A New Year means New Beginnings at By The Cute and Girly

HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Out with the old and in with the new!
The challenge this month at By The Cute and Girly is to create something to do with a New Beginning.
It could be a new Baby, a new job, a new Home, a new Love, a new School, anything you like!
And remember we want to see things other than cards as we have lots of prizes on offer each month! So make a scrapbook page, alter a book, arrange some flowers, bake a cake, whatever it is just take a photo and join in with the fun, you may just be the winner!

For this challenge I decided to make a couple of things.
Firstly for people moving into a New Home.
I found a wonderful little birdhouse to alter and made a matching card too!

Paper Play also had a New Beginnings theme
Stampin For The Weekend had a New Beginnings theme too
Mojo Monday had the sketch for the card
Crafty Angels wanted you to Try Something New. Well I've seen birdhouses completed, painted, papered etc but this is my 1st try at one.
The Digi Kitty had a free stamp of a bird and wanted you to use it.

I used Colorbok papes on both the birdhouse and card.
The card image is from the How Tweet Bird collection from Lily Boos and the bird on the house is freebie at The Digi Kitty
I colored both images with Copic's.
I added Prima flowers to both projects too.

Then for New Years
Simon Says Stamp had a Party theme
Everybody Art had a New Years theme
Paper Cutz also had New Years for the theme
Charisma had a Celebrations theme
Three Clovers also had a Celebrations theme
Our Creative Corner wanted to see "Food or Drink"
Stamp With Fun had a New Years theme
Sketch and Stash gave me the sketch
Hope Stamps Eternalhad some great Party Cupcakes for inspiration
Digital Ink had a New Beginnings recipe of gold or silver/gray or black and something glittery, ribbon, and incorporate some kind of distressing
Crafty Creations wanted Glitter and Bling for the New Year

For this card I used the super sweet Party Pippin which is the latest release from Wendy at Digital Delights. I colored him with Copic's and a gold Prismacolor pen.
The fabulous dp is from SEI and the gold textured cardstock from American Crafts.
The sentiment is from 7 Gypsies/
The flowers are Brides and the pearls are Queen and Co.
The border punch is Martha Stewart Deco Fan.

There are plenty of things this theme covers and I'd love to see you join in, the prizes are super!!!
Have fun and I hope you have a wonderful 2010!

A New Sketch Challenge at The Pixie Cottage!

Another triple posting day but it's worth it!
It's time for a new Once Upon A Wednesday challenge at The Pixie Cottage and this time it's a new sketch.

It was a great sketch to work with and I added a few other challenges along side it.

Ildi Co had a color combo of Black and Bright
Paper Play wanted Christmas with No Red and Green
Creative Inspirations wanted Non Traditional Christmas colors, no red and green
Dutch Dare had a photo inspiration with the colors Black, Aqua/Blue and White
Stamp Something want you to "Glitz Something"
Tuesday Taggers had the theme of "Christmas Trees"
Simon Says Stamp had the theme of "Let It Snow"
Creatalicious wanted Snow and Sparkle

I used Winter Hannah on a Bench as my image and I just loved working with her. I just checked and there are now 51 stamp designs by The Pixie Cottage with new ones being added all the time. I love that there are different artists, all adding their own flair and style to the images.
I colored Hannah with Copic's. The dp is a combination of Basic Grey and My Minds Eye.
I don't usually say this but I highly recommend clicking on the photo to see the trees in a large form. I covered them with Tulip Puffy Paint in white and then before heating I sprinkled Art Institute Ultra Fine Transparent glitter in Crystal onto the wet surface.
Then I very gently heated it , held the heat gun as far away as possible, until it puffed up enough to look like snow capped trees.

Inside is a ribbon topped message mat.

Hopefully you can get a good look at the snow effect here.
I love playing with products not designed specifically for the scrapbooking and cardmaking market, it really widens your horizon.
I hope you liked Hannah and I'd love to see your creations with the wonderful sketch at The Pixie Cottage.

Trick or Treat - New Pile It On Challenge card

Happy Sunday,
I hope you are all having a great weekend.
Today's card is my DT card for the Pile It On challenge.
Today's challenge is to include punches on your card and we got to work with the super images from Crazed which was great.
As Pile It On is a blog that wants you to combine as many challenges as you can I obvious had to do a little searching before creating my card.
Delightful Sketches started me off with the sketch (I love their sketches and try to do each one)
Tuesday Taggers wanted Punches and/or Die Cuts.
PaperTake Weekly wanted "Fake Anything" so I added faux (aren't I being posh!)stitching to the mat on the front and inside too.
Everybody Art Challenge was looking for something Shabby so I inked the edges of the mats as well.
Daring Cardmakers wanted us to get Shabby too!
Paper Maniac wanted you to use Ribbon.
Belli wanted a Fall or Halloween theme.
Paper Play were looking for tags so I add my sentiment on one.
Treehouse Stamps wanted us to go "Just Around The Corner" and I think my fancy corner punch counts here!
Finally I used the elements from the recipe at my own challenge blog Cooking It Up With Katie which was use 1 image, 2 shapes (I used squares and circles) and 3 paper embellishments which I did with the square accents, punched borders and paper tag.

This fantastic image is from my new favorite artist, Mo Manning, and she is simply called Halloween Witch. She was so wonderful to color and I admit I'm getting hooked on her illustrations and stalk her blog and site every day!
The papers The Paper Studio and the Bat border punch is from EK Success. The Halloween accents are from this weeks Pile It On sponsor Crazed and the sheet is called Halloween Fun. They have a fabulous deal of 5 sheets for $10 going on right now so it's the perfect time to try them out! Plus enter the challenge and you will be in with a chance to win some!
The sentiment sticker is The Paper Studio also. I used an older Emaginations corner punch but sadly that company is no longer around :(

The inside is more dp and a matching "shabby" message mat with an additional rub on sentiment that I aged with more inking.

I hope you'll give Pile It On a try this week and get your punches out and get creating!
Have a great rest of your Sunday.

You're a T-Riffic Friend! My Grafico DT card

Happy Monday!
Today I have a wonderful new card for the challenge over at My Grafico and it's all about Dinosaurs!
They have a wonderful set of digital stamps at the My Grafico Store designed by Meljen Designs called simply Dinosaurs! I got to work with the T-Rex and I thought he was so adorable!

If you join in the challenge you get a chance to win the set for yourself!
This card also covers a few challenges:
The Cuttlebug Spot" wanted a favorite folder (I have so many faves!)
Tuesday Morning Sketches gave me the sketch
Simon Says Stamp wanted buttons and ribbons
Paper Play wanted All Creatures Great and Small
Dare U2 Digi wanted us to get Distressed
and both
Whimsy Stamps
and
No Time To Stamp wanted a card for friends.

I printed the T-Rex out on a piece of green dp and some blue cardstock and paper pieced the scales and stomach parts. I colored the claws with a Sharpie Paint Pen.
The ribbons are pieces from my scrap jar and I printed the sentiment.
I inked the embossed mat and the sentiment mat with chalk ink and added buttons from The Paper Studio.
I hope you like him and I'd love you to drop on over to the My Grafico Challenge blog and join in with the challenge too!
