To become eligible for a prize just:
Leave a comment at each designer's blog about her card and make a guess who you think has the Hidden Birthday Prizes

Here are the cards I designed for the blog hop.

Card #1

The panel behind the birds uses paintable wallpaper. I alcohol inked that square panel and then used a Versamark pen and applied the ink to those raised areas surrounding that panel, and applied Bronze Rose embossing powder and heat set. The chickadees were stamped in brown dye ink and colored with Copic markers and mounted over the wallpaper. I made those panels behind the dark brown cardstock using Color Wash on watercolor paper, and just mounted them on the front of the 6X6 card.

Card #2

Look at this scarecrow, out in the field in the moonlit night. That's a full moon rising in the background. I love this scarecrow, he has so much character doesn't he?? I masked off the moon, then I brayered the blue night sky and the green field onto the cardstock. Next I added Glisten embossing powder to the moon to set it off more.  I added the fence and the glistened pumpkins using dimensional foam. Lastly added that cute scarecrow and the sentiment and here is your 2nd card.

Happy 13th Birthday to you, Sparkle N Sprinkle

Hi Everyone
The month of October is going to be one large birthday celebration for Sparkle N Sprnkle. They are 13, a teenager. What fun. There will be contests and prizes all month long.So make sure you visit often.
I made a shutter card for my birthday card and used a set that is in my stash. I used autumn colors and boy those colors look great with this set even though this set might be looked on as a summer set.I bet you have stamps in your stash will look great in fall colors even though the set looks like it fits in a different season.

A shutter card is not difficult to make even though it appears to be so. The directions for a basic shutter card are on the Sparkle N Sprinkle website. So make sure to go out there and check out those directions. Well that is it for now, don't forget to check the Sparkle N Sprinkle blog daily this month for fun games and PRIZES!!!

Well that is it for now, thanks for stopping, see you soon,

Zentangle

Are you familiar with Zentangle? No??
Well click here to see more info on an interesting art form. I happen to really like it and I worked one up but used a stamp instead of drawing a freeform design. Sometimes zentangle reminds me of  Paula Best.
Here is the stamp and the image that I started from. I stamped using a permanent black ink, I happened to use India Ink.

Next I drew lines within the image to further define areas. After that, I used Micron and Spica pens in various colors to color the different areas of the butterfly. Here is the finished image.

And here is a close up of the finished Zentangle butterfly. There is no right or wrong to this art form. I love it and it is really kind of relaxing when making your designs. I guess that is where is the name comes from.

Try one and see what you get. These really look great in black and white so you don't need to use colors at all.

Have fun with this!!

That is it for now, thanks for stopping by, see you soon,

Glitter.... Glitter.... Everywhere

Hi Everyone
Thought I would make a few cards using glitter and a brass stencil. I have quite a few brass stencils from the days that dry embossing was done by hand. Back then we used a brass stencil, a stylus and a light box. The results were quite nice. Since I am one who rarely gets rid of my craft stuff, now I have found another use for those stencils.

I used sticky paper and attached my stencil over that. I allowed for a border beyond the stencil and then I cut the sticky paper.Next I carefully applied glitter around the edge to make the gold border. I also added gold glitter to the star at the end of Santa's hat. I happened to have a glitter that is a flesh color and used that to "color " in his face. Next, I used a bridal glitter to cover the white areas and then added the red for the hat. I pealed the brass template off the sticker paper and added the blue to the remaining sticky area, which makes the background. I mounted the finished glittered image to cardstock for stability. Next, I assembled the card. The star at the end of the hat was calling to me, so, I have a small star hand punch and used that to punch stars on the card front. I closed the card and using a glue pen, I traced those punched stars and added gold glitter. When the card is opened you will see the glittery star theme on the inside. This turned out so nice.

Here is another card that I made using a beautiful flower stencil.Perfect for this time of year. This technique is really quite easy to do and the results are stunning.

And now you have a use for those stencils that you have laying around.

The background on this card itself, was made using an embossing folder from the UK. I picked a few of the UK folders at the Heirloom show last weekend.

The hardest thing when doing these cards, was taking the picture without a glare. Hope you enjoyed these cards.

Well that is it for now, thanks for stopping by and see you soon,

Medallions ....... more

A few weeks ago I posted a few pictures of medallions that I had worked up. Well, I have been busy working on the other medallions that are available at Sparkle N Sprinkle. I think these are so beautiful. Just a little time and some beautiful colored cardstock and stamp a few times and trim and your done. These would look great as an ornament on a Christmas tree or on a gift instead of a bow. How about on a gift bag. You know these are really works of art. Think how thrilled your recipient will be just to receive this. This medallion stamp is in set 144.

Above the yellow medallion is in set 182, next, the blue medallion is in set 144 again and last that red medallion is in set 182. After the blog hop I will show you the ornaments that I made using these medallion stamps. They will look stunning on your tree.

Don't forget tomorrow is Day 1 of the Sparkle N Sprinkle Blog Hop so make sure you stop in and visit all the other bloggers participating as well. If you leave a comment you will be entered to win a stamp set of your choice.

Well that's it for now, thanks for stopping by, see you later,

Happy Mother's Day

Here is a card for all of you whether you are a mother or not.

The other day I posted watercolor cards and I wanted to do more, so I looked at a new set of flowers I received from Sparkle N Sprinkle and here is the result, using a water color technique. I stamped the image on watercolor paper, using a dye ink. Next, I used a watercolor brush and markers, and I watercolored the image. I actually did two different cards so, you get to choose your card for the day. Hope you have a great day.

These two cards used Art Impressions stamps. I have other stamps taht I want to do this technique with, so as soon as I get those done I will post those as well. Tomorrows post will be the cards from stamps from Sparkle N Sprinkle, so stop back and check them out.

A Birthday Card

Over the weekend I went looking for my muse, she has been gone for a while. I guess I found her, but she is still a little shy. I decided to use stamps that have been sitting around for a long time. This stamp is one by Susie Toronto. I love her stamps. I only have two and I really cherish them. I decided to make this into a Birthday card, you know, there is a birthday always going on somewhere, so, Happy Birthday to You, whoever you are.

I stamped the birthday girl in India ink and colored her using Permapaque pigment parkers. These markers are great to use stright from the marker or squiggle a little of the paint from the marker onto a piece of plastic and using a watercolor brush and a little water, you can use the paint as a watercolor.

When I decided to layer the paper behind her, I tried to stay with the colors I used in the stamped image. I tore the paper which reminds me of ripping open packages.

Tomorrow, have a card that is just about finished, for the upcoming Mothers Day celebration. Stop in tomorrow to see what I have made for you.

Well that is it for now, thanks for stopping by, see you soon,

Barbara
