For You

Hello everyone,

This week I will be at Stampaway teaching 3 classes, assisting with another and working the Craft-Dee BowZ booth Friday night and Saturday. I have a post that is scheduled for Tuesday, but after that things will be quiet here at Art and Soul for a few days.

In the meantime, I made this card and thought I'd share it with you all.

I used colored pencils to color the digi image and used gamsol to blend the colors. Pearls and rhinestones accent the flowers.

The ribbon I used is actually a piece of white Hug Snug seam binding and I used Copic markers to color it to match the pink and green colors I used in the card

    Off to Paris

    Hi Everyone,

Thanks for dropping in today. It's time for my ususal 1st Tuesday of the month post for Craft-Dee BowZ. This month the theme is pearls and lace, and I used the most gorgeous green pistachio colored  lace. I also recently received a Memory Box Eiffel Tower die, so it's "Off to Paris" for my project today.

Lately I have purchased a few stamp sets with a Parisian theme. If you are like me, you get one set, it has cool images, then weeks later you see another set with something else that peeks your interest , along the same theme of course and now you have 2 sets in that same theme, different stamps, same theme. Well needless to say I now own 3 Parisian themed stamp sets. LOL Maybe I need to take a trip there.

Let me share with you my project.

The stamps are all from 7 Gypsies/Hampton Arts and are from an older set that is probably no longer available. However the stamps are just perfect for my Parisian theme today. That Eiffel tower was cut using silver CS and I used Vintage Photo Distress Ink on the stamps.

The lace......... How fabulous is this lace. I have some more and will use again, hopefully soon. However I love it so much I just want to hoard it. I just want to look at it, and touch it. LOL I'm sure you know what I mean.

For this project I got out my needle and thread and gathered the lace right down the center. Next, I sewed a cream crocheted lace strip over the center. Then I wove the green seam binding ribbon thru various open areas in the crocheted lace. Next I made a 4 loop bow using the green seam binding and attached it to the end of the ribbon I wove thru the crocheted lace. And lastly I added a" ribbon candy" bow using cream seam binding ribbon to my fluffy bow. I felt I needed to break up all that green. Oh so yummy is that lace and seam binding.

The bow is made using the Craft-Dee BowZ tool. This is the tool that makes bow making quick and easy. Order yours today here.

    The Best Day Ever

    Hi Everyone,
Thanks for stopping by today. This month the design team at Craft-Dee Bow will be using digital images from The Graphics Fairy. You will definitely want to check out all the designers projects this month for their very creative cards and other ideas using images from The Graphics Fairy. They have so many cool images and I hope you check them out soon.

I am very excited to show you The Graphics Fairy digital image that I used for my card today.

This image shows a fairy looking out of the center of a flower. I thought it would look great to have the petals popping off the card.To get that effect, I printed the image 3 times. The first image is the bottom image and is just  flat and cut with an oval Spellbinders die. Next I fussy cut the 2nd image and using my Paper Blossom tool kit, I shaped the petals to have them lifting up. I attached that right on top of the original image, but I left the petals free so they would bend. For the 3rd image I cut away everything except the orange-ish petals, making sure to include the green base of the flower. I used the Blossom tool kit on these petals as well, giving them a bend also. Again I layered these petals over the same area on image #2, attaching just at the base of the flower.. This gives the look of the fairy looking out of a real flower.Let me show you a close up view.

I decided to use some greenery and twigs and I added pearls to look like little buds on the brown twigs and as accents with some rhinestones on the greenery.

My bow - was made using the Craft-Dee BowZ tool. Using a sheer ribbon, I made a triple loop bow and added a lacy butterfly over the center knot. The tool makes bow making so easy. If you have trouble making a bow, this tool is the answer to your prayers.

There is gorgeous lace as a border on the card and the vellum panel is embossed with a Spellbinders Floral folder.

That wide lace piece might be a little hard to see, it extends down under the greenery and its under the sentiment also. I layered another piece if crocheted lace on top of that wide lace piece.

