If you've been thinking about buying Copics...now's the time
I just read a notice on the www.Oozak.com website - my favorite place to order copics and refills because they are so cheap! Well, it looks like other vendors have been complaining and Oozak is going to have to raise their prices or they will not be able to purchase Copics to sell to us. If you've thought about buying them, now's the time. The prices go up in early March. Hop on over to the site and check it out and get what you can before the increase.
Here's a copy of the message from the Oozak site.....
To our devoted COPIC customers -
We have upset the COPIC Gods.
On March 1st, the US importer of COPIC Markers is implementing a new MAP policy. Many of you may not know what a MAP policy is, let us explain. MAP stands for Minimum Advertised Price. Basically, it's a policy that helps 'Level the Playing Field' when it comes to different levels of product dealers. Some dealers are able to buy cheaper than other dealers due to the amount or volume of sales per year. Many times MAP policies have 'loopholes' in them. The loophole in the COPIC policy was that 'Add To Cart' for pricing wasn't against the rules. So, naturally, sites like us (oozak.com) and Crap Diem (I know it's spelled wrong ;) are going to use the loophole. Well, that loophole has been sealed and frankly the COPIC importer is very upset with sites like ours, they are cracking down hard on violations.
We are not against MAP. Many companies and brands have a MAP policy. They do it to protect their reputation and to help Brick & Mortar stores compete with the 'less overhead' internet dealer.
What does this mean to you? Well, first & foremost it means that the COPIC selling prices are going up. It means we can't do 'TOO LOW TO SHOW - ADD TO CART FOR PRICE' anymore. It means if we or anybody is caught breaking the rules we could lose our buying privileges. It means starting March 1st the prices for open stock COPIC markers will be: Originals/Sketch - $4.87ea, Ciao - $3.22ea, Wide/Refill ink - $5.62ea. * * It also means we have until March to sell as many COPIC markers as possible at ridiculous prices! * *
