altered microscope slide holder

This month's alternative swap was an altered microscope slide holder. I have to say the card ones are much nicer that the fluoro pink plastic ones I use at work.
I wanted to work in colours other than vintage and love the look of the cobalt teal that I associate with Claudine Helmuth and Sally Jean. It was harder than I thought. Anyway, here is my offering.

The embellishments on the front are from the Harlequin Cuttlebug die set. I love the various shapes in this set. I used chip board and embossed it in the rough diamond folder before painting and highlighting it with Copper wax.

beeswax angel

There is a new challenge blog which is Australian called Inkurable stampers. Here is the link http://inkurablestampers.blogspot.com/
Their current challenge is to make art with wings. When I was playing with beeswax last week this was one of my creations.
One of the rules is you have to use a stamp. My stamp used is on the back layer. It is a text collage stamp from Julie Van Oosten. The wing is a black German Scrap wing available from Scraptivate and it is highlighted with Treasure gold wax.
Hope they like it.

I Love the smell of beeswax in the morning

The ATC challenge for this month on Paperarts is to use Beeswax.
I have always wanted to have a go so was grateful for the challenge. Here is my offering.
I stamped the background with a gothic text stamp from Green Pepper Press then brushed it with the melted wax. Then I layered on a napkin background.
Then stamped the "halo " image from the same plate onto tissue with India Ink, tore around the edges and added it. Then came the image and the German Scrap. Each element was dipped in melted wax and laid on.
After all the layering I used my clover quilting iron to meld the layers together and iron off the excess wax.
Once it was dry I added the title and the Fleur de lys with more wax and rubbed over the german scrap with treasure wax. The Fleur de Lys is a laser die cut from All about Scrapbooks. I coloured it with colorboc micamagic inkpad in red and a bit of treasure gold wax. The title was printed on plain copy paper and then layered onto the white chipboard with the napkin background over it and all waxed again.
I'm pretty happy with the result and love the smell.

Most recent swap

I am a member of a number of online groups and participate in swaps. This commits me to making art every month and pushes my abilities.
The group I mostly swap with is paperarts http://groups.yahoo.com/group/paperarts/ a mostly Australian group which I love.
Last month we did a tryptich swap with an architecture theme.
Here is my offering.
Don't know who will get it but I hope she likes it.
