One-Layer Wednesday Challenge (OLW127) - Pinterest Inspiration

Wednesday, February 13, 2013

How many of you love Pinterest?  I don’t know about you, but I find myself “pinning” far more than anything else I do on Pinterest.  Please, tell me some of you feel the same?  So, this week I'm challenging you to use one of your own Pinterest boards as inspiration.  Let's put our Pinterest boards to good use!   Show us your inspiration.

For my inspiration, I choose my "Papertrey Love" board.  This is my inspiration card, and here is my card:

One trend I’ve seen lately is watercolor. I love watercolor! To me, it's subtle, even tranquil (I look for peace and quiet anywhere I can find it these days…lol).  More on that in another post.

Now, if you don't have a Pinterest account, what are you waiting for?  It's fun and it's free. It really is inspiring. I should warn you, it's also very time consuming!  No, I don't work for Pinterest, I promise!  I've provided a link to get started, if you're interested.  If you don't have/or don't want a Pinterest account, please don't let that stop you from playing along this week. Find your own inspiration from wherever you wish.

Finally, I have to show you this beautiful watercolor card I found, and it's creator is our very own, Karen Dunbrook!  Isn't this a beauty?

OLW 127 Guidelines:

1. A one-layer card is defined as a single layer of card stock folded in half. No other layers of card stock allowed!

2. Make a card inspired by one of your own Pinterest boards.  Please show us your inspiration and  remember to keep embellishments to a minimum!

3. Upload your card somewhere online and link it using the InLinkz button on the bottom of this post. If you link to your blog, please make sure the link goes to the individual post, not to your blog's home page.

4.HAVE FUN! That's really what it's all about.

One-Layer Wednesday (OLW105) Autumn

Wednesday, September 12, 2012

Here's a fun fact; In the United States, actually the entire northern hemisphere (we can't forget our Canadian friends), the first day of autumn is the day of the year in which the sun crosses the celestial equator moving south. This day is called the Autumnal Equinox, and this year it's September 22.

So, with autumn just around the corner, I thought it would be fun to see what you love about this time of year. For me, it’s pumpkins! I love pumpkin pie, pumpkin pancakes, pumpkin fudge, and pumpkin bread. Really, all things pumpkin.

I also enjoy the beautiful colors of the changing leaves.

Both cards are 3 inches square.  If you've followed my blog for long, you know I love this little size.  They're great for gift giving this time of year, but my favorite thing to do is tuck them in the girl's backpacks.  It's a fun little "love note" from mom, letting them know how special they are!  I like to have an assortment of these little cards on hand.  They always come in handy.

OLW105 Rules

1. A ONE-LAYER card is defined as a single layer of card stock folded in half. No other layers allowed!

2. Make a card that expresses what you love about autumn/fall.

3. Post your card somewhere online and link back to A Paperie Journey using the InLinkz button at the bottom of this post. Please make sure you link to the specific post on your blog rather than your blog's main page.

4. Have Fun!

One-Layer Wednesday (OLW104) Gratitude

Tuesday, September 11, 2012

This week Susan is hosting the OLW Challenge, and she has incorporated the theme into her "Gratitude Campaign".

When I first read about the Gratitude Campaign on Susan's blog last year, I remember thinking "what a wonderful idea"!  Expressing gratutude is something I need to do more often.

To read about the Gratitude Campaign from Susan herself, click here

After reading the sentiment on my card, you probably think I don't know the difference between Love and Gratitude.  I really do....  This  card is for a certain someone, and the handwritten message inside will express my gratitude. It's a fine line, I know ( I hope the OLW Patrol isn't watching)!

I plan to post another card later in the week, using a more appropriate gratitude sentiment.  This wonderful campaign of Susan's needs to be promoted.    Like she said " It's way more fun than politics and nicer too"!

I hope you'll think about sending a few cards out this year, to people in your life that you are grateful for.

I am also linking this card to Less is More.  This week their challenge is a One-Layer card with Foliage.  How perfect is that?

OLW101 Feeling Blue

Monday, August 20, 2012

This weeks One-Layer Wednesday Challenge is hosted by the amazing Heather Telford. The challenge this week is to feature the color blue on your card. I hope you'll have a chance to play along!

To create my card I used a solid background stamp from Stampers Anonymous and masked the bottom of the background stamp before I stamped the floral image (Just Believe, Stampin' Up).  The sentiment is from A Muse. The inks used are from Papertrey Ink (Spring Rain and blueberry Sky).

I think a set of these would be nice to have on hand.

Thanks for stopping by...
