Mi primer "especie de" tutorial. Perdón por las fotos: son horribles, estoy intentanto mejorar en ese departamento, pero lleva tiempo.
Este vestido es para la hija de una compañera. Me gusta bastante poco coser disfraces, porque te lo tienes que ir inventando según vas, sin patrón, ni instrucciones, precisamente por eso hago este tutorial por si alguien se anima y tiene tan poca idea como yo antes de empezar.

This dress is for one of my colleagues´s daughter. I quite dislike sewing costumes, frequently you just have to wing it, with no pattern, no instructions... That´s precisely why I write this tutorial, maybe there is somebody who needs a costume for Carnival and have as little a clue as I had before doing this.
Materiales:
75 cm de tejido con lentejuelas
75 cm forro
3 metros de fleco
1.5 metros de cinta decorativa brillante

You´ll need:
30 inches long of sequined fabric
30 inches long of lining fabric
3.3 yards of fringe
1.6 yards of decorative ribbon

Problema: El tejido de lentejuelas no es lo suficiente fuerte para aguantar las tiras de flecos, se estira para todos los lados, se mueve mas que el diente de un niño de siete años.
Mi solución: utilizar un forro y usarlo como si fuera una sola tela y hacer las menos costuras posibles.
Problem: The sequined fabric cannot hold the weight of the finge, it stretches and moves around so much. Mi solution is to use a lining fabric underneath and work as if it was one, and also use as little seams as possible
Para lo de las costuras y dado que los vestidos de charleston son un poco como tubos, hice un patrón en papel con las medidas de la niña (pecho, cintura y caderas), divididas entre dos, ya que se va a cortar en el doblez y añadí 1,5 margen de costura, excepto en el bajo que le añadí 5 cm.
Para el largo, la medida de la niña desde las axilas hasta donde tu quieras que llegue
I drew a pattern with half the measures of the girl (Chest, waist and hips) added the usual seam allowance plus 2 inches in the lower part. I also measure the girl from the armpits to where I wanted the dess to end, at the knee.
Corté igual las dos telas igual en el doblez
I cut both fabrics in the same manner on the fold
Poniendo derecho con derecho cosí ambas telas por el borde de arriba.
Y me asegure que el forro no se moviera pasando otra costura en los margenes sobre el forro, a 1 cm de distancia de la primera costura
With right sides together I sewed both lining and sequined fabic.
I understitched the seam allowances to the lining so it didn´t move.

Ahora ya tenemos las dos telas juntas. Y vamos con lo mas delicado: ponerle los flecos. Lo primero que hice fué hacer un hilvan donde iba a poner los flecos, primero como guia y segundo para que no se moviera ninguna tela cuando cosa fleco y dos telas.
Medida entre flecos: que la de arriba tape ligeramente a la de abajo.
We´ve got both fabrics together. Now for the fringe. First thing I did was basting where the fringes will lay later so the fabrics won´t budge when I sew through all the thickness

no se aprecia mucho el hilván. Los plomos muy necesario para que no se mueva nada mientras hilvanas.

Con mucho cuidado, por el derecho de las lentejuelas colocas los flecos y les pasas un hilvan antes de meterlo todo a la máquina. Vete colocando uno por uno empezando por el de arriba. Yo hice tres filas. Lo de uno por uno es para que no se te lien y cosas los de arriba con los de abajo.
Very carefully place the fringes on the right side of the sequined fabric, one by one starting with the one on top. Baste them before sewing so they don´t move.
En la fila de arriba, cose (a mano mejor) la cinta brillante. Colocalo alrededor de la modelo para marcar con alfileres donde van a ir cosidos los tirantes y la longitud de estos.
On the top row, sew on the decorative ribbon. Try on the girl to see where you have to place the shoulder straps and mark them with pins.
Corta dos tiras, una de unos 60 cm de larga y 4 cm de ancha para los tirantes, en ambas telas para tirantes. Otra un poco más ancha, unos 6 cm y 52 de larga para la cinta de la cabeza, tambien dos telas. Colocalas derecho con derecho, hilvana y cose. En la más ancha no cierres en ningún canto corto, en la estrecha sí, para que sea más facil darle la vuelta.
Cut two strips of both fabrics. One 23 inches long and 0.8 wide for the straps and the other 20.4 inches long and 2.4 wide for the hair band. With right sides together, baste and sew. In the widest one don´t close the ends, in the thinner, close one end to make it easier to turn the strap.

Cierra el vestido colocando la cremallera, puedes usar este método.

Después cirra el vestido hasta abajo y termina el bajo. Cose las tiras de los hombros en su sitio.
Then close the dress to the bottom and finish the bottom part turning both fabrics and sewing them. Sew the shoulder straps in place
A la cinta de la cabeza le metemos un trocito de elástico en los bordes abiertos metiendolos un poco hacia adentro.
We add a little elastic band to the open edges of the head band turning in the edges a bit.
Y ya está. Le puedes añadir una pluma a la banda de la cabeza, una boa de plumas, collares de perlas...
And ready!. You can now add a feather to the headband, a feather boa, long pearl necklaces...
