Brit Comics Art - latest pieces

Just some highlights from the recent update to the BritComicsArt website (which can be found here - I suggest subscribing to their e-mail updates too)...

A Brian Bolland piece from his early work on Powerman comic in the 1970s. This was £300 I think.

A Cam Kennedy Fighting Mann page from Battle issue #295 - yours for £500

A Robin Smith cover for 2000AD - yours for £3,000

These 3 cover roughs were (I think!) £300 each

Glasgow Comic Art Convention - 1991

I've looked before (here) at the 1990s incarnation of the Glasgow Comic Art Convention (GCAC) that ran from 1990-5. I've been collecting the convention programmes for a long time and this was the final one I needed! I was very pleased to pick this up recently and I'm highlighting just some of the interior art. Good luck tracking down your own copy

Glasgow comic art convention 1991, Judge Dredd by Colin MacNeil

Glasgow comic art convention 1991, Dan Dare (& Digby) by David Pugh

Glasgow comic art convention 1991, DR & Quinch by Alan Davis

Glasgow comic art convention 1991, Judge Dredd by Will Simpson

Glasgow comic art convention 1991, Judge Dredd by Steve Yeowell

Glasgow comic art convention 1991, Wonderwoman by Brian Bolland

and here's a complete list of artists who created art for the souvenir programme

Short Fuse #2 - the 2000AD art

A while ago (here to be precise) I looked at some 2000AD images that had never been published in Short Fuse fanzine.

Thanks to the feedback I got I then put together the 2000AD images that did make it into Short Fuse. I looked at issue 1 here and now we're looking at the unpublished issue 2.

My thanks to Mac Mac Anorak on the '2000AD and Eagle comic fans' Facebook group for sharing these images.

2000AD trading cards - series 1 (2007) - part 7

From 2007 here's my look at Strictly Ink's 2000AD trading cards. I've collected the basic collector cards (#1-72) but there were also Gold Foil, Costume & Bonus Cards.

As it points out on the packaging the odds of finding hand drawn sketch cards or bonus cards are 1:20 packs (so 1-2 per box). Foil cards were 1:12 packs and each box contained (on average) one hand drawn sketch or bonus card.

Cards 1-9 were here
Cards 10-18 were here
Cards 19-27 (part 1) is here
Cards 19-27 (part 2) is here
Cards 28-36 is here

London comics festival 2003

I went to the London comic festival in 2003 but I don't seem to have any photographs or souvenirs of the event. Having recently looked at the 'spin-off' merchandise that Kev Sutherland produced for the Bristol comic festivals...

The (2001) hearts suit of cards is here
The (2001) diamonds suit of cards is here
The (2001) clubs suit of cards is here
The (2001) spades suit of cards is here

He then repeated the exercise in 2003...
Part 1 of the 2003 deck of cards is here
Part 2 of the 2003 deck of cards is here

Part 3 of the 2003 deck of cards is here

...and looking for images to do with the London 2003 festival I found this on ebay...

...and then I found these images of DR & Quinch in the October 2003 issue of Comics International...

...Here's the full article...

...so the next question is - what does the 2003 charity deck of Christmas cards look like? In fact I'd be interested in any other images of the festival

Here's an ad from the November 2003 issue of Comics International which features a circle saying "including deck of Christmas cards charity art auction"
