What a busy weekend

Hi everyone,
Well the weekend is just about over and it's been a busy one for me!!!

I have a few pictures to share with you.
First off, Friday and Saturday, I worked at the Creating Keepsakes Scrapbook Convention at the Duke Energy Convention Center  in downtown Cincinnati. I worked at the Stamplistic booth and demo'ed the new Hero Arts/Sizzix stamp and die sets and the Hero Arts/Sizzix stamp and embossing folder sets.  I also used the Metallic Cream Chalks by Pebbles to color the stamped images.I had never used these in the past (where  have I been), but let me tell you, I fell in love with those cream chalks. So easy to use and what beautiful colors in the palette. Wait til you see some of the cards I've made with this( new to me) product. The blendability of these cream chalks is great, and did I mention how pretty the end result is??  (LOL) Stamplistic also offered a  M&T  in the booth and that was manned by Mara, and you could make a fabulous medallion using Holly Berry stamps. Customers were given the option of making it into a pin. There was a steady stream of customers doing that. Jennifer, the owner of Stamplistic and my friend, was there to answer questions and ring up the purchases.

Here is where sat and demo'ed. I used the Vagabond and it is such a great tool. This was the first time I used it and found it so easy to use, and cut and embossed super. Customers were very fascinated with this little powerhouse of a tool.

Thought you'd like to see the display of the Medallions and those were a huge hit!!! Great examples of what you can do with those medallion stamps. These  also make fabulous Christmas ornaments.Lots of cutting but so worth the effort. And this picture really does not do these justice. They are 4-5 layers and so, so fabulous!!!

Here are 2 of the many cards that were on display.
Those 2 days were fun and I saw so many familiar faces. It was great to catch up with people I haven't seen for a long time.

OK, now its on to Sunday..........

I went to the last show of the season at the Burlington Antique Show. I usually always find something at this show. Today the weather was so warm and sunny. It was extremely windy though. That made for some booths having to run after stuff that was blowing off the tables. And the place was packed with vendors as well as customers.

I loved this topiary, should have got it but passed it by.

This was at the same booth. Too cool.

OK, I was on my way thru the last aisle and I saw this witch, on a bike. So, this became the last place I stopped. Everything in this booth was metal art. This witch is so great!!!

There were so many other pieces in this booth, it was late and they were packing up, but I just had to show you a few other pieces. Sorry the composition of the pics is so poor. I was tired and I was trying to get these before they got packed away.

This was the last show of the season. The next show will be in April 2012. That will be here in the blink of an eye, however, that means winter is quickly approaching. Arrrr........

Here are the treasures that I wound up toting home.Ribbon, wooden blocks, and some vintage papers. Be on the lookout for some of that ribbon appearing on some upcoming cards.

Hope you have a great week and I will see you soon,

June's Antique Show Goodies

Sunday June 20, was the 3rd Sunday of the month and that meant it was time to go to the Burlington Antique Show. Even though it was Father's Day, the show was crowded. I arrived at around 10:00 a.m. and got started making my way to all the booths I usually go to and of course looking along the way at others. The show is at the Fairgrounds in Boone County, Ky., and it takes 2+ hours to go thru the show. Now mind you, I don't stop at each booth, if I did I would be there 4-5 hours. It was very hot today, 90 + degrees, and very sunny. I saw a few things that I didn't get this time and if it's there next month, I will get the items. You know, if it's meant to be, it will be there next time.
Here are the cool items I picked up this time.

This print was tucked in the book that's pictured next. This appears to be a pic of the Ohio River before the area was settled. and before the Suspension Bridge was built.

I spied this book in a small booth that I stop at each time I go to the show. This book was marked $5.00 and I got it for $2.50, what a deal. Here is the front cover and a few peeks at some of the pages inside. This is a  book that was published in 1966 to celebrate the Centennial year of the Suspension Bridge that connects Cincinnati, Ohio and Covington, Ky. Great pics and what looks to be a great read with a lot of historical info and only 31 pages. This bridge was designed and built by John Roebling, who also was responsible for the Brooklyn Bridge.

And last, but definitely not least, here are two items I picked up that satisfy my love of altered art. Now what will I do with these??? Not sure yet. The fence I will probably use at some time in the future. The angel is actually made of a wire form with more wire wrapped around the form and a smaller fence is used for the wings. This really was calling my name and I picked up both of these for the large sum of $10.00. What a bargain.

I will be going back next month so, stop back to see what I pick up next month.

That's it for now, thanks for stopping by, see you soon,

Barbara

Antique Show Goodies

Hope you had a great Sunday. Today is the third Sunday of the month and about 10 miles from my home is an antique show that is held monthly, The Burlington Antique Show. This is the 29th year for the show. It runs from April thru October. Last month it rained, so, I didn't go. The show is outside so if there is rain it makes for a soggy show. I  have never gone in the rain so, I have no idea how many vendors set up, probably none. The show this month was well attended and I got there about 10:40a.m. This show is held at the Boone County Fair Grounds and covers a lot of acres. Went up and down all the aisles, looking for stuff. You know, the kind that when you see it, you'll know that's what you need, want or have to have. You know, the stuff that you have no idea what you are going to use it for, but you know you gotta have it.

Well I saw a few things that I knew I could use but didn't want to pay the price. But all in all I really hit pay dirt. At least, in my eyes, I did.

I love altered art and I was looking for some stuff that I can use in that venue. Then, I saw items that will work with cardmaking too, and I found a few things that I just had to have. (You know how that is, don't you???)

So, here is what I picked up:

I am not a Pepsi lover, actually I am a Diet Coke girl myself, but I fell in love with these little 4 1/2" high bottles. And what will do with these?? Clueless.

The watch faces will be used in some altered art ideas I have.
These are drawer pulls. and for $.50 each I just had to have these. Now these are probably going to be included on some block dolls that I am going to make, hopefully within the next week. As soon as I get those done, I will post those.

Look at this treasure trove!!!There are red buttons, and these definitely caught my eye.(These will be a great addition to a card.) And those marbles were colorful and they called my name. The gold item reminded me of an art stamp, 3 ladies faces overlapping, and it's a barrette. Each of those item piles were $.50 each. Also in this picture you are seeing 2 different swatches of lace. These are each about 3' X 3' and I only paid $1.00 for each of the 2 large lace swatches. Again, these will be great for cards and altered arts stuff.
Look at the watch faces and the drawer pulls.

I love this barrette and for $.50, what a bargain.

Here is a better look at the marbles and the buttons and the lace.
The rain held off this afternoon 'til after I left the antique show. It started around 2:00 p.m. and the show goes til 3:00 p.m. As I left, some of the vendors were starting to pack up, as they knew there was a great chance for rain.
There is another antique show in Lawrenceburg Ind. and it is held on the 1st Sunday of each month. Their show series started this month and their 1st show was wet, wet, wet. I didn't go, so I will have to see what June is going to be like. In the past I've liked the Burlington show better, but I haven't been to either show in a few years so Lawrenceburg may be the better of the two. Time will tell.

It's time to put my treasures away. I want to make card using the lace. So you may see a post with the lace used in some way, tomorrow.

I've been working on Medallion cards for Sparkle N Sprinkle for the May/June assignment and I am almost done already. As soon as they are done I will post, so you can see what these stamps can do for your cardmaking needs.

Well that is it for now, thanks for stopping by, see you soon,
Barbara
