A Tag of Flowers

Thanks for stopping in today and welcome to July.

Do you believe it,  July 1!!! WOW. I stopped in to Staples to pick up a new planner and it was chocked full of back to school stuff. That's when it hit me that school will be back in session before long. Seems like summer is just getting started.

Over at Craft-Dee BowZ their July challenge has started and this is my inspiration project. The challenge theme is always Anything Goes with a Handmade Bow. The challenge runs for the whole month, so you have plenty of time  to get a project made and submitted.

Here is a a tag I made to share with you and I added a triple loop bow to set this off. This tag will look great hanging on a gift , won't it!!

Here is a close-up of my bow. It's a triple loop bow and using the Craft-Dee BowZ makes making a bow, so easy!!!

Take a peek at the embossed dots that surround the stamped hollyhock sprig in the pic.below. You won't believe how I was able to get the embossed dots exactly where I wanted them to appear. No I didn't go thru the task of making a template out of chipboard, cutting out the image and then placing that template over the embossing folder. That is a great way to get the effect but that takes a lot of time then I would need to save it for a future use.

Here is how easy it is to get this look.
I slid my stamped oval into the embossing folder and used a rubber mallet to select just where those dots will appear and hit that area with the mallet. It was fun to smack that embossing folder with the mallet and I love the fact that you can pick and choose where the embossed design is to show up on the card stock. This way is quick and easy and the only thing to save is the rubber mallet.

I took that picture before I finished adding more hollyhock die cuts to finish the tag..

Check out that green vine ribbon. I have some plastic washer-like embellishments in my stash and I just slid them onto the ribbon and the leaves keep them from sliding off. What a fun and interesting look.

Before I leave you today, just a reminder, over at Craft-Dee BowZ the July theme for the designers' posts is Tags and Flowers, so, come by each Tuesday and you will be treated to wonderful tag creations. I sure hope you can join Craft-Dee BowZ blog for great inspiration throughout the month.

For a Grandmother's Shower

Hi Everyone,
Well I have been a little busy.  Last Thursday, Friday and Saturday, I was off giving classes. Sunday, I put all the supplies away and then I got started on making this cute little "brag" book for my best friend, Linda.

I was invited to a grandmother's shower for her, yesterday at a friends home. I don't know about you, but I'd never heard of  a grandmother's shower before. It's a shower for the grandmother, giving her baby gifts that she keeps at her home for when the baby comes to her house to visit. How cool is that.

Well I am not a mom, don't have grand kids nor do I have children, and  here I am off to shop for gifts for the shower. Wrong thing for me to do. LOL.  I bought a loads of things!! LOL. I bought things that were on the mother's registry and I figured Linda could use them at her house as well. Linda thought I bought out the store. LOL

Since this is Linda's first grandchild,  I wanted to make her a little "brag book". So I put together a cute little book that she can write notes in and add pic's. I think this turned out so cute.

Six pages (pockets) and 2  tags to each pocket that open up to allow room for pic's and places to jot down things to remember, etc. I used stickers to adorn the fronts of each pocket. Found some great baby themed patterned card stock paper from Echo Park Paper Co.It's a 6"X 6" paper pad and its called Bundle of Joy.
It is dar-ling!!! The baby is due the first week in June and he is going to be named Jackson. So, I used blues, greens and yellows. I also used lots of ribbon even though the baby is a boy. LOL

Well, I sure hope you enjoyed this darling little tag book I put together.

Tomorrow is the last Saturday of the month and that means I will be at Stamping Buddies for the monthly make and take. I took the samples over to the store Monday, so I will have to take some pic's tomorrow at the store and share with you later.

Have a great weekend and I will be back soon.

Monthly Club Meeting

Hi Everyone,
Christmas is roaring in ever so much closer and, whew, I am just not ready. I need to purchase a few more gifts and wrap.Wrapping for me is the fun part. I love making bows and I have always loved the wrap part.

Tonight was the annual Christmas party for the stamping club I belong to. We went to dinner and had our annual tag exchange and we also swapped a Christmas card. I will show the card I made and received in my next post. I want to show these cute tags I received tonite. There are 9 of us in club, so we had to make 9 tags, same tags 9 times or nine different tags, it didn't matter. We received one tag from each attending person. One lady was playing Mrs. Claus so she was unable to attend and one of the ladies made 2 sets of tags to give. So I took pic's of the tags I received and the tag I made is in this group of pic's.

This next pic is a little bag of sorts that holds one of those little Hershey bite sized candy bars that sets off my sweet tooth. It is so cute I thought I'd show this off as well.

