Sinopse   

A coletânea de artigos "O Eneolítico e a Idade do Bronze da Região Circumpontica" é dedicada ao centenário do nascimento do notável arqueólogo russo, Doutor em Ciências Históricas e Professor Nikolai Yakovlevich Merpert. 

Merpert é uma figura fundamental na história dos estudos da Idade do Bronze na Europa Oriental e Sudeste Europeu e na Ásia Ocidental. A amplitude dos seus interesses académicos permite considerá-lo um dos últimos polímatas da arqueologia. 

Os artigos apresentados nesta coletânea abordam questões contemporâneas no estudo e interpretação de monumentos desde a Idade dos Metais Inicial, desde o Eneolítico até à Idade do Bronze Final, na Europa Oriental, no Cáucaso, nos Balcãs e no Médio Oriente. 

Estas zonas são observadas à luz da investigação científica de Merpert, que se mantém relevante e de grande interesse até aos dias de hoje. Esta publicação destina-se a arqueólogos, etnógrafos, historiadores de sociedades pré-históricas e a todos os interessados ​​em história antiga.

Este volume consiste principalmente numa coleção de contributos apresentados na conferência "Têxteis e Guerra na Europa e no Mediterrâneo, da Pré-história à Antiguidade Tardia", realizada em Bucareste em maio de 2023. 

O principal objetivo é explorar a oportunidade de estabelecer uma direção nova e bem definida de investigação académica: a pesquisa autonomamente concebida de itens têxteis usados ​​ou manipulados por grupos armados pré-históricos e antigos. O livro gira em torno de duas questões centrais. A primeira consiste em delinear as principais fontes e metodologias com potencial para fornecer resultados notáveis, começando por esboçar um mapa do estado atual da pesquisa na área.
