Book Tour and Giveaway

Welcome to Day 4 of the Uncommonly Corduroy Book Tour
I have been anxiously awaiting for Stephanie's new book to be published. It is called Uncommonly Corduroy.  If you click on the the blue title link you will be able to see lots of  beautiful photos of Stephanie's creations.

For those of you who read my blog regularly you know that I am one of Stephanie's Supremes. I am one of several pattern testers for Stephanie. When she emailed me about writing a quilt book I was so excited for her. She asked if I would like to test a pattern for her. Of course I said yes. Here is a photo of Stephanie's original quilt called California Poppies.
"Images from Uncommonly Corduroy by Stephanie Dunphy, Martingale, 2014; used by permission. Photo by Brent Kane. All rights reserved."
Here is my version. As you can see from the photo this was taken during the spring last year. I call mine Carolina Lilies. I added some borders to my version because I wanted it to be a certain size. I did not use corduroy but I have seen some of the fun corduroy prints recently. I just have never thought about making quilts from corduroy.  I would definitely like to try sewing with it though.
My friend Laura did all this gorgeous machine quilting for me. You can see more of her designs on her blog.
I love this photo of the dots. The quilt has been washed so now you can really see the quilting here.

So now for the giveaway. If you would like a chance to win an Ebook of Uncommonly Corduroy just leave a comment letting me know if you think you will try making a quilt with corduroy. I will pick an winner at the end of the book tour.

Stephanie's book is available from Martingale or Amazon.  If you would like an autographed copy you can get it directly from Stephanie.

Here is a list of others who are participating in the book tour. Be sure to check out their creations. Each person on the stop will also be giving away an Ebook.

I can't imagine making a quilt with corduroy. Seems like you would have to be very careful with the cutting as I remember you could get a different look if you cut a piece a different direction say for a skirt.

I used corduroy to make clothes for my daughters when they were young. I used to find the finest wale that I could and the loveliest colors. I think making a quilt with it would be lovely.

Wow - I love this! Why? Because my very first quilts were from corduroy! Being the frugal mother of a young family, I took our old jeans, cut them into six-inch squares and made patchwork quilts. But I interspersed them with corduroy squares that I always got on sale. Would love to see the other corduroy possibilities!
