My Favorite Technique Blog Hop

Hi Everyone,

Welcome to the Sparkle N Sprinkle Favorite Techniques Blog Hop.

If you have arrived here from Cammy's blog then you are in the correct spot.If you haven't and you want to be eligible for prizes, then please start at the beginning at the Sparkle N Sprinkle blog to be eligible for some fabulous prizes.

This month our blog hop theme is my favorite technique. Boy, I had a hard time deciding what to show because there are so many techniques that I love to use. Since I my card was going to use an Easter theme that made my choice easy.

I decided to use one of my all time favorite techniques, making your own glitter paper. Here is why I love this technique: It's easy to make, I can use whatever color card stock I choose, I can match the color to my project,......oh and did I say it's an easy technique.

Let me show you how easy this technique really is. First gather up a few needed items

I cut my card stock into egg shapes first, but you can do this after the glitter paper is made if you prefer.

You will need a heat tool, I used a clip to hold the egg shapes as I heat set the powder, VersaMark, Shimmer Embossing Powder - EP 137, and a coffee filter to catch the excess EP.

Cover your card stock with VersaMark then cover with the Shimmer EP.

 Heat set.
Here are the eggs with one layer of Shimmer EP applied.

I applied a 2nd layer to add even more glitter to these eggs.

Here is the card that I designed using those glittery eggs I made using this technique.
Click here for directions to make this card.

List of products used:
Mini 8 Punch
Spellbinders Nested Egg Die S4-264
Designer paper (for the grass)
Fringe Scissors (for the grass)

Well I hope you give this technique a try, I really think you will like it, too. It is fast, easy and really the results are quite pretty.

Just a reminder to leave a comment to be eligible for the fabulous prizes that are to be awarded.  There are prizes "hidden" in some of the blogs, so the comment you leave just may be one of the winners.

Next on the blog hop agenda is the wonderfully creative Karin Martin, So hop on over to her blog to check out her awesome technique.

Here is the list of designers in case you get lost.

** Marie Berquist  ** Dawn Bennett ** Cammy Vietzke ** Barbara Bruder (that's me) **

**Karalee Ingram  ** Brenda Smalle **

Thanks for stopping in today so I could share this easy and fun technique with you.

Sparkle N Sprinkle Blog Hop Fabulous Folds

Hi Everyone,
If you arrived here by way of Marie's blog, then you are at the right place. But if not, and you want to be eligible for great prizes, then click here to start from the beginning.WOW, by now you are you getting inspired, are you having fun. Fabulous Folds!! What a great theme for our first blog hop for 2013.

Prizes will be awarded, so don't forget to leave comments on everyone's blog, 'cause that's how you become eligible for the prizes that are to be given away.  This is a 4 day blog hop so you'll have plenty of time to view all the projects and leave comments. The prizes are stamp sets, flocking, glitter embossing powders, etc.BTW, there are 3 designers who've been designated to have prizes "hidden" on their blogs, so comments are important and we LOVE getting comments. They really make our day.

I am so excited to show you my project for this hop. Since the theme is Fabulous Folds, my project definitely takes advantage of that theme. With folds in mind, I decided to make a Book Card. This project has a lot of folds, so it fits perfectly in with this theme. Accordion folds become the frame of the book  From a side view it looks like pages of a book don't you think This looks so difficult but is really quite easy.Once the frame is made everything else falls right into place. I have written up directions and  I've even added pictures to help guide you along. Click here to check out the directions.

Book Front

Inside front cover

Inside the book where the text would be

Close up side view of the pages

Open completely

Close up of those folds - inside

This is such a fun project to do and the images that I used are digital images from Sparkle N Sprinkle. They have a great array of "digi's" and I love having the flexibility of changing the size etc of the image when you use a "digi". And digital images are really reasonably priced, for those of us on a tight budget.

Images I used:

Thanks for joining us on our first blog hop for 2013.Before hopping on over to Shanna's blog, please leave a comment here on my blog to be eligible for a prize. Next up on the hop is the talented Shanna Shands hop over to see what she has in store for you.

In case you get lost here is a list in order of all the team members on today's hop.

** Jackie Smith ** Marie Berquist ** Barbara Bruder (you are here) ** Shanna Shands **

Have a great day and thanks for stopping in.

The Not So Macho Masculine Cards Blog Hop

Hi there! and welcome to the Sparkle N Sprinkle blog hop!  If you hopped here by way of DeeDee Maligno, then you're in the right spot. If you'd like to start from the beginning to become eligible for great prizes, then click here

There will be 2 winners for this blog hop:
  • The grand prize - 1 stamp set of your choice and 1 each of the designers donated products.
  • 2nd prize -  the stamp set of your choice.
The drawing for the prizes will be May 14 and the winners names will be posted to the Sparkle N Sprinkle blog.

To become eligible to win the prizes:
  • please leave a comment on each blog.
  • Return to the Sparkle N Sprinkle blog and leave a brief comment about which design(s) you most enjoyed and why.
Now, let me share with you my creations.

