Getting close ....
Now that my Dresden Plate quilt is getting so close to being finished ..... just one more border to do ..... I have to find something to keep myself occupied during the upcoming Olympics starting Feb. 12.
In this battered old trunk ....
.... are all my tops (with their backings). Which one should I hand quilt next? I have never had so many tops completed at any given time, so this will be difficult to decide. Oh, decisions, decisions ......

Almost back to normal
Jeepers ….. that says a mouthful! My back is almost healed and I have started sewing on my machine over the weekend. Yeah!!!
I did accomplish some hand work …. actually …. a lot of handwork over the past week. My hands just can’t stay idle for some reason. :o)
So, one pair of socks was finished and a new pair started.

And embroidery on these blocks was finished for this UFO.

It is amazing what Peg’s challenge started for me. I’ve been pulling out my UFO’s to review what needs to be done and I am determined to finish whatever I can this year. Mind you, a lot of my UFO’s are queen size quilts and they will just take forever to complete. But, remember …. a stitch a day counts!
I still have my 5th finish to complete (a flannel jacket) for the challenge; but my lost week will not help me to make my deadline.
Have a great day!

Doing the sock dance
I think the custom was started centuries ago in an effort to show off any older sibling and give them a chance to become married.
The sister thought the socks were adorable and she was a good sport to wear them for the remainder of the evening.
Have a great day

The Sock Dance
There is a French Canadian custom to the sock dance for weddings, but it was unknown to me and my family. The groom’s family is quite familiar with it.
The custom states that when a younger sibling gets married, the older unmarried siblings must do the sock dance by themselves and they must dance in their stocking feet. Could be an interesting night!
The groom has an older sister who is going to have the honour of wearing these and doing her thing. She did request that the socks match her dress (she will be a bridesmaid) and her dress is celadon green and comes to just below the knee. So, do you think they will match? :o)
The sister took belly dancing classes and we just had to attach pieces of the belt to the socks. There are bells sewn on throughout. The sister can make her own music just by walking/dancing around.
Have a great day!
Edited: Aug.10,2009. It seems there have been a number of searches for the French Canadian Sock Dance and this post did not have the correct custom information. This post has now been corrected.

First Pair of Socks
That pink variegated ball of wool is for a special pair of socks. I was asked to make a really tacky pair for an upcoming event. There is a story behind this and more to come later.
Christmas hanging done, a new pair of socks … what is next on the agenda for fall?
Many thanks to all that left comments about my "Snow Blossoms" quilt. You all agreed that the applique certainly makes the quilt now.
Have a great day!
