With Heartfelt Sympathy

Welcome back to my blog.

And welcome to another month. Hmm, November, I am looking forward to turkey, are you?? It will be here before we know it.

And it's also time to welcome in a new challenge over at Love To Scrap. The challenge starts today (November 1)  and goes til December 15. Love To Scrap is a fun challenge blog and welcomes all types of scrapped projects - cards, scrapbook layouts, ATCs, mixed media, altered items, 3-D projects, etc. - using bits of new or leftover stuff.  And we all have leftover stuff don't we?? LOL

Well let me share my Design Team inspiration project with you.

I needed to make some sympathy cards and thought I'd share this one with you. I used some older stamps and some scrap CS and DP.   No coloring, so this was quick and easy to put together. I mentioned I used some old stamps, I seem to never get rid of stamps, I just keep adding to my stash.  I have a treasure trove, LOL.  Maybe I need to thin the herd so to speak. (Nah!!)

Products I used:

CS - White CS, Dark Blue CS, DP
Ink - Memento - Tuxedo Black
Stamps - Stampendous - Flowers; MSE Sympathy Innie & Outies

I am submitting my project in the following challenges:

Thanks for stopping in today and I will be back soon. Hope to see you then

Hello Spring

Hello Everyone

I think I'm on a flower roll. (LOL)
I made  this card for my club meeting that took place Tuesday evening.  We were given a 12X12 piece of DP and we were challenged to use some of it in a project.

So after looking at that DP for 3 weeks I finally decided what I wanted to do. I cut a strip off and added it on the left side of my 5X7 card base. Then I spied those round flowers on that strip and it reminded me of  a stamp from years ago that was a circle with a spiral within the circle. You cut along the spiral and then using a quilling tool turn the paper. Let the paper relax and there you have flowers. I used yellow CS and added some green ink to the edges of my flowers. The sentiment was also on that 12X12 paper.

Here is the 12X12 we were to use for the challenge project

I love the challenge project each month. We are given something to use for the next months challenge project and there are times that it really is a challenge, at least for me it is. LOL. We generally all make cards. Sometimes I have to look at the challenge stuff we are given for a while til the idea pops in my brain.

I am submitting my card in the following challenges:

Hope this card gives you ideas.

Thanks for stopping by. I will be back soon

Craft-Dee BowZ - Just For You

Hello and welcome to February,

I have 2 posts for you today, please scroll down for the Crafty Creations Challenge post.

Since it's the beginning of February, Craft-Dee BowZ has a new monthly challenge that has started,

Let me share my card with you.

This cute little rabbit is from A Day For Daisies,
the sponsor for the CDB challenge this month

When I was looking at the image for this card I went over to A Day For Daisies, looking at more of their images and I found flowers that looked like the flowers that this cute bunny is holding. Since they were a match (in my eyes) I went ahead and purchased that image. What a perfect match.

I added three of those flowers as a border and  it really added to the card design.

The bow is a two layered single loop bow. I love the look of that bow style. It takes up less space than a pouffy bow and it is the perfect bow style for this card.

The Craft-Dee BowZ tool is the perfect bow maker.

Order yours here.

LET ME SHARE WITH YOU THE SUPPLIES I USED ON MY PROJECT
Stamps: Digital - A Day For Daisies- Flowers For Mrs, Fairy Stems Rubber Stamp - Hero Arts (old)

Smile

Hi there
Glad you see you.

Today is the beginning of a new month
and that means it's time for a new challenge over at Craft-Dee BowZ.

I decided to use some flowers stamps from a new stamp set I recently picked up.
I wasn't sure how I was going to color everything and I finally decided to stamp on some Gelli Plate papers that I worked up and saved a while back.

Lets take a peek at the finished card

I had some green design papers so those were perfect for the leaves and the multi color papers were just what I wanted for the blooms. Then I decided to use more gelli plate papers for my layered panels bringing all the colors together.

Let me show you a closer pic of those flowers

I was really happy with the way the flowers turned out.

