Singing the blues

From my collection, a small sampling of blue beach glass and other found objects...notice the little ceramic animal head?

A closeup of the mosaic on the Kirkland Public Library:

I love the diffuse, shimmery effect of the actual water over the word:

Oddest mosaic ever

These are shots from a small mosaicked (is that a word???) courtyard in Fremont...right next to the big statue of Lenin.  The most random collection of flotsam and jetsam ended up captured in concrete.  Figures it would be in Fremont, the self-proclaimed Center of the Universe...as if a big black hole sucked in cosmic detritus...

Everything-but-the-kitchen-sink mosaic

This is a mosaic I made after taking a class with Laurie Mika who combines polymer clay tiles with found objects. I raided my treasure trove and anything that was blue or green was fair game to end up glued down.
.
.

I spy...a chopstick holder, costume jewelry, buttons, copper beads, fish, faces, a bottlecap, glass shards, watch parts, tiny bottle, words, a dragonfly...what did I miss?

Mosaic Madness

I made this tabletop at a Mosaic Madness art day last year; it sits on my front porch and makes a handy place to set down grocery bags when I'm trying to get into my house. I'm pretty sure this exotic bird is found only on Artgirl Island.