Here is a full shot of my card for my May post for Craft-Dee BowZ. Hope you have a wonderful week. Stop in at the Craft-Dee BowZ blog next Tuesday to see Vicki's beautiful project using another image from The Graphics Fairy.

    Cards for Club

    Welcome back,
Last night was our monthly stamp club meeting. Each month at club we are to bring two cards, one is a predetermined theme and the other card is made from items that are supplied by members of club and we call that The Challenge..

Last month Carol gave us a basket image stamped on cream card stock and she also gave us a mask of the same stamped image. The mask was stamped on text weight white paper. We were asked to use the basket for The Challenge card. The theme for the November card was animal.

Let me share the challenge card first. I should have taken a picture of the stamped basket as we received it, but in my haste to get this card done, I forgot to do that.

Using a paper shaper, I shaped the basket image to give it depth and dimension. I knew how I wanted this basket to look on the card front, with flowers brimming out of the basket. I had flowers small enough that they were the perfect size. I cut the basket image out, added some scor-tape on the back and positioned the flowers so they appeared to be in the basket. I added some green twigs and added a small double looped bow on the side of the basket at the base of the handle. I added dimensional foam down back of the image in the center and adhered the basket to the card front.(I didn't use the supplied mask)

The small double looped bow was made using the smallest settings on my trusty bow maker from Craft-Dee BowZ. The perfect size for this basket image.

For my second card I used a giraffe for the animal themed card. The stamp is from The Rubber Cottage and is probably one of my all time favorites. It's so life like, isn't it. I added a braided ribbon to the side of the card.

Our stamping club is so much fun. We always have a wonderful time getting together each month. Next month we will go out to dinner to celebrate Christmas. We also will bring a card and 9 tags to swap. We will go home with a different card other than our own and the tag swap gives us 9 different tags, one from each of the gals in the club. Those tags will be great for the gifts that we will be giving to friends and family members this holiday season.

Today,  I finish the ornament project. I will be making a box for each of the ornaments. Then that project will be done, hallelujah !!  LOL

Thanks for stopping in today, see you soon

    Hi Everyone

It's time for the next CHF challenge. This challenge is being hosted by ubber talented Cindy. The theme she decided on is Pearls and Lace. I personally love pearls, I usually am always wearing a pearl.

With that theme in mind here is what I decided on:

I used the sweetest digi stamp 450R Fairy Dance
    She is so cute.
I used Copic Markers and non smear chalks to color the image and the background.
The swirls are cut from a Sizzix die and I added pearls from Fab Scraps.
    The bling  is from Recollections.
All of the die cuts are from Spellbinders.
The lace is from - unknown
    Background is embossed

    Lace

    Hi Everyone
Today I have another card for you, using Art Impressions stamps. I used some beautiful lace that I picked up Sunday in my shopping at the last antique show of the season.

I have a few stamps along this theme, kind of country-ish and I just really like the look they give. When I was coloring this image I wanted to add colors that would remind one of dusk. As I was finishing this up, I added a little gold color using a product called Inka Gold. Its at the bottom edge of the rick rack circle. This product has bee's wax in it and it goes on with a sponge and according to the label, its called a gloss paint. It's a nice product and I am going to be looking at other effects I might be able to get with this.

    Supplies used:
    Country Lamp Post -L1211
    Copic Markers - V04, C-5, E40, YG45, Y28, Y11, Y000, C-0
    Inka Gold - Gold
Inks: India Ink - Black, Distress Ink -Tea Dye, Fresco Chalk Dye-DaVinci Violet, Fresco Chalk Dye-Sistine Sky, Fresco Chalk Dye- Indigo Velvet
    Sponge daubers
Card stock/paper - Dark Blue CS, Blue Speckle CS, White CS, Designer Paper
    Old Lace from antique dealer

That is all for now. Hope you get some ideas using lace.

    Have a great day,