My bow is a 4 loop bow. I know - 4 loops, but I used Hug Snug, seam binding and since it is a thinner product a 4 loop bow is easy to make. The seam binding  started out as white  and I decided to dye it. Well I used Eggplant but it was too blue -ish so I rinsed it in the faucet. After patting it dry there was some blue left in the ribbon but I went ahead and sprayed it with Open Arms Amethyst and it matched that purple gelli plate panel. What a perfect mistake that turned out to be.
You know, the Crafty-Dee BowZ bow maker tool is what I use for all my bows. It is the best tool for all your bow making needs. Don't own one? Well click here to order one for yourself.

The designers have been busy with their inspiration projects and you can check them out here

    Happy Birthday

    Hello Everyone

Thanks for stopping in today. The Craft-Dee BowZ Design Team members have a theme for June - Shabby Chic. (Please remember, the challenge over at Craft-Dee BowZ for anyone that submits a project to the challenge is always ANYTHING GOES.)

Since the DT theme is shabby chic, I thought I'd use some corner die cuts and some shabby looking flowers that were in my stash. This month the designers received peach colored satin ribbon, sheer lace and sheer ribbon. The peach satin ribbon - I pleated this myself. It is really easy and it adds a very pretty look.I attached it over the top edge of the sheer lace.

For my bow - I made a triple loop stacked bow. And I added a pearl stick pin to the knot. The Craft-Dee BowZ tool is the perfect tool to make any type of bow, and it's super easy to make this bow using the tool.

The flowers - the two larger flowers are store bought - the two smaller flowers, I made myself. I added some green ferns for additional floral interest.

    The Gift of You

    Hi Everyone,

Thanks for stopping in today. Do you believe it!!! July 1 is here and the year is half over and now we are on our way to a lot of holidays before the end of the year. Speaking of holidays,  I have already bought a Christmas gift. (OK no groaning, please)

Since its the first of the month, it's time for the Craft-Dee BowZ  July challenge. As always, the theme is always Anything Goes with a Handmade Bow. I would love to see your submission over at Craft-Dee BowZ

Here is my card that I made for the CDB inspiration

The background paper I used is from one of my Gelli Plate sessions. I've saved lots of papers from playing with my Gelli Plate and put then in my stash, so here is a great use for one of them.

The flowers are all my handmade designs.

Here is a close-up of my triple loop bow.
That ribbon is a great match for that background paper I made.

I decided on inserting the sentiment on the inside of the card.

This card is for a dear friend whose birthday has just passed.

My Projects for Mema's Crafts for May

    May Theme - Anything Goes

    Hi Everyone,

It's the beginning of May and that means it time for Mema's Challenge for May. This month sponsor is  I Brake For Stamps.

I decided to use an umbrella image from I Brake for Stamps. And that umbrella made me think of April Showers and then there are the May Flowers so I used some of their darling flowers (Sweetheart Blossom). Then I spied a darling stamp set with birds perched on a sprig that is in bloom. So it all came together.

    Where Flowers Bloom

    Hello Everyone,
Gee it seems like it's been forever since I posted. I have been so busy. I traveled to Boston and was gone for 1 1/2 weeks visiting and taking classes. Then home for one day then gone for another 3 days, traveling to Tenn. to teach 3 classes. Whew, what a whirlwind of 2 weeks. Now that I am back I have planned more classes over at Simply Said Rubber Stamps.

I am getting ready to start putting together class kits for the 3 classes that I will be teaching at Stampaway in August. Below are my classes:

     Wed, Aug 5 @ 11:00 - 1:00 Chalkboard Cards
    Wed. Aug 5 @ 4:30 - 7:30  Multi Pocket Mini Album
     Friday Aug 7 @ 8:00 am  - 11:00 Two Folds Tag Book

Click here to go to the class section at Stampaway for more info and pics of class samples

OK Enough of what I have been doing class wise. Let me share with you a card that I just finished.

