This bar, called Dumont, is under the street level on West Fourth. We attended a party there a few days ago.

Love this bar

We stopped by the bar in Hotel San Jose for a quick drink the other night. A pleasant space where quiet conversation is the norm. Liked the ambiance.

Dreams Come True

Long ago some Austin lady musician legends made a wonderful album together. They had a reunion at Antone's last month.  Jackie got this great shot and said:

"We had fun at Antone’s for the reunion of “the girls” who made the 1990 “Dreams Come True” album – one of our favorites. Marcia Ball, Lou Ann Barton and Angela Strehli, of course."

Jackie captured this bar scene on Christmas Day at Threadgill's on Riverside Drive. I'm guessing some of those folks are getting their veggies in a Bloody Mary!

Linda and I attended the soft opening of  a new restaurant called Boiler Nine in our neighborhood a few nights ago. I took this shot from the catbird seat that they gave us.

Stubbs To Go

The Mean-Eyed Cat Bar on West Fifth serves up Stubbs Barbeque. Jackie has been partaking when she's in the neighborhood. She says:

The brisket plate, with cole slaw and serrano cheese spinach was ample and photogenic. I later discovered it was all delicious.

Now I have to try it.

We stayed for a couple of nights in the new Van Zandt Hotel in the Rainey Street district. This photo I shot with my iPhone shows the fancy crowd in the bar at Geraldine's, their restaurant. We were impressed with the hipness factor.
