Crafters Companion Challenge

Hi everyone,
Thought you'd like to see a card that I made for the challenge over at Crafter's Companion. I recently purchased some of their stamps and this fairy set ,which is so cute, was among the sets I bought. As soon as I got this stamp set I made this card but didn't know what I was going to do with it. Then I spied the challenge over at Crafters Companion. I added  the small yellow flowers to finish the card and decided this would work great for their challenge. Here is their criteria:
The challenge this month is to use your Crafter's Companion products and incorporate flowers into it. It's up to you how you want to include flowers. Your project can be a card, a layout, mini album, or altered item.

So here is my creation and what I used to create this card.
Stamp Set - Fairies Buttercup set from Crafter's Companion
Labels 10 - Spellbinders
Small shaped flowers - Lotus Punch from Just Imagine/Kreations
Ribbon - unknown (in my stash)
Markers - Copic
Cardstock-PopTones

Yellow makes me think of spring and I do believe its finally on its way. I hope I have inspired you today. That's it for now, hope you enjoy your day and thanks for stopping by,

Joan's Garden Challenge (JG0203)

Hi Everyone. Hope you are keeping warm and haven't received too much snow. Here in my area, it's just cold and the latest snow storm has gone south of us. I glad we didn't get any snow this time around. This weekend we are supposed to see temps in the mid 40's. Bring it on!!!!!

I thought I would enter a challenge from Joan's Gardens. The challenge (JG0203) requested:

1. Use Coral/pink and Green for your colors
2. A Birthday Sentiment
3. Vintage Paper
4. Handmade or Punch flower

Here is the creation I came up with.

I made my own flower and used what I considered vintage paper under the stamped image. I also thought a butterfly would look nice and that flower needed leaves so I used Spellbinders dies to produce those. The stamp is from Lost Coast Designs.

I love pink and green together, it's just so fresh looking, don't you think. These colors remind me of spring, and beautiful flowers and warm weather and open windows and................... well you know what I mean.

Well, I hope everyone is keeping warm and you know, spring will be here soon.
Thanks for stopping,

MMSC81

It's time for another Midnight Madness post. Here is the challenge for this week.

And here is my design based on the sketch.

Items used:
Cardstock - PopTones
Designer Paper - K & Company
Punch - Martha Stewart
Embossing Folder - Swirls
Flower & Swirl - ippity stamps (Now & Always set IPK-117)
Flower Center - Cuttlebug Quilled Chrysanthemum
Embellishment - Self Adhesive Rhinestones
Inks: Distress Ink- Peeled Paint; Fresco -Vatican Wine

This was fun to make and I decided to use some items that I haven't used in a while. I thought the Quilled Chrysanthemum  would be a great addition to the stamped flower center. Also I haven't used some of my embossing folders in a while so I thought the swirls went well with that swirly leaf stamp. Since I stamped the swirly leaf stamp on watercolor paper, after I cut the image out, I wet the paper and let the stamp lose a lot of its definition. I used Vatican Wine from Fresco on the flower. I just love all the Fresco inks. They give an old world flavor to the colors. I will stamp some things up later to show you the fabulous colors you get with these inks. They are a chalk finish dye ink, and I use them well over 50% of the time.

Well that is it for now. Thanks so much for stopping by, see you soon.

LIIU Challenge #6 - Recycle It

This month, the challenge on Let's Ink It Up is "Recycle It". It just so happens I had saw something the other day and had saved it. It is the holiday packaging for the 12 packs of Diet Coke. It is silvery and has a snowflake and swirls on the background, which is the style that I really love. I set it aside on my desk, so, when I read the challenge for Let's Ink It Up, I knew what recycled product I was going to use. So, without further ado, here is my design.
Products that I used:
Stamp: Sparkle N Sprinkle
Glitter: Sparkle N Sprinkle
Coloring: Copic Markers
Ink: India Ink Pad
Red Cardstock:Pop Tones
Snowflake: Spellbinders Die
Punch: Martha Stewart
Silver Background: Coca Cola 12 Pack Packaging

I guess I am a pack rat. (Thanks mom). I see stuff and know it can be used later, this time later became sooner. And I love the packaging for the Diet Coke12 packs for this holiday season. Doesn't it look great on this card. Even the cans are really cool. Check them out the next time you are at the store. Also, the next time you see packaging for some product, really look at it. Chances are, it can be used on a card or some other project. Wait til you see something I will be using, sometime soon, from a fragrance package.

Well thanks for stopping by, see you soon, and leave a comment. I read and appreciate each and every one.
Thanks,

Barbara

MMSC80 and Fall {ippity} Stamps

Here is the MMSC80 design for this week. My design this week is from a set from the latest fall line of {ippity} stamps. The fall {ippity} stamps are in and they are really nice. These stamps are very deeply etched and they are all foam mounted and are a line made by Unity stamps, so, you know they are quality.

Here is a card using the stamps from set IPK-140 Sing a New Song.

Click here to go to ippity do da, my online ippity store, to view the complete new Fall 2010 line and to place your order. The store is open 24/7 for your shopping convenience.

C4C55 (Crazy 4 Challanges)

Hi Stampers
Today's card celebrates the fall season. I love the two stamps that I used for this card. The scarecrow and the fence with the crow. What a great combination. The fence is a stamp from Ippity and the scarecrow is Sparkle N Sprinkle. The papers really compliment the card and show off the colors in the scarecrow. I didn't have red brads so I embossed gold ones with Red Apple embossing powder and now they really look great with the colors on the card. The card design is based on this weeks sketch shown at Crazy 4 Challenges blog. Well that is it for now, thanks for stopping by, see you soon,

The Challange

A week or so ago I was given an image and asked to make a card using it. I thought about it for a few days and came up with my idea. I wanted to incorporate a few different things into the end result.

First I decided to copy the image onto a transparancy sheet.  I placed the transparancy onto the image and using a Sharpie fine tip pen, I traced the image. Next, I flipped the transparancy over and traced over the image with a glue pen. I worked in small areas and applied glitter. I did the leaves first. I let it dry overnight. Next I went back and traced the center with the glue pen and added blue glitter. Again I let it dry overnight.
I brushed off the excess glitter and that was a chore from the beginning because the transparancy has static in it and the glitter will cling to every area of the transparancy.

I flipped the transparancy over, now the glitter is on the back and I can see the sharpie outline . The glitter shines thru also and makes for a striking result. I decided the background needed to be something other that a plain color or just white. So next I cut a piece of glossy CS the same size as the transparancy. I then got my alcohol inks out and applied green where the leaves were and a blue where the center flowers were. Next I used the gold mixitive  over the leaves and silver over the center flowers. Where there was still white, I used butterscotch and filled in the last of the white areas, adding gold over that area as well. I trimmed the pieces and added brads in the corners to hold the pieces together. Lastly I adhered it to a card (5" X 7") and added the ribbon & button.
Sometimes photos just do not show all the glitter on a card. This card turned out fabulous, too bad the pic doesn't really show the glitter in all its splendor.

Well that is it for now, thanks for stopping by, see you soon,
Barbara