My first card was made using stamps from set 285  -  1900 Cars
1902 Curved Dash 1337-285G
Oldies but Goodies  1354-285B
Green Nugget Glitter - G1065
Spellbinders Label 1 - S4-161
COPIC Markers  - COPIC1A
Using ribbon is usually a "girlie" accent but if you add it as a woven element it becomes masculine.
The glitter is a nice accent that picks up the color of the car. Don't be afraid to add an accent of glitter to that masculine card.

My next card is a little more clean and simple.

On this card I used an embossing folder to get that background texture. Next, I used a dark brown leather-like paper. I used a corner punch from Just Imagine Crafts to add interest to the corners.
This card used stamps from Set 285 - 1900 Cars
1914 Chevy Royal Mall Roadster  - 1335-285E
Classic Birthday - 1353-285B
Spellbinders Label  - S4-309
Copic Markers - COPIC1A

My donation to the grand prize is:  Green Nugget Glitter.

I hope you've enjoyed viewing my cards and all the designers cards as much as we did in creating them.
Don't forget to scroll down and leave a comment here to become eligible for the prizes, then hop on over to Julie Warner's blog

HOW TO LEAVE A COMMENT: Are you new to blog hops? To find the comments section on each designer's blog, scroll down to the bottom of that day's post. The word COMMENTS possibly will be very tiny. Click on the tiny word COMMENTS. A box will pop up (or you may have to scroll down again). Write your comment (sign your name if leaving an anonymous comment). Perhaps one of those wonky SPAM preventer options will show up. Just type in the shown characters and click enter. That's all there is to it. You will become an old hand in no time at all. Designers covet sincere comments left on their blogs. They share their artwork, hoping to inspire others. Visitors who leave comments, in turn, encourage and inspire the designers. (If you absolutely cannot leave a comment for some reason, please e-mail SNS_Artist@tampabay.rr.com with your comment AND the name of the blog or designer you are commenting about).

SPARKLE N SPRINKLE'S NON-TRADITIONAL MOTHER'S DAY BLOG HOP

Hi and welcome to my blog.
I'd like to welcome you to the Sparkle N Sprinkle non-traditional Mother's Day Blog Hop, which began at the SparkleNSprinkle Home Blog.

Hopefully you have been enjoying the beautiful cards presented by my fellow Sparkle Team designers Jill, Joan and Anne. Our Mother's Day inspired hop is non-traditional because we're displaying cards which honor special women in our lives, whether they are Moms or not. We hope you will enjoy these feminine cards, and perhaps create something special for the dear women who regularly and meaningfully touch your life. Today, my card is made with Wilma in mind. Wilma is mother to a great friend of mine and she is the closest to being my mom. I lost my mom many years ago and still miss her every day. But Wilma has been a great substitute mom.

Great news!!! Set 265, which is the set I used, is in re-release and available right now at a discount. Clicking here will take you to the SparkleNSprinkle page for this stamp set.

Sparkle N Sprinkle & Really Reasonable Ribbon Blog Hop

Hi everyone and welcome to the February Blog Hop. We are so amazingly grateful to be pairing up with Really Reasonable Ribbon today for some great fun. If you have been following along, you should have hopped here from Anne’s blog. If you haven't, please please please pop over to the Really Reasonable Ribbon Blog and hop along. The Design Team members from Sparkle N Sprinkle and Really Reasonable Ribbon have created some amazing projects. You can see that these creations go hand in hand with each others products.

In addition to the Really Reasonable Ribbon blog candy, Sparkle N Sprinkle is giving a stamp set to one lucky hopper!  Leaving a message on every blog increases your chances of winning, because it's a mystery which of the artists' blogs has been chosen to house the prize! On Tuesday February 15, a name will be drawn from the comments on the mystery blog. Winner gets to choose a stamp set of their choice from SparkleNSprinkle.

This month everyone received the wonderful February Ribbon Kit from Really Reasonable Ribbon, filled with the perfect trims and ribbons for those cheery Springtime projects. Lots of great pastels to match up with some amazingly beautiful glitters, flocking, stamps and embossing powders from Sparkle N Sprinkle. If you love using great glitter and embossing powders, check them out. I absolutely LOVE their color choices and the stamps leave the perfect images.

I have 3 new card creations for you today.

My first card is is made up of stamps from set 417, Cocktails II, perfect for party invitations or scrapbooking that last year’s luau you had or whatever you might come up with. Tropical drinks remind me of great tropical colors and the ribbon in the February Ribbon Kit has a perfect shade to go with all the wonderful tropical colors I used on this card. I used Spellbinders Circle dies to showcase the appetizers and words and I used the Watercolor Pencils to get those soft iridescent colors.

On my next card, I used a stamp from the stamp set 413, Daddy’s Princess.

The Becca with Tulips stamp is so cute and to frame her, I used a new embossing folder that cuts and embosses. I added Buttercup Petal and Green Apple Embossing Powders in the debossed areas of that design. The trim that I used is the beautiful ribbon from the February Ribbon Kit. Copic markers were my choice for coloring the Becca stamp. Copics are so easy to color with and the range of colors to choose from is awesome.

