Tree of Gratitude

Hi Everyone,
Thanks for stopping in today. I made a card today that uses a new stamp set I received recently. I also used a die set that (Memory Box) I have had for a while. I just love these dies but I just wasn't sure how to use this set together.

There are 2 dies that make up this tree, one die is the  tree trunk/limbs and the other die is leaves and both work in conjunction with each other. I had looked at both dies for a few months and finally decided to get them when someone said Barb, you know you will have to place all the leaves by hand on the tree trunk/branches. Well I almost changed my mind but then I got a thought about how to use the leaves die in a different manner. So I decided to go for it.

                         Twiggy Tree

                          Leaf Canopy

I cut the leaves, and used the negative space instead of using those itty bitty leaves. Then I glued the trunk/branches on to the leaf canopy, fussy cut around the tree leaves, added  two sided tape to the back of the tree leaves and added glitter to the leaf openings. Well I loved the tree and how it came out, but wasn't sure what I wanted to do with the tree.So it sat for a while on my table,....... waiting.

Unity has a new monthly subscription set that I subscribe to, called Layers of Life (LOL) . The Tree of Gratitude set is one of the LOL stamp sets and it works perfect with my tree. Check it out.

Here is the Layers Of Life stamp set I used. And the images are a great compliment to my die cut tree.
TREE-OF-GRATIFUDE-LOL-SEPTEMBER-2013

To make the background panel:
I used DP as the panel on the card front and stamped the tree image directly on to it. I used the single leaf image with the typed words in the background and stamped it a few times onto the DP and sponged color in the leaf design. Next, using a Tim Holtz  Burlap layering stencil, I sponged more color and design which adds more visual interest. Last, I used a torn scrap of paper from a book page added ink to the edges and layered that on the DP. Now I had the background ready for my tree.

I used the sentiment from the stamp set but wanted it to appear differently than the way it was designed, so, I stamped it out on white CS and used a hand punch to punch the individual letters. I wanted the word to be vertical, instead of horizontal and lastly I glued those letters onto the panel.

Since my tree canopy was made with white CS, I sponged some red, orange and green inks into the canopy to soften it.

I attached the tree with dimensional foam over the DP panel.

Products used:
Burlap Layering Stencil - Tim Holtz (THS007)
Tree of Gratitude - Unity Stamps (Layers of Life)
Memory Box dies - Twiggy Tree 98143, Leaf Canopy 98142
Hand Punch
Glitters
Inks - Distress Ink - Shabby Shutters, Gathered Twig  Fresco Inks Cortez Sun, Bastille Brick, Golden Parchment
Sponge Dauber
CS/paper - Designer Paper (DP), White CS, Terra Cotta CS, Brown CS
Dimensional Foam
Scotch Quick-Dry Adhesive
Two Sided Tape

I am submitting my card in the following challenges:

Every Artist

Hi everyone and welcome back!!!And welcome to my new followers, too.

Recently I mentioned how orange is not one of my fav colors. LOL Well I guess I might have to eat my words. You'll see in a minute!! Now I guess that means I can wear those orange pants, but I am going to limit my wearing to Halloween. Otherwise I might be mistaken as an orange Popsicle. LOL

OK let me share a quick little project I made. And it has shades of ORANGE!!!, OH MY!!! imagine that. Well after all it's fall now!! LOL

I made a tag and it started out as white CS.  Next I stamped the verse and the image and then I sponged on all of the fall colors (.See, orange is in that tag.)  Next I cut a few leaves using vellum. I sponged inks made my bow and put it all together. I photographed it and was writing this post and I looked at those leaves and decided they needed something. Well you know what that means, time to add something to finish those leaves off. I got out some glitter and defined the veins and it was just what was needed. You be the judge.

Here is the same tag and the only thing I did was to glitter the veins on the leaves.

Those leaves look like leaves, now.

Here are the items I used:
inks: Memento- Cantaloupe, Desert Sand, New Sprout, Morocco, Olive Grove, Peanut Brittle, - Distressed Inks - Fired Brick
CS: White, Vellum
Spellbinders Dies: S4-158 Sunflower Set Two & S4-157 Sunflowers Set One (leaf from each set)
Stamps: Unity - Imagine It ( DD-706)
Sponge Dauber
Glue pen
Glitter - Sparkle N Sprinkle  Parisian Mist glitter - G1037
Ribbon ( from my stash)
Bow Making tool - Craft-Dee BowZ

Well thanks a lot for stopping in today.Have a great week!!

Doggone happy

Hi Everyone
Today I sat down and started working on my Sparkle N Sprinkle cards for the month and decided even though I wasn't able to participate in the blog hop last week, I would go ahead and make a card that celebrates Our Furry Friends. I used dog stamps from a set that I recently received. These are really so cute, I thought I'd share the project with you.

The set I worked from is Dog House, set 168.  BTW that set is on sale right now, so you might want to snag it at its lower price..

