Walk the walk, love the mural

We took a nice walk in Clarksville today. Here you see my backside in a photo taken by my wife, Linda Ball. The mural on the side of Nau's Drugstore says, "Love is the question, love is the answer." Hard to argue.

Little Free Library

On our wanderings during the pandemic through various neighborhoods we have visited lots of Little Free Libraries. We peruse the offerings (we've taken a few) and I often carry books we want to give away in my backpack to place in them.

Strolling on the Highway

The busiest thoroughfare through town has a protected path for pedestrians, scooters, and bikes to get over Lady Bird Lake. To the left of my partner, you see exit lanes and main northbound lanes of Interstate 35. Some of the buildings around Rainey Street and beyond can be seen.

Fork in the Road

When you are walking the Hike and Bike, there are choices like this one on the south shore.

Shoal Creek Trail

The Shoal Creek Trail has been redone from Fifth to West. Here's FFP climbing down the steps from Fifth. That's my finger over the lens trying to grab the picture with my phone!

Too narrow

Here's FFP walking on a too narrow part of the near South Lamar sidewalk.

No Sidewalks

The east side of near South Lamar. In parts, there are bad sidewalks. Here, none. That's my husband treading along. He's been nursing an ankle injury and we haven't been walking a lot. I miss it. This was taken in November. I think I'll post more pictures of him walking with me at a respectful distance. (Kidding, I just fall behind while talking pictures.)

How About a Little Succulent?

FFP waits for me while I take a picture of the succulents outside Farm to Market grocery on South Congress. Might make a great gift for a friend.

Me, reflecting

Here is a shot I took of myself in the elevator lobby the other day while I was waiting to go downstairs. We have been here almost ten years now.

Walking by Mexico

The Mexic-Arte Museum on Congress changes the murals along Fifth Street often. Here's FFP walking by one as we take one of our downtown adventure walks.

Honoring FFP Today

This long-winded quote (in the style of the one at Jo's on SoCo) says "I love you in a space where there is no place nor time." I think BD might be Bridget Dunlap. She's the brains behind a lot of Rainey Street spots including the bar called Container Bar where this appeared.

I do love FFP on his special day.

Our Favorite Picture of the Year

Today is a new year and traditionally City Daily Photo participants reprise their favorite photo of the year. We got a new camera late in the year, a digital SLR Nikon 5100. We have a point and shoot camera we keep near our balcony door and FFP was shooting the sunrise with it when I got him in the act with the new camera. We ran this for the December 1st theme day (Looking Out) but we also chose it as our favorite of the year after considering these. You can visit other cities and see the bloggers' favorites here.

Looking Out

One morning I shot FFP's picture while he was trying to get the perfect sunrise picture from our condo. Today is City Daily Photo theme day. Today's theme is 'looking out' which is bound to be interpreted in a variety of ways. Click here for other interpretations.

Art at Idea City

If you go by GSD&M's Idea City right now you will see an installation of these reflective streamers. It is some sort of outdoor art initiative. Went by the second time and tried to scan QR code but didn't get info. It's part of 'Art in Place' or something. Anyway, even when you pound the same pavement things change.

By the way, it's the first of the month (and April Fool's Day) and usually we would participate in a theme day at City Daily Photo. However, the portal is down and has been for over a week. And the theme is cobblestones. We would have had to find some fake ones anyway since we are in Texas where settlers pushing west (and the natives here before them) didn't put down cobblestones. So this is just an ordinary post, no joke. Hope the portal is revived soon but, if not, we will soldier on and we'll collect some links for you to others we favor. Julie from Sydney has created a temporary roundup of those participating in theme day. One of our favorites, Menton Daily Photo, has a particularly nice photo today.

Love Love

Just after Valentine's Day, this graffiti graced the Lamar underpass. Things get painted over quickly there. Love love, though.

More Plastic Fauna

Man's Best Friend and that other furry pet thing are represented at this West Lynn vet's office by giant plastic images in hues perhaps not really found in nature. FFP is there for scale.

Another Man's View

We went to a party at the W Residences. Here's Forrest with the master bedroom view behind him.

Graffiti Continued

On the side of Jo's Coffee on South Congress is this bit of graffiti. It seems sort of sweet but I guess it is really a tag and not Jo's decoration. FFP posed with it. Feeling the love.

New Store on SoCo

FFP is checking out this new store front on South Congress. It appears to have rugged clothing for men although the name seems to suggest something bolder to me. It joins Luther's on SoCo so that, along with Allen's Boots and several vintage stores, the male fashion sense ought to be well-served.

Matching up

Here is a shot of a painting I did a few years ago and some flowers we bought the other day for a dinner party. They are in the dining room of our condo now. When we brought the flowers home, I was thinking that they would make a good match for the painting. The photo is a bit blurry, since I had to turn the flash off to avoid making a light flare on the painting.
