Summer Days

Summer Days is the name of this table topper designed by Kathy Schmitz. I began working on this in May when I was down in Florida. A finish before summer is over.

I thought I would work on this one and have it done by Thanksgiving.

Applique Addicts

Remember those purple half square triangles I showed in the last post? This is what they were for. I wasn't going to join this Stitch Along from Primitive Gatherings but I had to have something to applique at my applique bee. Sure I could have dug out a UFO but that would not be fun. ;0)
The flowers and leaves are done in wool. I even found some purple wool thread in my collection of threads.
Lisa is having a 10 year anniversary stitch along. It is a mystery. I wasn't going to join in because I wasn't sure if I could keep up but there is no set date that she shares the next set of directions. The center block came out in May and the two borders came out this month. So if you want to join in you will not have any trouble catching up.
Want to see some show and tell? Not a whole lot of applique but I think you will enjoy the photos anyway.
Susan completed another one of her wool blocks from Primitive Gatherings.
I have shared some of these blocks Charlotte has been working on for a few months. She now has a finished top to hang in her sewing room.
Patti was our guild member last year. The guild made these autograph blocks for her.
One of the other quilting bees embroidered theses blocks to add to the center of the quilt. Aren't they cute?
Patti has been very busy with some fabulous finishes.

Carolyn was adding the binding to this very pretty quilt. I love the color combination.

Little bit of Ironing

Half square triangles are ironed. Next to make sure they are all trimmed and square. You are asking about the purple half square triangles? Well you will see!
Damien watched me as I ironed. Look at the face. I am sorry I am just going to be one of those gushing grandmas. I will try not to bombard you with photos of him to often.
I have been forgetting to show you what my friend, Karen Gray made for me.
Inside the neat little box was some burp clothes she made. Now Damien can burp in style.

Having Fun!

This past Sunday and Monday afternoons I wanted to work on something different than the rag quilt. Monday I did not watch Damien because his other grandma was in town. That gave me some time to work on some projects. I decided to pull out my Bertie's year BOM and do some catching up.
First I punched out the die cuts. Love that!

Place them on the backgrounds to iron them all.  I have decided to do some machine applique on these after I saw Teresa doing it. There will still be some hand embroidery though.
Then I cut and sewed all the half square triangles for each wall hanging. Now to iron and trim.
Check out my cantaloupe from the garden. These were all "volunteer" fruit. The vines came up from some seeds from the compost we put out in the garden beds. There are more out there too. Even though they came off the vine easily I am going to let the big ones sit to ripen a few more days.

Rag Quilts

Have you ever made a rag quilt before? I have made several. They are a great way to use up those pieces of batting you have been saving for something! I have got all the batting cut out for a new rag quilt for one of my daughter-in-laws. I really wanted to have it made by the first of August for her birthday but that ain't gonna happen!!! I made my son a rag quilt years ago and she wants one of her own. Now my goal is to have it done for Christmas.
I made these two rag quilts years ago. This one was my first and it has been washed so many times that you can almost see through the fabric it is so thin.

I also made this one which I used when we camped a lot. I love snuggling under one of these rag quilts in the winter time.

Random Stuff

So much has been going on. Not a whole lot of sewing but I am caught up on two BOMs. Here is my radio from Quiet Play. I still need to do some embroidery. There are supposed to be lines for the speaker and the radio dial.
Here all of the ones I have done so far. Only two more to go.
This months BOM from the book El's Kitchen by Eleanor Burns is done too.
Look at these lovely eggs I get from my local farmer's market.

A view of the garden which is growing pretty well. My rain tank is empty so I hope the weather man is right and we get some rain today or tomorrow. I am picking beans and zuchinni. Strawberries, blackberries, and blueberries are being picked every other day too. It won't be long before corn and melons are ready for us to eat too. Starting to see some little green tomatoes finally.

Watching this little guy during the work week keeps me busy too. Damien is three months old. He is rolling over now. He smiles when he sees me which melts my heart.
I go to his house 2 weeks at a time. Then my son brings him over to my house for the next two weeks. When I am at his house I have been keeping up with a Crochet Along on Spincushions.
Thanks for the advice you all shared about your refrigerators. Lowe's near by was having a big 4th of July sale. I bought a Samsung, had it delivered, and it wouldn't fit in the space. I took measurements but the problem was a wall was not plume. The guys took it back and I decided to buy an LG. I had to wait another week for it to get ordered and delivered to my town. It is actually the same size as my older refrigerator but taller so it has more cubit feet. It has the French doors which I love.

This week Damien will be here so maybe I can get some sewing done while he naps or plays. We shall see!

Thanks for stopping by,

Thirsty?

What is your favorite drink during these hot summer months? Iced Tea is mine.
This is a BOM from Quiet Play. I am almost finished with this months block which is the radio.
