Treasury of British Comics exhibition - a few pictures

A few snaps from the 'Treasury of British comics' exhibition currently on at Orbital comics in central London. I went on a Tuesday afternoon and the space was closed because they were sorting out all the new comics ready for getting them on the shelves on (new comics) Wednesday. You have been warned!

More John Stokes & Marney the Fox launch night photos

A final selection of photos from John Stokes' night at Gosh last Friday...

Lovely signature & sketch from John...

Close up on Marney...

This is the bookplate

This is the 'print' [it's on thick card - does that make it a print?] that come with the bookplate edition of Marney

The cover to Great Expectations - illustrated by John for Classical comics. A wonderful page that I was delighted to be given.

John Stokes @ Gosh comics

Here's some pictures of John Stokes talking, signing and giving away pages of his original artwork at Gosh on Friday night. He was talking to Any Oliver (in hat - from Broken Frontier) and Ben Smith (head of publishing @ Rebellion). It was a pretty intimate gathering to hear John talk hi life in comics and how Marney the Fox come about as a strip and why it had been plucked, seemingly from out of thin air, to be published by Rebellion as part of their Treasury of British Comics line. John was a pleasure to hear talk, he was full of enthusiasm, happy to talk about his time working on a myriad of titles and blessed with the sort of energy that should keep him going for a great many years yet!
A great evening.

Marney the Fox - limited edition volume announced

Marney the Fox is currently available to pre-order on Amazon (here)
A GRIPPING STORY OF A YOUNG FOX’S STRUGGLE IN A HOSTILE WORLD!
When his mother is killed and his siblings taken by a farmer, Marney the fox cub finds himself left all alone in the beautiful yet deadly Devon countryside. From dodging blood-thirsty humans to encountering an array of wild animals, Marney must rely on all of his strength and cunning to survive.
This is a brilliantly constructed and complete story (collected here for the first time), showcasing the astonishing work of artist John Stokes and the glorious imagination of writer Scott Goodall.

or as the Amazon blurb has it....
Marney the Fox is a Lassie-style tale of a lone fox up against wicked humans via Watership Down and Fantastic Mr Fox.

But even more interesting/exciting is that there will also be 50 copies printed of a hardplate bookplate edition, including a numbered bookplate and art print, each signed by John Stokes.

You can buy that here
