Talking to your Best Friend

Welcome back

Today I am sharing a card using a darling image.
Each month The Outlawz hosts a "freebie"progressive challenge and this month the image is from Make It Crafty and that cutie is Wishful Asha

I got out some older dies that have been feeling neglected, lately. I also added a bit of glitter and some pearls to make this a girlie girlie card. But of course Asha is pretty girlie in her own right, don't ya think.( I never get good picks that show off glitter, Sorry that this one isn't any better at really showing off that glitter)

Here is a closer view of the sentiment and that scroll background die cut(Fancy Tags Three) I used.

Rainbows to Cupcakes

Hi Everyone,
Thanks for stopping in today. Today's card is made from image 2( or part of it) in the CDAC Progressive Freebie Challenges. This challenge runs April 1 - June 30. The image is courtesy of Back To Paper. Image 1 and the card I made can be viewed here

It's seems that lately I have been thinking, or maybe I should say seeing, outside the box. Lately, when I see an image I also see other ways to use the image, or part of it, in a different setting than it was intended for.

For instance, I received this image of a few clouds with a rainbow in between..

OK, yes I saw the obvious, however, I wondered if the larger cloud could be used for...............

 icing on a cupcake????

Yep!!

I used the cloud for the icing, colored it and added glitter. I hand drew the cupcake base then penciled in and scored the lines for the cupcake paper folds and colored it. I made sure to leave a little of the cake part showing and colored that area a brownish color. That candle, well, its a piece of card stock rolled into a very small tube. Next I added glue oozing down the front it and let it dry. Then I colored the dried glue with a white pen. Used bakers twine for the wick and added a little black to the tip to make it look as if the candle had been lit.

I found a panel that had been punched and was patiently waiting to be used. Added a back to the panel, used some DP and printed the sentiment out from my computer. The cupcake has a soft bend in it to give a 3-d effect. So I was able to go from a cloud sans the rainbow, to a cupcake in short order. Bet you can too. LOL.

Next time you see a stamp or a digital image look closely, you may see another way to use it other than the obvious.

Have a great day,

The Mushroom House

Hi Everyone,
Happy March 1st !!! Can you believe it. WOW does the time really fly! Today is the first of the month and that means its time for the next monthly challenge over at the Sparkle N Sprinkle Creative Challenges blog. This month the challenge is to use any color glitter on your project and upload it using the linky button.

The response has been great that besides the grand prize of a stamp set of your choice, there are now top 3 winners as well. The top 3 winners will receive a badge to display on their blog. Head on over to the Sparkle N Sprinkle Creative Challenges  blog to see who the winners are and to check out the March challenge theme.

Don't forget, there is a digital image that is given away each month to those who use a Sparkle N Sprinkle stamp or digital image that has been purchased. Here is the March free digi.

And here is the card I made using this cute digi

I used a few stencils to make my own background paper and I also added a chicken wire reversed stencil image from The Crafters Workshop in the white space of the Mushroom House. (I didn't like all that white space.) LOL This mushroom house would look so cute in your garden along with all the other mushrooms that probably grow there.

I hope to see your creation as an entry over at Sparkle N Sprinkle Creative Challenges this month.

I am entering this card in the following challenges:

Divas By Design - Anything Goes

Ruby's Rainbow - In the Garden

7 Kids College Fund  - Anything Goes

Simon Says Stamp - Anything Goes

Have a great weekend

Sparkle N Sprinkle Blog Hop Fabulous Folds

Hi Everyone,
If you arrived here by way of Marie's blog, then you are at the right place. But if not, and you want to be eligible for great prizes, then click here to start from the beginning.WOW, by now you are you getting inspired, are you having fun. Fabulous Folds!! What a great theme for our first blog hop for 2013.

Prizes will be awarded, so don't forget to leave comments on everyone's blog, 'cause that's how you become eligible for the prizes that are to be given away.  This is a 4 day blog hop so you'll have plenty of time to view all the projects and leave comments. The prizes are stamp sets, flocking, glitter embossing powders, etc.BTW, there are 3 designers who've been designated to have prizes "hidden" on their blogs, so comments are important and we LOVE getting comments. They really make our day.

I am so excited to show you my project for this hop. Since the theme is Fabulous Folds, my project definitely takes advantage of that theme. With folds in mind, I decided to make a Book Card. This project has a lot of folds, so it fits perfectly in with this theme. Accordion folds become the frame of the book  From a side view it looks like pages of a book don't you think This looks so difficult but is really quite easy.Once the frame is made everything else falls right into place. I have written up directions and  I've even added pictures to help guide you along. Click here to check out the directions.

This is such a fun project to do and the images that I used are digital images from Sparkle N Sprinkle. They have a great array of "digi's" and I love having the flexibility of changing the size etc of the image when you use a "digi". And digital images are really reasonably priced, for those of us on a tight budget.

Images I used:

CHF07 - Animals

Hi Everyone,
Thanks for stopping in today because it's time for the next Cornish Heritage Farms challenge. The theme is animals and I decided to use a digital bird image I have in my digital stash. I really love birds. I also really like trees and where do you see birds, but in trees.

As I looked at the bird I envisioned it sitting in a nest on a tree limb, so I drew the tree with an overhanging limb.

To make the tree I penciled in the sketch of the tree on the cardstock. Next, I cut the cardstock and embossed it and added a cream colored ink to bring out the embossed wood design. Next I used a die to cut the leaves. The nest, I made from a small branch punch and used about 25 pieces.

This beautiful bird is a great digital image of a robin.  Check out all the digital images, there are so many to choose from and you don't have to wait for the postman. The sentiment is in the Ornamental Beauty set

Want to play along????

If you would like to play along with us of course we would love to have you! AND - if you do, you could win a $10 Gift Certificate and a Winner's Badge to put on your Blog!

To play create a card using CHF images. You can use either CHF digi or rubber stamps to create a card or project.... anything you like as long as the stamps are Cornish Heritage Farms. (Yes, they can be older stamps.)
