10 Minute Craft Dash #14

Hi there!

Swinging by to bring you my take on the current 10 Minute Craft Dash challenge. I'm prepping this post during the intermission of the hockey game, so let's see if I can write it in 10 minutes too!

Here are the challenge colors:

Lovely, springy colors. This is what I came up with. I am really crushing on this Mini Blooms set right now.

I die cut a circle from Oatmeal cardstock and randomly stamped the flowers and leaves from the set. I sliced half the circle and stitched around the outside edge before hitting it with a little Antique Linen Distress Ink. The sentiment was die cut from Kraft cardstock using the Wonderful Words: Hello Die.

Time to finish: 9 min 18 seconds.

I think a set of cards with different colored flowers would make a really pretty gift. Really love this stamp set.

That's it for me - going back to the hockey game! Have a great day! :)

Play Date Cafe Challenge #172

ETA: Hello, hello! This is my second post of the day. To see Day 3 of the upcoming Waltzingmouse Stamps release, scroll down or click here (you won't want to miss it!)

Good morning!

Its Thursday, so today I am sharing a new color challenge from the Play Date Cafe.

This week, we are using a bold and bright color combination. Look at this fabulous inspiration picture!

Here is the card that I made with this week's colors...hollyhock, spring bud, and azure.

I started by die cutting an oval from some printer paper, then laid it over my card front. I stamped the flower clusters over the mask in green ink. I stamped the same flowers again onto scrap cream cardstock in pink and blue and fussy cut a few of them to layer on my card.

I hope you will join us for this week's challenge! You can link up your creation over at The Play Date Cafe Blog. You have through Tuesday, March 12th to play along. While you're there, you can check out the Cup of the Week prize from ScrapbookPal.com. Thank you for sponsoring us again ScrapbookPal!

Je t'aime

Happy Monday!

I'm starting this week off well - could only find one shoe, was late getting out of the house this morning, and I forgot to grab my camera card reader so I can't share the card I created for the new 10 Minute Craft Dash Challenge. Boo!

I hope you will stop back tomorrow to see it, but until then, I have another little card that I created and haven't shared.

When in doubt, put a doily on it! :)

Just a fun little number using some chevron patterned paper (For the Record 2), a label, and some washi tape. This is my quick and easy, dears.

I hope your Monday is off to a better start than mine. I look forward to seeing you back here tomorrow!

Have a good one!

All of a sudden its been a little busy around here! I am here today to bring you this week's Play Date Cafe Challenge. I am sure you wouldn't be surprised to hear me tell you that I love this week's color story!

The colors are Cadet Blue, Chartreuse, and Leather (I love that pillow!).

Here is the card I created using those fabulous colors.

I used the Stitched Sentiments stamp set and dies from Papertrey Ink to create this card. I like the way the colors look with this design, and am especially fond of those little berries on the branches!

This is a bold and fun color combination - I hope you will join us! You can link up your creation over at The Play Date Cafe Blog. You have through Tuesday, January 15th to play along. While you're there, you can check out the Cup of the Week prize from our fabulous challenge sponsor, Simon Says Stamp!

CardMaker and CardSwaps Blog Hop

Hi there!

Today the CardMaker Blog Team is participating in the CardSwaps Blog Hop. You should have arrived at my blog from Marlene. Angelina will be your next stop. If you just happened to pop in and you'd like to start the hop from the beginning, head over to the CardMaker Blog to see what Brooke has created today.

The theme of today's hop is 'treat yourself' and we're focusing on the different ways we're nice to ourselves. Taking the time to do things that you enjoy is a nice thing (and sometimes a treat), wouldn't you say? And if you know me, you know I love to bird watch.

Here is the card that I made, incorporating some fancy birds into my design.

(Navy is my new favorite color right now. I have a feeling it will be making an appearance often in my future creations!)

Feeding and watching the birds is just one of those things that makes me really happy. I love to see all the different kinds that visit my feeders and I often spend free moments watching them out my kitchen window.

This little girl has been a regular this summer...

I keep hoping she'll bring her man so I can see him in all his ruby-throated glory, but I will settle for the fact that she's brought her babies. So cool!