Stamp Set 168 - Dogs - Dog House

Since I have three cats, they seemed a little put out that I made this dog card but they'll get over it. LOL

I decided on a step card and it turned out so cute. I love it. Also, directions to make this cute step card are here. It's really easy to make a step card, so I hope you try it. Well that is all I have today , oh, BTW, there is one more thing before I go......................

A few months ago I mentioned I had some news I would be sharing later on in the summer. Well, it's later on and I thought I'd let you all know what the new venture is that I've been preparing for. I am very excited to announce that  I will be teaching locally and because of the new venture I've just added a new tab here on my blog, right above, the current post. The new tab is called My Class Schedule. When you click on that tab, it will take you to another page that shows a calendar with dates showing the classes I have scheduled and where I will be teaching. By clicking on a date that contains an entry, you will get a pop up window with a class description and other information. Also by scrolling on down, right under the calendar, you will see pic's of class samples. The calendar will always be located under the tab My Class Schedule on that new page.

So, for those of you who live in the Greater Cincinnati area, I hope that you can join me in some classes that you might be interested in taking. Please remember to call the store and arrange to reserve your spot.

I am really excited about my new venture and I hope some of you local ladies can join me in some of my classes.Oh if you are ever going to be in the area, hope you decide to sign up for a class if there is something that you like and if our schedules coincide. LOL

Well that is all I have today for you.See you soon,

Warmer Easter Wishes

Hi Everyone,
Welcome to Wednesday!!!  Have you been out getting the Easter candy?? Or maybe getting an Easter outfit?? I love all the soft pastels that are out at this time of the year.

I just got some new stamps from Art Impressions and since they are Easter themed, I will be showing these off in my next few Wednesday posts. Hope the cards inspire you and give you some great ideas.

This card is using a new set called Kate - set 4118. And this bunny is sooooo cute. the set even comes with a seperate little pinafore stamp as well. I stamped the rabbit on white cs and colored the rabbit with Copics. Next I stamped the little jacket part of the stamp on a small piece of designer paper and I stamped the dress part of the stamp on another designer paper. I trimmed the dress, jacket and the rabbit out and layered them all together. It was like playing with paper dolls. I remember how fun that was when I was a kid. Next, I added the matching bow in her hair, or should I say fur. Then I added the glitz. The background  I used is an embossing folder and I colored it with distress inks. Lastly I added a pastel yellow bow, punched a few corners and added the sentiment and the card is done.

Supplies used:
Kate set - 4118
Copic markers - E57, E71, R81
Cardstock/Paper - White CS, peachy pink cs, designer papers (3 different ones)
Embossing Folder - Sizzix
Spellbinders Die - Labels Sixteen  S4-301
Punch for corners
Inks - Versafine black, Distress inks scattered straw, victorian velvet
Ribbon

Tomorrow I will have 2 posts. I will have the card for next week's Art Impressions weekly challenge and I will have a post for the Sparkle N Sprinkle Blog Hop. Please stop back for both posts I would love to see you again.

The Wall and Flowers

Hi Everyone,
It's Wednesday and that means its time to showcase another card  using Art Impressions stamps.
I was looking at some of my handmade flowers and that's how this card came to be. I picked out the flowers, picked card stock colors that complimented the flowers and then I chose the wall/flowers stamp. The colors I used in the stamped image are colors similar to the colors I used in the handmade flowers.

I added glitter to the stamped image by using a glue pen, (that's the squiggles you see on the stamped image square) and I added glitter to the flowers as well. These flowers would look great with spring colors as well. I'm getting ready to make more flowers so I will be using spring colors for the upcoming season.

Supplies used:
Art Impressions Stamp - Wall/Flowers H1383
Paper/Card Stock - white cs, green cs, orange  cs, sherbet orange cs, brown cs, designer paper
Inks used - Distressed Ink Vintage Photo, India Ink Black
Sparkle N Sprinkle Glitter - Sparkling Snow, Orange Surprise, Copper Penny
Copic Markers - RV21, R37, R85, C-0, C-2, G82, YG41, YR04, YG45, E25, E43, E51

Cardinals and Snow

Hi Everyone,
I just picked up 3 new Northwoods stamps last week. I fell in love with these stamps because they have cardinals on them. I happen to love cardinals. I made this card using one of those stamps.

Supplies used:
Northwoods stamp - O8287
Martha Stewart Around the Page Punch - Double Arches
Copic Markers - R14, G29, C-2
Pearl Pen - Ice White
Distress Ink - Gathered Twigs
Sparkle N Sprinkle Glitter - Sparkling Snow G1003
Ribbon
Card stock - Green, Cardinal Red

These little guys are in my background almost every day. Maybe that is why I love cardinals so much. Of course they just happen to be the state bird for Ohio and Ky. and probably a few other states as well.

Have a great week and I will be back with cards using the other new Northwoods stamps I picked up, in a few days.
