Monster Wrestlers in my pocket #3

Previously I've looked at a very short lived comic - Monster wrestlers in my pocket - but until recently I didn't have any details of issue 3...I recently missed out on a chance to grab a copy on ebay but I did manage to swipe a few images for you...

Monster Wrestlers in my pocket #2 is here

Wow - it gets more niche...Monster ninja warriors in my pocket - sadly it never made it to a comic series :)

Monster Wrestlers in my pocket #2

Here's a glimpse at issue 2 - it's undated but there's an advert on the back page for issue 3 being on sale on 13th January 1996. So I'll assume this is the December 1995 issue.

Monster wrestlers in my pocket - issues 1+2

I'm always keen to check out the more esoteric end of the British comics market - and sometimes that means delving into the world of the toy tie-in comic. So here we have not just Wrestlers in my pocket but Monster Wrestlers in my pocket. It's a whole new sub-set of a toy-line you'd probably forgotten about.
Anyway, here are the covers to the first 2 issues of this title (it only lasted 3 issues - so if you have a spare copy of issue 3 please let me know and I'll buy if off you!) - cover art is by Don Wazejewski (http://donwazejewski.artweb.com/) who worked his way up from working in fanzines to illustrating strips in new Eagle and in Battle comic.

In both issues art is provided by Don and by Rob Sharp. Contents are adverts for other toys, 'character' profiles; some strip cartoons; games etc.

Ring Raiders comic, 1989 - part 2

Continuing the cover gallery from Ring Raiders, issues 2-4. Contents produced (again) by Ian Kennedy, Carlos Pino, John Gillatt, Sandy James and John Cooper.

Ring Raiders comic, 1989 - part 1

Ring Raiders comic then...ok, so its a toy range tie-in comic but by my reckoning it has the greatest concentration of Fleetway's comic talents of the 80s and 90s...let's check out that bold claim...

Cover is by Ian Kennedy
First strip is illustrated by Carlos Pino (who's just illustrated Commando issue 5000)...
Then you get John Cooper illustrating a strip...
A John Gillatt illustrated strip...
Then it's Don Wazejewski (ok, so he's the least well-known artist here)...but he worked a little bit on Battle and on new Eagle
And you end up with some Sandy James pages...
What a selection! Well worth tracking down.