In addition to all the eye candy, there is an unscramble game as part of the blog hop. For those of you playing along, my letter is I. Your next stop is Angelina! Make sure to hop all the way through and collect all the letters, and Lora will take you to the CardSwaps Forum and give you more information about playing along with the challenges and games that coincide with the hop.

Have a great day!

Thanks Friend

I'm tapping into my photo archives to share a card with you today.

This was one of the first cards I made with PTI's Rosie Posie set.

When I stamped the hexagon pattern, I left a space for my sentiment. I just used the end of the stamp and lined it up above and below the space I wanted to leave open. A row of hearts inside the hexagons and a little sentiment from Mixed Messages was just the thing to finish it off.

You could do this in any color combination, and probably just about any occasion, too.  Fun stuff!  Thanks for stopping in!

Sweet Day

Good morning. I hope you had a good weekend. We finished projects, did some antiquing, caught up on some deadlines - it was very productive.

Today I thought I would share the card I made for my Mom for Mother's Day.

Simple and sweet. These solid and outline images from Strawberry Patch made this cute card a breeze. I used the coordinating dies to cut out just the flowers and adhered them with foam tape. A little glitter to the centers is the finishing touch.

Of course the Strawberry Patch Sentiments set had just the sentiment I needed to finish it.

So at this point, I am about 5 weeks behind on Project Life. I've been taking pictures still (not quite as intently as I had been) but I am determined to get caught back up. I am not sure how I want to approach it, if I want to start with this past week and work backwards, or if I just want to set aside a whole day and just hammer it out. I am frustrated - not with the project or the process, but with myself. If anyone has the secret to being able to do it all, would you mind sharing??

Hope you have a great Monday!

Sending Prayers

Well hello there. I hope you had a good weekend. Things are winding down here as we start switching gears into another week.

Here is a little card that I made for this week's Tuesday Trigger over at the Moxie Fab World Blog.

I used the Beautiful Butterflies set, because they really are some beautiful butterflies.

I love the light and airy look to the butterflies in the inspiration picture, very ethereal. So I pulled out my Watercolor Wonder crayons - these babies haven't seen the light of day for a good year. I used the Cameo Coral and Ruby Red crayons and colored the butterflies right onto the stamp, then spritzed it with a combination of water and Perfect Gold Perfect Pearls before stamping it onto my Oatmeal cardstock. What fun! I was glad I played along purely for using supplies that I haven't used in ages.

Before stamping my sentiment, I mixed a little water with some of the Perfect Pearls and then flicked it onto my card. It just adds some subtle gold flecks, but works well with the fibers in the cardstock and the bit of shimmer to the butterflies.

I thought this would be a nice card to send to Jinny to pass along to Molly.

Thanks for peeking in tonight, I hope your week starts off great!

Sweet Day

I'm not quite sure what rock I've been living under, I don't know why I haven't ever played along with the CR84FN Color Challenge before! I love color challenges.

The combo for this week has a soft vintage feel.

Still itching to use the Strawberry Patch set, and thought it would be fun to try it out in these softer colors.

I started by stamping the large strawberry cluster in Crumb Cake ink. The strawberries and flower centers were stamped in Pink Pirouette, and the leaves in Crumb Cake. To make the solid leaves a little lighter than the outline, I stamped them off on scrap paper before stamping them on my project. A strip of cardstock that had been stamped with the medium gingham from Gingham & Co. was added to the bottom.

I added a sentiment stamped onto the medium banner from the Banner Trio Die. These little cuties are kind of addictive. Finished it off with a snippet of lace and a button.

Really cute! I love how versatile this set is, this card looks so different from the one I shared yesterday.

I had fun playing along with the CR84FN color challenge for this week and look forward to the new one tomorrow! Hope your day is great!

Berry Glad

Really, who can get tired of punny little sentiments using the word 'berry'? No, not me.

Strawberry Patch arrived at my house yesterday and I wasted no time. There is something about strawberries that I just love. They remind me of my Mom and my childhood. I'm trying to remember what we had at home that makes me think of those things - I remember a scented strawberry pin cushion. What else was it, Mom? Was there a purse or something? - no it was a leather keychain, wasn't it?

