33DC Day 13: Chinese

Hi dear readers !

For today's 33DC, I first thought I could do some stamping. But then, I remembered of those so pretty water decals with Koi fishes and chinese writing, so I chose them :)

I wanted to make some pink glitter sandwich, but you almost can't notice it in the pictures. It looked way better in real life :)

I started with two coats of Essie Blanc for the base, the added one coat of China Glaze Tinsel and covered it with one coat of OPI Think in Pink.
And finally, I added the water decals ! Aren't they gorgeous ?

Hello !

Pour le 33DC d'aujourd'hui, j'avais pensé à faire un petit stamping chinois, puis je me suis souvenue de ces jolis water decals avec des carpes Koi et des écritures chinoises, donc je les ai choisis :)

Je voulais faire un glitter sandwich rose, mais ça se voit à peine sur les photos, c'était mieux en vrai :)
J'ai commencé avec Blanc d'Essie en base, puis j'ai posé Tinsel de China Glaze et enfin une couche de Think in Pink d'OPI.
J'ai terminé avec les water decals, ne sont-ils pas superbes ?

Mint Sandwich

It has been a long time since my latest sandwich manicure ! I thought it was time for a new one :)

I started with two coats of China Glaze For Audrey for the color base. I topped it with multicolor glitters from Essence Confetti Circus, and finally added one coat of my favorite white jelly, Essie Marshmallow.

That's all, very simple like most jelly sandwich manicures but still lovely ! I was even complimented at a job interview haha ! (but didn't get the job, btw)

Ca faisait longtemps que je n'avais plus fait de jelly sandwich ! Je me suis dit qu'il était temps de m'y remettre, et voilà le résultat :)

J'ai commencé avec deux couche de For Audrey (China Glaze) pour la base colorée. J'y ai ajouté une bonne couche de paillettes multicolores avec Circus Confetti (Essence), et j'ai terminé avec mon blanc jelly préféré, Marshmallow d'Essie.

C'est tout, c'est hyper simple comme la plupart des sandwich manis, mais pas moins joli pour autant ! J'ai même reçu des compliments sur mes ongles lors d'un entretien d'embauche ! (ceci dit, je n'ai pas eu le job)

Flakies Sandwich

When I got back from Barcelona in february and tried my new polishes on swatchicles, I noticed that one of the Evershines was a jelly. I thought it would be a good idea to use it in a sandwich manicure, combined with some pretty flakies :)

I also didn't resist to add stamping over it, so here it is :)

 

I started with two coats of Evershine 29, a dark pink jelly, then added a coat of Essence Night in Vegas, another coat of Evershine, a second coat of flakies and a final coat of Evershine. Yeah, that's a lot of coats and I could have stopped after the first layers, but I hoped that a second layer of flakes would make them look deeper. It didn't, but it was still pretty and I liked it ;)
The stamping was made with Bundle Monster plate BM318 and black Konad polish. I absolutely love that pattern. Hibiscus are one of my favorite flowers, and I can't wait for the real good weather to come back so they'll bloom in my garden :)

I didn't know what to expect from that Evershine polish, it was my first experience with the brand. When trying something new, I'm always a bit afraid: it could apply badly, take hours to dry, chip quickly or stain my nails (especially with such a dark, bright color).
But nothing of these happened :) I'm very satisfied of this polish !

Quand je suis rentrée de Barcelone en février dernier, j'ai essayé mes nouveaux vernis sur des swatchicles et ai remarqué qu'un de mes Evershine était un jelly. Je me suis dit que j'allais l'utiliser en sandwich, c'est aujourd'hui chose faite, combiné à des flakies :)

Je n'ai évidemment pas résisté à l'appel du stamping ;)

J'ai commencé avec deux couches d'Evershine 29, un rose vif foncé, puis j'ai ajouté une couche d'Essence Night in Vegas, une autre couche d'Evershine, une second couche de flakies et enfin une couche finale d'Evershine. Ca fait beaucoup de couches tout ça, non ?
En fait j'aurais pu m'arrêter aux premières couches de sandwich, mais j’espérais qu'en ajouter donnerait plus de profondeur aux flakes. Ce ne fut pas le cas, mais c'était tout de même joli, et j'ai apprécié le résultat :)

Je ne savais pas trop à quoi m'attendre avec ce vernis Evershine, c'était ma première fois avec cette marque.
Quand j'essaie quelque chose de nouveau en vernis, j'ai toujours plusieurs craintes: que ça s'applique mal, que ça mette une éternité à sécher, que ça s'écaille au bout de quelques heures ou encore qu'il déteigne sur mes ongles (surtout pour une couleur vive comme celle là)
Rien de tout ça n'est arrivé :) Je suis vraiment contente d'avoir craque sur cette petite marque pas trop connue chez nous ^^

Christmas Sandwich

Well, Christmas is gone now, but I still had this manicure I did for that day and didn't show you yet :)

At first, I wanted to do a glitter gradient starting from the cuticles with a method I never tried before. It's that method where you put some glitters near the cuticle line then drag them to create the gradient. I don't know if I did something wrong or if I just need more training, but I wasn't pleased with the result. Too much red glitters packed in some spots !

Anyway, here it is ...

I used Essie Marshmallow as the base and China Glaze Hearty Party for the glitters, I saw this combo on many blogs and I think they look really good together.
But Marshmallow is soooo sheer, after 3 coats I still could see my nail line and I hate that :(

I was in a hurry and didn't want to remove the complete many so I tried something else ...

