Trick or Treat

Hello and thanks for stopping in today!!

Well, since halloween is right around the corner, I decided to make a card that celebrated that fun holiday.

I recently got a freebie from KaDoodle Bug Designs and he was calling out to me to use him on a card.(I guess it's a him, LOL)

Snce I had a few other things on my table, I decided to incorporate some of them on this card.

First, I used the Peeking Pumpkin Skunk digital image from KaDoodle Bug Designs as the main part of the card. Next I used some pumpkin shapes and a fence. The sentiment is from an old Unity halloween set and I used some circles and an oval die cut shapes as well.  BTW that background is one of the sheets I made using my Gel Plate. I make these and then hold on to them to use on cards from time to time.

Here is the finished card using all those things.

October Stamp Club Challenge Card

Hello crafty people

Last night was the monthly stamp club gathering and we had a great time as always.

Last month we were given a challenge piece that was a real challenge for me.
(I guess that's why its considered a challenge)
It is a lenticular lens scene - halloween themed. I know you are wondering what is a lenticular lens??? We we've all seen them and held them and looked at them with some awe, or at least I have. A lenticular lens will change if you move it back and forth. Check out the definition here

I took a few pics of the piece in hopes you can see the scene changes if I re-positioned my hand.

The ghosts are different and so is the pumpkin

OK anyway, this piece is large, it's a 6"X 6" piece
and if I trimmed it, some of the scenes would be cut off
So I decided to make a trick or treat bag
and this challenge piece would be the focal point
of a bag topper.

I used a white gift bag and covered the front with an orange print DP piece

Next I made my bag topper
I cut a scalloped rectangle and then layered a purple scalloped rectangle piece over that.
On the purple layer I added the lenticular piece.
Adding some bats and some scull & cross bones die cuts really finished it off.

I slid it onto the bag over one of the handles and WELLA.....
it's a trick ot treat bag

This bag could also be used as a larger spooky dried flower arrangement holder
or a great gift bag to hold a gift

I love making bag toppers.
They really dress up a plain bag.
I think it gives the bag its own personality.

SUPPLIES I USED ON MY PROJECT
Paper/Card Stock: Purple CS, Black CS, DP
Ink: Distress Ink - Old Paper (used on the skull & bones)
Dies Used: Sizzix Tim Holtz Mini Bat & Skull set (Movers & Shapers)  Spellbinders Grand Scalloped Rectangles

I am submitting my project in the following challenges:

Stop back Friday to see the themed card I made for the October meeting

Hope you got some inspiration from this project.

Thanks for stopping by today and I hope to see you again on Friday.

Trick or Treat

Well hello everyone.
I know, I know, I am a day late on this post. I realized this fact about 4 hours ago. So I got my butt in gear and made this Halloween card, took photos and posted to the Craft-Dee BowZ blog as well as my blog here.

This month the designers over at Craft-Dee BowZ  have a theme of Halloween. Well I don't have a lot of Halloween stamps in my stash so I just didn't have much to choose from.

But I do love this stamp set because it is a lot of  fun things to use
that are perfect for the fun Halloween time frame.

My bow was made with my Craft-Dee BowZ tool. This bow is made up of 3 single loop bows that are layered one on top of each other. There are 2 lime green bows and one orange bow.

Craft-Dee BowZ  has a monthly challenge and the October challenge is already under way. The theme is always "Anything Goes", so  you can enter anything.
Please join in the challenge this month.

    Boo To You

    Welcome back to my blog.

Do you believe it?! It's October 1. Oh my. Pretty soon it will be Christmas.
    Whoa WAIT!!
    Let's get thru Halloween first!!
    hehehe.

Since it's the first of the month, the new challenge at Craft-Dee BowZ begins now.
The challenge theme is always Anything Goes with a Handmade Bow
And since we are beginning the month of Halloween
I decided to make a Halloween card.

Let me show you what I designed

All of the images on my card are digital and are from
    Graphics Fairy

I added glitter to the web to make it look like a real web, shimmery.

    Check out my bow.
I started out making a single loop bow but my bow took a surprising twist.
    Let me show you.

Look at that bow - it has 3 loops.
Yes I used the Craft-Dee BowZ tool to make a single loop bow.
But a single loop bow just gives you 2 loops.
Let me explain how my 3 loop bow came to be.
    • I cut a ribbon piece a little longer than the card panel.
    • I folded the ribbon ends over the panel edge and taped the ends down on the backside of the panel.
    • Next I made my single loop bow and set it aside.
    • I cut a separate a piece of ribbon (an attacher) to use to attach the bow to the ribbon taped to the card panel.
    • I made that attacher piece too long but I still used it to attach the bow to the ribbon taped to the panel,
    • After attaching the bow I had a tail that was way too long on one side.
    • I made a loop using that long attacher piece. I taped it under the single loop bow. So now the bow looks like a 3 loop bow.
I added a charm to the bow center just to dress the bow up even more.

The challenge over at Craft-Dee BowZ is underway.
You have til 8:00 p.m. on Oct 31 to submit your project

The design team has some spook-tacular projects in store for you this month and wait til you check out the bows. They're all yummy!!!

Halloween wouldn't be Halloween without a pumpkin, bats and spiders.I added a stamped and embossed spider web and that bat and the spider, are both great die cuts. My pumpkin is also a die cut and I added the funny face to give him some personality.

Take a peek of the close-up of my multi-loop bow. To make this bow I actually made three separate multi-loop bows and stacked and tied them together at the center.

Here is a close-up of the bow that I attached to the tag, This bow is a triple loop bow using seam binding..

You too can make bows just like mine. How??  By using the Craft-Dee BowZ tool. The tool comes with a  directions sheet and for those who like visuals, there are great videos that Donna has put together that  will walk you thru making bows.