I started by stamping the images on a quarter sheet of cardstock to make some patterned paper (everything looks better as an Instagram).  I set it up on my desk, looked at it and loved it for a while, then cut a strip of this paper for my card.  There is more left, so you will see it again on something else soon.

Pure sweetness. This is one of my favorite card sketches, the vertical strips are always so fun for combining patterns.

I stitched my strips of paper together and adhered them to a Winter Wisteria card base. The sentiment was put together using the Strawberry Patch Sentiments set. The die-cut frame is the new Label Layers 4 die from Wplus9.

I love it, it makes me so happy.  I can't wait to use this set more - I think it is perfect in every way.  It will be great for summer birthdays and will definitely be making an appearance for Mother's Day!

I hope you have a fantastic day, the weekend is almost here!

Birthday Butterflies

Happy Friday to you!

I love the prospect of a lovely weekend. Getting up without an alarm makes me happy.

Here is a birthday card I'd like to share. I used the colors from this week's Play Date Cafe Challenge to get me started.

Bright, bold butterflies!

I started by die cutting the butterflies from Oatmeal cardstock. I'm sorry, I love it so much and can't stop using it. Stamped them in Melon Mambo ink.

Then I stamped and embossed the label and sentiment onto Orange Zest cardstock and cut it out. I layered the label onto a little piece of doily and adhered it to my card base. The large butterflies were arranged and adhered, and I snipped of the bits that extended beyond the card base. I added a few little orange butterflies to fill in the spaces, stamping them off once on my scratch paper so they weren't quite so bright. Filled up the left side of the card with a simple row of stitching. That's my go-to-space-filler-upper now it seems. I like that it adds a little something without being overwhelming.

This is on its way to my husband's great Aunt, who is celebrating a birthday next week. I hope it makes her smile!

Big hugs to you, hope your weekend is wonderful!

Sweet Birthday Wishes

Hi there. I just wanted to pop in quick to share another birthday card that I made. I'm going to keep it short, I have this headache that just won't go away...

A friend of mine at work celebrated her birthday on Saturday. I made this card for her.

The background was stamped with the large chicken wire pattern from WMS. This is my first time using the flowers from Rosie Posie, and I do have to say I particularly love these roses.

I am so glad you stopped in. I'm heading to the couch to catch the rest of the hockey game with my hubs.

Sending You..

Hi there, friends! TGIF, right?

I am popping in to share the card I made for Bill for his birthday. I am stamping up a storm, but you'll have to wait until Sunday to see what I've been up to. Until then, something from the archives.

I know I'm not the only one that loves the postage themed items popping up in the papercrafting world. There is something I find so appealing about those office typed things.

For this card, I started with a card front that had been die cut using the Postage Stamps dies from Spellbinders. I bought these and this is the first time I've used them. I love the way they look, and think I need to a make a point to set them out on my desk. Let's see what I can whip up with them for the WMS release, shall we?

I combined images from the Die-namics First Class Friend set and the Postmarks set for this card. They seemed to play well together, and I just layered my images somewhat haphazardly.

Lots of fun! So kind of you to stop by today - I hope you'll be back on Sunday for the start of the release countdown for Waltzingmouse Stamps!

Have a great day!

Tenderness of Heart

Good morning!

I have been spending lots of time working on creations for the upcoming Waltzingmouse Release (previews start on Sunday!), but I thought I'd take a few minutes and play along with this week's Play Date Cafe Challenge.

I pulled up their website just as I started writing this, and I saw Denise January's card for this week's challenge and am now a little embarrassed! We'll just say great minds think alike!

Here is this week's color story:

And here is the card I created.

I was trying to think of stamp sets I have and have not yet used, and Lace Bouquet was one of those sets. I always love the yummy vintage look of black ink on cream cardstock, so I thought this would be a perfect opportunity to let this stamp shine. I added hot pink rhinestones as accents to some of the flowers.

I think this would be one of those cards that would really look nice as a set. Switching up the rhinestones or the sentiment would be a great way to make them unique, but these lace is so pretty I would love to make more.

Thank you for stopping in today - I hope your day is fantastic!

