the official magazine, Marvel UK, issue #5, 5th July 1996
story is "The return of Sabrina!" - story by Pat Kelleher, pencils by Andrew Wildman, inks by Bambos Georgiou, colours by John Burns, lettering by Elitta Fell, editor Glenn Dakin

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers - the official magazine, Marvel UK, issue #6, 19th July 1996
story is "The ice cream caper!" - story by Ian Carney, art by Brian Williamson, colours by Maria Keane, lettering by Elitta Fell and editor "Chunky" Dakin

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers - the official magazine, Marvel UK, issue #7, 2nd August 1996
story is "Duelling duet!" - story by Pat Kelleher, pencils by Andrew Wildman, inks by Bambos Georgiou, colours by John Burns, lettering by Elitta Fell and the editor is "Dumpster" Dakin
David Leach provides some spot illustrations on other pages

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers - the official magazine, Marvel UK, issue #8, 16th August 1996

story is "Bee-ware" - story by Pat Kelleher, pencils by Andrew Wildman, inks by Bambos Georgiou, colours by Maria Keane, lettering by Elitta Fell and the editor is "Trumpetop" Dakin

Some feedback from the actual editor after my previous post about these...

UPDATED: Zig and Zag's zogazine

Following some positive feedback from my initial posting about the Zogazine I've been able to add a little more information to my original posting, updates are highlighted in red...

As someone with an interest in comics produced by Fleetway (in all its incarnations) rather than DC Thomson I thought I'd share some images of the 6 issue 'Zig and Zag's zogazine' that Fleetway editions produced in late 1994 / early 1995.

Art is just by the one artist, John Moore, but also Kev Sutherland wrote the stories and Mike Butcher was editor (although Dave Hunt is also credited in issue 4 as editor), Elitta Fell also involved (lettering) and Dave Windett pencilled the strips.

I have to say that I'm impressed with how much of a comic this actually is - I thought it might just all be large photos and stuff with mimima actual comics content, but no, it's a real comic.

Dave Hunt also had this to say...
