Bunnies and Blue Ball jars and May Day.

I finally got my anniversary collection of the ball blue jars!
They are pretty lovely and I will find so many uses for them.
I ordered mine from Ace Hardware and they shipped them to my local store for free.
I have 6 of them but I ran out of flowers for my table.

This cute domesticated bunny showed up in our yard last year.
She stayed off and on most of the summer.
Late in the fall we didn't see her anymore and we doubted she could make it through the winter.

But lo and behold she is back!!
Addison is totally smitten by her.
We named her Oreo which we thought was quite fitting.
She is starting to warm up to us again and hopefully we will be able to catch her and make her a nice fun bunny shelter.
Addison loves to take her carrots!
But first, she always has to take a bite herself.
I love her attitude and spunk!
I've babysat a lot this week and my Mom has had some more health issues.
I guess I know what my calling is.
Right now it's a 2 year old and a 77 year old and they are both very spunky!

My daughter Katie Rose, celebrated her 23rd birthday on May 1st.
Boy it's totally true about how quickly time goes by.
A little collage of her.
I think Addison resembles her a lot.
We celebrated with gifts and dinner and cake at our house.
I helped Addison make her Mommy some birthday cards.
And the weather has been totally rotten around here.
Some area's around us got 9 inches of snow the other day!
Just not right in May is it?
We were lucky and only got a sprinkle but the weather was nasty.
We are supposed to warm up and get some spring again.
This winter weary blogger can't wait.
Happy Weekend friends,
Cindy

New do for an old pie hutch

Every few months I like to give my very old pie hutch a new do!
And she was way overdo for a new do.

She is my first ever antique.
I bought her almost 30 years ago for only $100.
She is a bit battered and bruised but I still love her all the same.
Since I live in Applestone Cottage I decided to have a bit of an apple theme this go around.

Apples, rooster, some spring chicks, a picnic basket from GW. And of course a little white stoneware and my old coffee grinder to boot.

Sorry for the sun glare here.
I am just so happy to see any sun after such a dreary March.

We have had to stop filling the bird feeders around here.
Poor little red headed woodpecker looking for a bite to eat.
But the bears have come out of hibernation and they are very drawn to bird feeders this time of year.

And the snow is melting but ever so slowly I must say.
Yesterday Addison and Grandpa built a mini slushy snow girl.
Oh gosh I love her!
She is so sick of being cooped up and she just had a ball playing outside with Grandpa yesterday.
My Mom actually has daffodils coming up next to the melting snow.
Take care my friends and have a great week!
Cindy

Burlap and Red !

Hi friends.

I've been a bit stuck in the winter doldrums and oh so tired of my winter mantel look.  And yet a really springy look wouldn't fit yet with the piles of snow outside my window.
So I tried my hand at a burlap wreath.  I had been wanting to for such a long time and when I found this red/check ribbon I thought why not.
Well it's easy according to other's but not so much for me.  Burlap is a bit messy and it took me awhile to get the hang of the weaving and looping.
However I think I rather like it and the red adds a pop to my mantel.

I shopped the house and a little thrift store for more pops of red.
The only new to me things are the little bird house and the red planter.

And the cute little red clock!  Actually my hubby whipped this up so that he could show his Exploratory class one of the options they have.  This class is mainly made up of Freshmen students and they build more of a beginner project.  They only have 4 weeks so it needs to be done fairly quickly.
He is going to add something extra around the face of the clock too.

If you live at Applestone Cottage you need to have an apple box!
I bought this quite awhile ago when it was on 90% clearance.

A thrift store birdhouse and my little white birdie.
A red planter and a few other accessories for a little more pop.
I looked all over the Internet for tutorials on making a burlap wreath.  Let me say there is no shortage but some are easier to follow than others.
The one I like the best is here
The pictures and tutorial are pretty easy to follow along.
If your like me you will sit right by your computer screen with burlap and wreath in hand until you can get the hang of it.
So that's my burlap wreath tip...just give it a try, my total cost was about $11.50 for material, wreath and the big heavy ribbon.

Have a great week everyone and just so you know, I am currently mad at that little Chicago groundhog who said we would have an early spring.
I am joining a few fun blog parties.