Play Date Cafe

How the heck did it get to be 9:00 already? I'm out of town for work, and I'm sick, and I feel like it has taken me 2 hours to write this post.

Ok, people, let's focus.

Here's my contribution to this week's Play Date Cafe Challenge.

The colors were soft and romantic this week. I used my newly acquired Iconic Images set to make my card (I had to track it down after I saw this card from Lynn).

I started by stamping the background with Text It. Then I stamped my vase and flowers. :) So pretty.

That's it for me - time for my NyQuil and jammies.

xoxo

Thank You

Thank you for all your well wishes for my Mom. It will be a slow recovery, but she's getting there.

It was another beautiful color combo this week at The Play Date Cafe. Here's Jax's lovely color story.

A bit stumped at first by those colors. I wanted them to really look well together, sometimes you can combine elements that just look good together, but these colors were all so bold I didn't want to overdo it. So I went simple and geometric with this one.

I kind of love those hexagons and kind of maybe bought the Rosie Posie set just for them. The flowers are growing on me, though.

I paired my design with a sentiment from Very Vintage Greetings. I like the loopy, delicate font with the bold geometric pattern. (Sometimes I laugh to myself when I say things like that - do I sound like I know what I'm talking about? Cause really, I'm just winging it ;)

Regardless, I needed simple, and this fit the bill perfectly. It was fun to make, and I think it would be great to pull a set together with all different colors and sentiments. I could get a lot of mileage out of these two sets together. There's still a little bit of time left, have you played along with this week's Play Date Cafe challenge? (You should, its fun!)

Thank you for stopping to say hi - I hope your day is going well!

Deck the Halls

Hello, hello my friends. I hope you don't think I'm neglecting you - I haven't been posting here as often as I like, but it is for good reason. I've been busy with some things that I can't share quite yet, but come January you'll see!

I am sneaking in just in time with a card for this week's Play Date Cafe Challenge. This week's color story is a soft combination of pinks and purple.

For some reason, I knew what I wanted to do as soon as I saw these colors. Here is my card.

I created this card using the Bells & Boughs set along with the coordinating dies from PTI. These images, along with these colors make me think of something a little retro, and I love it! I finished my card off with some flicks of Heirloom Gold Perfect Pearls. They are a richer gold than the Perfect Gold color and I think it really adds to the retro look.

You'll have to take my word for it that this is nice and shimmery! Thanks for stopping by today! Take care!

Hey Cupcake

Somehow I managed to squeeze some more cards out - I really don't know how that happened!

I really wanted to play along with this week's color challenge at the Play Date Cafe.

Here is this week's color story - isn't that a cool place to get inspiration for a challenge?

Here's my card, with what ended up looking like some pretty funky cupcakes! Hey, any cupcake is a good cupcake, right?

The wrappers, sprinkles, and sentiment were all embossed in silver. Yum!

Have a great day!

Splash of Color

Good morning, my dears! A rainy weekend has given way to a cold, sunny Monday morning! I love when the sky is super blue.

Before I share today's card, I want to give a quick shout out to my new friend Jacqueline! I met her on Saturday at Stamp Fanci, one of Pittsburgh's LSS, and she was a total sweetheart. I have to be honest and say that I have never been recognized in person from my blog before and didn't really know how to react! Yeah, I'm kind of a dork :)

I made this card for this week's color challenge at The Play Date Cafe. The challenge was to make a black and white card with only a splash of color. As you can see, my splash is dark purple.

My little embellishment is a combination of different dies, all layered together. That dark purple color (Concord Crush) is hard to photograph, huh?

My background was created using the Background Basics: Newsprint set from Papertrey Ink... one of the first PTI sets I've purchased in a while.

I'm a big fan these days of the sentiment-less card front. I could go back and add something in later if the occasion arose, but you could also just customize your inside. Now to make sure I send the card! I bet there's someone who could use some happy mail :)

So before I head out, I thought I'd share this with you.

I have been asked to be a Guest Designer for The Play Date Cafe! I'll be joining the crew for the challenge on June 9. I am so looking forward to it!

Thanks girlies, I hope you have a great day!
