Looking for trouble...

E porque por estes dias se celebrou o Dia Mundial da Arte... o nosso post de hoje referir-se-á a um artista português, que se tem vindo a tornar mundialmente conhecido...

Gradualmente, tem sido muito reconfortante verificar que as novas gerações de artistas, acharam nas suas expressões de arte, uma forma cada vez mais interventiva de chamar a atenção para muitos dos problemas mais relevantes, que vão ocorrendo pelo mundo, na actualidade.

Bordalo II é um desses artistas. Esta sua obra em exibição no Parque das Nações, que mostro na foto abaixo, chama-nos a atenção para dois problemas distintos: a poluição (todos os seus trabalhos são feitos com lixo recolhido em meio urbano), e a necessidade de proteger uma espécie em perigo de extinção. Neste caso, o lince ibérico.

By these days World Art Day was celebrated. So, our post of today, will refer to a Portuguese artist, who has become known worldwide...

Gradually, it has been very comforting to see that new generations of artists have found in their expressions of art, an increasingly intervening way of drawing attention to many of the most relevant problems that are occurring around the world.

Bordalo II is one of those artists. This work of him, on the above photo, and on display at the Nations Park, draws our attention to two distinct problems: pollution (all his works are done with collected garbage in urban areas), and the need to protect an endangered species. In this case, the Iberian lynx.

A floração, não é um fenómeno exclusivo da Primavera, embora nesta época do ano, exista uma maior profusão de cores e formas.

Já se sente a Primavera a chegar, e mais do que apenas uma estação do ano... a Primavera deverá ser... um estado de espírito...

Flowering is not a phenomenon confined to Spring, although at this time of the year, there is a greater profusion of colors and shapes.
We already feel that Spring is coming... and more than just another season of the year... Spring should be... a state of mind...

Hoje deixo por aqui, a imagem de um dos ex-líbris, da cidade de Lisboa. O Elevador de Santa Justa, o qual foi inaugurado em 1902.

Uma das estruturas mais visitadas na cidade de Lisboa, essencialmente por turistas estrangeiros, que procuram conhecer a fantástica vista sobre a cidade, de que se pode desfrutar, no seu piso superior.

Aqui fica a foto, e mais um grande pensamento, em poucas palavras... muito a propósito...

Today I leave here, the image of one's symbols of the city of Lisbon, the Santa Justa Lift, which was opened in 1902.

One of the most visited structures in Lisbon, mainly by foreign tourists, looking to see the fantastic view over the city, that one can enjoy on its top floor.

Almost Spring...

Costumam ser as tulipas que anunciam a despedida do Inverno.

A sua resistência a baixas temperaturas, e a beleza das suas flores precoces, de cores vivas, fazem delas uma das atracções da nova estação, que está mesmo por aí a chegar... A Primavera.

Estas, foram uma estreia, aqui no nosso jardim... e, aparentemente, não estranharam a nova morada.

Are usually the tulips which announce the farewell of Winter.

Its high resistance to low temperatures, and the beauty of its early flowers, brightly colored, makes them, one of the attractions of the new season, which is just about to come... Spring. 

These, were a première, here in our garden... and apparently they didn't found it strange the new address.

Made in Portugal... Where else?

Fotos do litoral. / Sea coast photos.

Um pequeno farol, construído pelo homem, parece bastante insignificante, ao lado do farol que ilumina o mundo, dia após dia, nesta foto, que por aqui deixo hoje.

Este, é apenas mais um pôr-do-sol, tão comum... mas sempre de inesquecível beleza, que é possível apreciar no meu canto preferido junto ao mar, próximo do ponto mais ocidental da costa portuguesa... que é a Ericeira.

 

Das altas falésias, que envolvem as suas praias de águas límpidas, e areia branca, é possível captar imagens como esta, com alguma frequência, no final da tarde.

Ericeira... onde o mar encontra o céu, e as suas vistas panorâmicas... nos enchem a alma.

Claro, que esta paisagem atlântica, que fica na memória e no coração de quem por lá passa, só poderia ser... Made in Portugal. Where else?

MADE IN PORTUGAL

 

A small lighthouse, built by the man, seams rather insignificant, next to the lighthouse that brightens the world, day after day, in this photo, which I leave here today.

This is just another sunset, so common... but always of unforgettable beauty, which is possible to appreciate on my favorite corner by the sea, near the most western point of the portuguese coast... that is Ericeira.

 

From the high cliffs that surround the beaches of clear waters, and white sand, it is possible to capture images like this one, with some frequency, in the late afternoon.

Ericeira... where the the sea meets the sky, and where its panoramic views... can fill our souls.

Of course, that this atlantic landscape, which stays on the heart and mind of whoever goes there, could only be... Made in Portugal. Where else?

Perguntam-me muitas vezes... Porque insistes em tirar fotografias contra o sol, se depois não ficam em condições?

E eu volto a insistir...

E volto a quebrar esta regra, em fotografia... vezes sem conta.

 

Gosto de luz. A luz tem uma qualidade...

A luz nunca se suja... nem mesmo quando é reflectida no chão.

 

Por aqui, fica hoje uma foto, a ilustrar esta minha "brilhante" teoria, e mais um grande pensamento, em poucas palavras... como nós gostamos, aqui deste lado.

Often I get asked... Why do you insist on taking photos, against the light, when you know that most of the photos will get ruined?

And I insist on it... again and again...

And I break this rule when I take pictures... again and again.

 

I love the light. Light has a quality.

The light never gets dirty, not even when it is reflected on the ground.

 

Today, I leave here a photo, to illustrate this "brilliant" theory, and another great thought, in a few words, above... as we like here, on this side.

 

Tesouros do mar / Treasures of sea

Quando a maré desce, as poças de maré, revelam pequenos tesouros de biodiversidade, com cores e formas surpreendentes...

Aqui fica uma foto de uma estrela do mar, tirada na Praia de São Sebastião, na Ericeira, acompanhada por mais um grande pensamento... em poucas palavras, tal como nós gostamos, aqui, no nosso blogue.

 

As estrelas do mar, são animais marinhos equinodermes, de simetria radial, estão cobertos de espinhos, que desempenham as funções de protecção e locomoção.

Alimentam-se essencialmente de moluscos, bivalves e gastrópodes.
Uma obra de arte... feita pela Natureza.

Tesouros do mar / Treasures of sea

When the tide goes down, the tidepools, reveal small treasures of biodiversity, with amazing colors and shapes...

Here it stays, a photo of a starfish, at St. Sebastian's beach, in Ericeira, followed by another great thought, in a few words, as we like, here, on our blog.

The starfish is a marine animal, belonging to the class of echinoderms. Having a radial symmetry, they are covered with thorns, which have the functions of protection and locomotion.

They mainly feed of molluscs, bivalves and gastropods.
A work of art... made by Nature.

A arte descodifica a realidade, possibilita a compreensão do mundo que nos rodeia, e consequentemente, facilita a aceitação de novas realidades ... ou promove o inconformismo, quando nos mostra novos caminhos, novas interpretações, novas abordagens, de alguma ideia, conceito,  ou tendência...
 

O mundo precisa de Arte... para ver melhor... para entender melhor... para se tornar melhor...