The third card is a really unique card and it’s definitely able to be mailed. It is called a Fan Fold card and is so cute. The stamped images are again from set 413, Daddy’s Princess. The images are stamped and embossed with Black Detail EP and then colored with my favorite, Copic Markers. I used the Scor-Pal to score the cardstock. The card front utilizes a punch that combines flowers and leaves. I used Copic markers to color that and added a little Sparkling Snow Glitter as an accent. The oval shapes were made using Spellbinders Oval sets. And check out that ribbon, it's shear, it's feminine and has flowers on it too. Look for that ribbon in the February Ribbon Kit.  And it goes great with the card and the card colors. I am working on a video to show you how easy this Fan Fold card is to make, so check back for that.

All my cards use Tear-ific Tape for adhering and layering of cardstock. I also used the Versamark Pad in my embossing.

Make sure that you have left a comment here and at every stop along the way, you want to be eligible for the Blog Candy that will be awarded. Thank you so much for stopping by today and it has been a great time partnering up with Really Reasonable Ribbon for this fun Blog Hop. Your next stop is Aphra – just click here

Sparkle N Sprinkle's Mystical Treasures Blog Hop Day 3

We've shared ideas with you for 3 days using the Dani’s Garden Umbrella, Dani’s Garden Swing, Fairy Dust, Dream Fairy, and Garden Fairies stamp sets. Please visit the blogs listed below and leave a comment on each blog, then your name will be entered once for each blog you comment on for a daily drawing of your choice of any of the 5 stamp sets on cling cushion.

Today is the last day of the Sparkle N Sprinkle 3 day blog hop. I hope you have gotten inspired and seen some new ideas.

For today's card I used 2 stamps from Dani's Garden, set 393, Dani Reading and the sentiment "Thanks". I used a border punch to make the mint green piece down the center. Next I used a corner adorner punch to make the circular yellow piece. After I punched this out it looked like a fancy sign, so, I used a die to cut out a bracket to use as a sign holder. I cut it out of dark brown cardstock. Next, I used white ink, in a direct to paper technique, to tone down the dark brown paper.I adhered the bracket over the mint green cardstock and used twine in the holes and tied it to the "fancy sign". I stamped Dani Reading, using Black StazOn and colored her with markers and cut the image out. Next I positioned her in the middle of the circular "sign". I stamped the sentiment "Thanks" then cut an oval shape using a Spellbinders die. I colored the words with various soft colors and then mounted it under the yellow "sign". To add a finishing touch I used a glue pen and traced the swirl portion of the yellow sign and added Lemonade Glitter to the sign.

This is my "Thanks" card to you for participating in the Blog Hop. Please leave a comment on my blog to be eligible for the last prize then click on the names and hop along to the other blogs for more inspiration and more chances to win.

Sparkle N Sprinkle's Mystical Treasures Blog Hop Day 2

We will be sharing ideas with you for 3 days using the Dani’s Garden Umbrella, Dani’s Garden Swing, Fairy Dust, Dream Fairy, and Garden Fairies stamp sets. All you have to do is visit the blogs listed below and leave a comment on each blog, then your name will be entered once for each blog you comment on for a daily drawing of your choice of any of the 5 stamp sets on cling cushion.

Today I used two stamps from the Dream Fairy Set, set # 395. The Heart Fairy(3141-395M) and the sentiment, Missing You (3144-395AA). I used printed paper for the background and tore it to fit on the cardstock but still show a small frame area. Next I used another printed paper to compliment the first print and tore a rectangle shape and mounted it onto the square print. Using cardboard pieces, I tore a piece that fits on the front of the card and wrapped lace over the cardboard, added twine to the piece and mounted to the card front center. Used Spellbinders oval dies to cut a smaller oval out of printed cardstock and stamped the sentiment onto the oval. Cut out of cardboard a slightly larger scalloped oval from the Spellbinders Scalloped Ovals set  and mounted the sentiment onto the cardboard and then positioned on upper left of card.I stamped Heart Fairy onto white cardstock, colored her in, added Sparkling Snow Glitter(G1003) on to her wings and her dress and cut her out. Using the same printed cardstock used on the sentiment,  I cut a slightly larger Scalloped Oval and mounted the fairy to the scalloped oval. I placed the oval with fairy over the lace on the card.

Sparkle N Sprinkle's Mystical Treasures Blog Hop Day 1

Straight from the Garden Fairies Set (Set 396), the Garden Fairy is sitting in the Mystical Mushroom Garden that I designed for you. I stamped the Garden Fairy and the mushroom images. Next I colored the stamped images with markers and applied Versamark over the colored images using the Versamark marker and covered the images with clear embossing powder and heat set. Next using a brayer I applied the green grass and the sunset sky background colors to the cardstock. Lastly I used the Fairy Willow Tree stamp to make the forest.