I tried out a relatively new product and I love this. It's called Color Burst and its from Ken Oliver. Talk about a great product.  I used the product on a watercolor panel then I cut the panel into 1/2" strips and put together this card alternating the color strips with plain white strips.

I added flowers to the center and attached a sentiment to the bottom. The largest flower is a store bought product however the other flowers are my handmade creations.

Hope you get a chance to try and buy Color Burst. Its a highly pigmented powder and it really gives you absolutely gorgeous and colorful results.

    Just Fluttering By

    Hi Everyone,
Thanks for stopping in today.  The Design Team's theme for Julyhas been tags with flowers, but I tweeked my project a tad and added the flowers to the card, not to the tag.

    Let me show you.why

I designed my card with a vellum pocket that is the perfect tag holder. That vellum pocket has flowers in one corner area.

The vellum pocket lets the tag and the stamped images show thru with a gentle softness.

The tag is perfect for a bookmark.

My Bow was made using the Craft-Dee BowZ tool. It makes bow making so easy!!!
Have you submitted a project to the challenge this month? You still have a few days to get one in. You never know, you could be our next winner.

    Beautiful

    Hi Everyone,
Hope your holiday weekend is nice. I know some are experiencing some bad weather, lots of rain and hurricane weather. Hopefully that will die off soon.

In the meantime, I would like to share a card with you today. I have no idea what this design is called and it's pretty easy to make and for the life of me, I have no clue where I got the dimensions from. I may have got it off of Pinterest, I will have to look there.

Anyhoo.......... here it is.  I like these kind of foldy, foldy cards.

The card stands up on it's own and is just a panel cut in parallel lines and scored and folded
Hope you can see that from the pictures. And wouldn't you know it, I stamped  the sentiment on crooked.Just my luck.

Here is another view (Yep that sentiment is crooked)

And finally a view with this card, flat.

This card is about 5.5" square, next I am going to try to make one that fits in a 5"X7" envie.
If I am successful I will post and give the dimensions.

    A Tag of Flowers

Thanks for stopping in today and welcome to July.

Do you believe it,  July 1!!! WOW. I stopped in to Staples to pick up a new planner and it was chocked full of back to school stuff. That's when it hit me that school will be back in session before long. Seems like summer is just getting started.

Over at Craft-Dee BowZ their July challenge has started and this is my inspiration project. The challenge theme is always Anything Goes with a Handmade Bow. The challenge runs for the whole month, so you have plenty of time  to get a project made and submitted.

Here is a a tag I made to share with you and I added a triple loop bow to set this off. This tag will look great hanging on a gift , won't it!!

Here is a close-up of my bow. It's a triple loop bow and using the Craft-Dee BowZ makes making a bow, so easy!!!

Take a peek at the embossed dots that surround the stamped hollyhock sprig in the pic.below. You won't believe how I was able to get the embossed dots exactly where I wanted them to appear. No I didn't go thru the task of making a template out of chipboard, cutting out the image and then placing that template over the embossing folder. That is a great way to get the effect but that takes a lot of time then I would need to save it for a future use.

Here is how easy it is to get this look.
I slid my stamped oval into the embossing folder and used a rubber mallet to select just where those dots will appear and hit that area with the mallet. It was fun to smack that embossing folder with the mallet and I love the fact that you can pick and choose where the embossed design is to show up on the card stock. This way is quick and easy and the only thing to save is the rubber mallet.

I took that picture before I finished adding more hollyhock die cuts to finish the tag..

Check out that green vine ribbon. I have some plastic washer-like embellishments in my stash and I just slid them onto the ribbon and the leaves keep them from sliding off. What a fun and interesting look.

Before I leave you today, just a reminder, over at Craft-Dee BowZ the July theme for the designers' posts is Tags and Flowers, so, come by each Tuesday and you will be treated to wonderful tag creations. I sure hope you can join Craft-Dee BowZ blog for great inspiration throughout the month.