I covered my whole nails with Party Hearty. Pretty, but not so original ...

I needed something else ! and so, I sandwiched :)

Oh, I prefer it this way ! I always love that milky look with Marshmallow used for the sandwich :)

Hello !

Bon, je sais, il est un peu tard pour les manucures de Noel, mais j'avais encore celle-ci en réserve ...

Au départ, je voulais faire un glitter gradient avec une méthode que je n'avais pas encore essayée, vous savez, celle où l'on applique un peu de vernis pailleté près des cuticules, ensuite on "tire" le vernis vers le bas pour étendre les paillettes. Je ne sais pas si je m'y suis mal prise ou si c'est juste une question d'entraînement, mais je n'ai pas vraiment aimé le résultat. Trop de paillettes rouges sont restées en petits paquets :s

Voici quand même ce que ça donnait ...


J'ai utilisé Essie Marshmallow en base et Chine Glaze Hearty Party pour les paillettes, j'ai vu ce combo sur plusieurs blogs et je trouve que ces vernis vont vraiment bien ensemble !
Mais Marshmallow est tellement transparent, même après 3 couches on voyait la démarcation de mes ongles, et j'ai ça en horreur :(
Comme j'étais un peu pressée, pas question de tout enlever, donc j'ai essayé autre chose ...
J'ai simplement appliqué Party Hearty complètement sur les ongles. Pas mal, mais pas vraiment original, il me fallait autre chose !

Alors j'ai "sandwiché", et enfin ça m'a plu !
J'adore toujours autant le rendu un peu lacté que Marshmallow donne quand il est utilisé en sandwich :)

Et vous, vous en pensez quoi ?

Pink Jelly Sandwich

It has been a long time since my last jelly sandwich ! When I received my bottle of OPI You Glitter Be Good to Me, I knew that's what I wanted to do with it :)

YGBGTM (I love OPI names but sometimes they are long, uh?) is a pretty polish made of small pink and big purple glitters. It's a part of the Breast Cancer Awareness duo pack that was released last month.

I used Essie Marshmallow, which is my fave jelly polis for sandwiches :)

There are two coats of Marshmallow, one coat of YGBGTM and one coat of Marshmallow again, all covered with Seche Vite.

I loved the result, so sweet and candy-like :)

Ca fait un petit moment que je n'avais plus fait de jelly sandwich ! Quand j'ai reçu mon OPI You Glitter Be Good to Me, j'ai tout de suite su que c'était ce que je voulais faire avec lui :)

YGBGTM (j'aime bien les noms OPI mais parfois ils sont longs hein ^^) est un joli vernis composé de fines paillettes roses et de plus grosses paillettes mauves dans une base transparente. Il fait partie du duo pack sorti le mois passé pour la lutte contre le cancer du sein.

J'ai utilisé Marshmallow d'Essie qui est mon petit chouchou pour les sandwiches !
Il y a donc deux couches de Marshmallow, une couche de YBBGTM et à nouveau une couche de Marshmallow, le tout scellé au Seche Vite.

J'aime bien l'effet bonbon et le côté tout doux de cette manucure :)

Green & Purple Jelly Sandwich

One week ago, I showed you my first jelly sandwich made with Essie Marshmallow and told you how much I loved it ... Well, it didn't take me long to need a new sandwich combo !

This time I decided to use bright purple and green glitters. Again, I loved the result ! It makes me think of some sour candies ...

Do you like it ?

I used two coats of Essie Marshmallow as the base, then added NYX Enchanted Forest and Super Funk, and ended with a last coat of Marshmallow and Seche Vite.

It's easy, fast to make if you help yourself with some Seche Vite, and each time it's different ... How not to like jelly sandwiches ? :)

Jelly Sandwich with Essie Marshmallow

Hi dear readers !

These last weeks, I saw a lot of jelly sandwiches made with Essie Marshmallow, and they all looked good ! That's how I decided I HAD to get Marshmallow haha :D
I got it last week and did a jelly sandwich with blue glitters ...

Aaaaw, I totally loved it ! It looks so sweet with that milky effect, I couldn't stop staring at my nails. I obviously need to do that with other glitter combos ...

Here's my sandwich recipe: two coats of Essie Marshmallow, one coat of Essence Glorious Aquarius and one other coat of Essie Marshmallow, sealed with Seche Vite :)

Glorious Aquarius is really bright on it's own, so the milky look is a big change. I never swatched it but you can see it on a ring I made here.

Pink Wednesday: First Jelly Sandwich

Hi sweeties !

Have you seen those awesome jelly sandwiches (or glitter sandwiches if you prefer) that popped on nail blogs since this summer ? I couldn't resist to that trend (well, if it's still a trend, I'm so late on trying new stuff ...) and did my own.

Jelly sandwich is very easy and gives amazing results. All you need is a sheer polish with a jelly finish, and a glitter polish.

I started with two coats of OPI Do You Think I'm Tex-Y, then added one coat of OPI Spark de Triomphe, one coat of Essence Louise (I wanted some square glitters) and finally applied two other coats of Tex-Y. I prefered to use each coat for each "sandwich" part to get a more intense color. Here's the result:

Can you see the depth given to the glitter by the jelly polish ? It really has a unique look !

You might know that I usually don't like sheer polish because of the vnl, but now I've tried that, be sure I'll get some of them to create some pretty jelly sandwiches :D