The group I am in are all talented stampers and paper artists. It's truly amazing what we all make each month. Usually we receive something from a member at the meeting (this is called the challenge, cause sometimes it is a challenge to use it)and the next meeting we have to bring in something we've made using the item(s) we received from at the previous month's meeting. We also each take a turn doing a tutorial of a technique or how to make something, like a wonky folded card, etc. It is so much fun and we all learn something new each month.

Well stop back Thursday for the card I made and swapped and the card I received.

Thanks for stopping in today (BTW, Santa in the signature below is backtracking LOL)

Holiday Cheer

Hi Everyone,
I've been working on holiday projects lately and I thought you might like to see the tag I just finished. I know, you are thinking.... Christmas??? Now??? Halloween isn't even here yet. Christmas will be here sooner than you think. It always sneaks on me.  And, if you are like me, I usually wait to the last minute to get my Christmas packages wrapped and ready to give.So here is a great idea for a tag to use on one of your gifts and I am making mine early this year and placing them with my Christmas wrapping so at least the tags will be waiting for me. I used the Just Imagine /Kreations holly punch 914, which is the perfect punch to go with the Sizzix leaves I used on this tag. Check out the bottom corners, I used insert C on the punch to get that corner punch look. The penguin and the sentiment are stamps from 2 new sets from Sparkle N Sprinkle. The Pengie is in set 438 and the sentiment is in set 439.

Products used:
Tag - Accucut die
Holly - Sizzix Die
Glitter - Sparkle N Sprinkle - Parisian Mist G1007, Fire Engine Red G1007
Stamps - Sparkle N Sprinkle: Penguin in the Playful Pengies set 438, Sentiment in Tis the Season set 439
Ribbon - May Arts
Paper- Green CS, Red CS, Designer Paper
Copic Markers- YR65, YR61, R29, C-1, C-5, 100
Punch -Just Imagine/Kreations - Punch 914

Well that is it for today. Stay tuned for more card creations
Have a great week,

This Past Weekend

Hi Stampers,
Hope you had a great weekend. My weekend was quite busy. Thursday morning I taught a class at Stampaway. I called the class An Embossing Journey into the Holidays and then Friday morning I helped set up the Sparkle N Sprinkle booth. Friday night there is always a preview party and I worked the Sparkle N Sprinkle booth. I also worked all day Saturday in the booth and then,  Saturday after the show closed, I helped to tear down the booth and pack it up. What a whirl win few days that was. I was busy and had a great time. I also had dinner with a few friends and 2 of them, I only see at the convention. By the way Stampaway is a stamping convention held every year in Sharonville, just north of Cincinnati, Ohio.Next year will be the 20th year for Stampaway so, you might want to come and join the fun.

The class I taught had 23 students and they loved the projects. Everyone had a great time and quite a few students let me know they loved the fact the projects were all different.

I thought you'd like to see the projects that were taught  for this class, so, here you are:

Trellis Card

This card used stamps from the Autumn Swirl set # 410

Side Step Card

This card used stamps from the Winter Swirl  Set 414

Snowman Card

This tag used stamps from the Merry Crows Set 385

Well now I have to get back to my regular schedule and get a few cards done for my posts that are due in a few days.So I will be back in a day or two with more fun creations. In the meantime, have a great start to your week and I will be seeing you soon,

Last minute gift accessories

Hi Everyone,
I know, as you  read this, you are probably finished buying all your gifts and getting them wrapped or maybe, just maybe, you still have things to finish. Well, as I wrote this post, all I had left to do was to make tags, so, I thought I'd share two things that I made to dress up a gift or a gift bag.

What do you get when you cross a brown, five petal flower, and a beige scalloped circle????

Would you believe a gingerbread man tag??? Isn't this cute and it really takes just a few minutes. After you cut out the shapes get your white pen and just add some faux stitches and zigzags on the hands and feet, add a face and some brads for buttons and your tag is done. Just punch a hole and add ribbon. Quick and easy.

OK here is the other thing I want to show you. I used packing stuff. This stuff is a very flexible foamy sheet. Not bubble wrap. (Don't you like my terms??) I have a really nice snowflake die from Accucut and using that die and that packing stuff, I cut cool snowflakes to attach to gift bags or presents or even to add as an ornament on your tree.

Since this packing stuff is white, I put a blue sheet of cardstock behind the snowflake so you could see it, otherwise it would get lost in the background. Well I have a few things to complete and I will be up late tonite getting then done before I go to bed. I want to have nothing to do tomorrow but reorganize my studio. And it sure needs it, it looks like a bomb hit it.(LOL)

My next post will probably be after Christmas, so, with that in mind, I want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and thank you for reading my blog.

Well that's it for now, thanks for stopping by, see you soon,
