Cover for Oink! issue 58 by Lew Stringer

Just a quick shout-out for this piece of original comic art that cartoonist Lew Stringer currently has up for sale. As he says...

This is my FIRST VERSION of the cover artwork to OINK! comic No.53 (1988). Although I was pleased with the face of PETE AND HIS PIMPLE, I wasn't happy with how I'd done the captions so I rejected it and started again. (These days I could have adjusted things in Photoshop but back in 1988 that wasn't a thing.)

ANYWAY, this is the half completed first version of the cover that hopefully will interest collectors!

Black ink on Bristol Board. Original art, not a print, not a facsimile.

Condtion: Excellent!

Bidding ends on Monday night - good luck if you bid!

Ham Dare, Oink annual 1989

All these images are c/o Lew Stringer who recently auctioned off 3 pages of the Dan Dare parody strip Ham Dare. The pages sold for £609 - a great price! Ham Dare really is the best Dan Dare parody strip ever and the art of (the late) Malcolm Douglas really is great. So many authentic details from both writer & artist show the high regard they held for the original Dare strip.

Ham Dare appeared in Oink! issues 14-19, the 1988 annual, the 1989 annual and the 1989 holiday special

Psychogran exhibition - don't miss out!

Not much longer for fans of David Leach's Psychogran comic character to pop into the Bellue Vue pub (just by High Wycombe train station fact fans) to catch his Psychogran exhibition.

I popped in the other evening to have a look at what was there...

There's plenty of prints of the images from Pyschogran #2 - these are available to buy at £20 (unframed but signed) and £30 (framed and signed)

There's also the very first sketches of Psychogran - and plenty of other original art...

Here's the 'Gran from the pages of Oink (strip entitled 'Waiting for the bus')

The story behind the 'birth' of Psychogran

Original art on display...

David's biography...

Retro comic games - can you help?

Just trying to gather up images of 80s / 90s computer games featuring British comic characters - these are the only ones I could come up off the top of my head, which ones have I missed? Thanks.

The above two images are for the same Rogue game but the images were sufficiently different for me to put both of them up.

There's a great review of 2000ad character driven games here and also here
