Pretty Ribbons!

Oh! these ribbons are so pretty. There is not a store in my town that sells such pretty and different ribbons. When Stephanie mentioned Nifty Thrifty Dry Goods on her blog I had to check out the website. As you can see I ordered some. The ribbons came packaged with 10 half yard cuts. I love the variety of styles.

When you have time you must go over to Lori's blog, Bee In My Bonnet. She is having a fantastic giveaway. She is going to give a lucky winner, maybe me, maybe you, some flour sack dishtowels, embroidery floss, and some patterns to embroider on the towels.

I'm Back!

Well, here I am back with some news about what has been going on around here which has not been a lot.

First, I have to show you what I won from Fibber Babble. She was having a giveaway and I won this apron that she made from dishtowels. Pretty clever. And she sent two other goodies too. Thanks Tracy. It is always fun to win.

Two more signature blocks came in the mail.
I added some strips to the newest Christmas Love block that I have finished stitching.
Now it is time to get back to work, slowly. I will be sure to listen to my body when it is saying slow down. It will be good to do what I love.

I would like to thank Anonymous for the warning about the bats. We thought it was a very strange thing but did not even consider rabies. We will be sure to stay away from bats acting odd.

Here's The Scoop

Last Thursday after several months of physical therapy I finally broke down after no change with the therapy and went to get a cortisone shot in my elbow. It is feeling 98% better. I think the pain that is still left is from the mean old needle. If you ever had a cortisone shot you know what I mean. OUCH! Anyway, I have decided to take this week off from blogging and handwork because when I do either one I feel a little twinge of pain in my elbow so this week I am going to completely rest it. Boring but I want to make sure it is completely well. My doctor still wants me to wear a wrist brace and the elbow brace when I am on the computer or stitching. So this is the last time I am going to mention my elbow on my blog anymore.
I will check my email so please feel free to leave a comment but I won't respond unless you have a question. Hopefully next week I can get back to what I like to do. Thanks again for all your good thoughts and prayers.
Before I close let me show you some things that have been going on with me.
I did this real quick embroidery on this towel. We are going to the Outer Banks in August and we are spending a night at my son's future in laws so I thought I would take them a little hospitality gift thanking them for letting us stay with them. They both love to garden so I thought I would get a pretty flower pot and add the towel and lots of other goodies for them both. We have already met them and they are some really sweet and down to earth people. You can get this pattern and their other free designs at Bird Brain Designs. They are doing one each month. The July one is really cute.

More signature blocks!
I just had to show you these bats they we found hanging at the base of our garage in the middle of the day. One was on the ground and my daughter picked it up and hung it on the wall with the others. It is a mystery to us why they were there. We haven't seen them again except maybe at night catching bugs which is a very good thing.
Cone flowers and lavender in my garden.
My first time growing zucchini. The flower looks like a starfish to me.
Look what I got in the mail the other day from Bunny Hill Designs. Some of the embroidery floss that is all the rage right now. I can't wait to try it out. It is the  new Cosmo floss from Japan. I also got some antique white rick rack.

Here is a pink  hibiscus that my son got for me on Mother's Day. It is still blooming.

Retro Roses

I have finally finished three blocks from Jenny's Shabby Roses BOM. I have decided to call mine Retro Roses just because of the fabrics and colors I am using for my blocks. I won this charm pack last year and the colors are really me. Since the applique parts are small I thoughts this would be perfect to use. Now I guess I need to go shopping to see if I can find yardage of the fabric to set the blocks. Who doesn't love shopping for fabric?.

Here are some of my newest signature blocks that have come in the mail. I have a few more I am waiting on to arrive before it will be time to make some more to exchange.
Here is a sneak peek of something I made for the Christmas in July swap. Just in case you are curious, those little black dots are beads. It won't be long before we will be sending these out to our partners. I am getting excited!

Guild Meeting

This past Monday night was our annual covered dish meeting. It is always a huge buffet of fantastic foods. Check out these deviled eggs all dressed up.
There are several quilting bees that meet at other times during the month. Our vice president asked the bees to decorate the tables with a spring theme. These photos are some of the decorations on the tables.

Here are some photos of  show and tell.

This quilt top was put together by guild members and presented to our president for a job well done this past year. The picture does not do it justice but the pink in the quilt is friendship star blocks.
Our president gave each person volunteering for a job in the guild a little pin cushion that is filled will emery sand. The tomato fabric is velvet. She got them off this Etsy site if your are interested in seeing the other things that are for sale.  www.LoveLaurie.etsy.com  I received one, which was a nice surprise, because I have done the job of quilt historian this past year which means I take all the pictures of show and tell and other things that go on in the guild.
It was a fun night of food and fellowship.

Sue from The Love That House Built will get the book written by Kristen Steiner, At Piece with Time. Congratulations!, Sue. Look for an email from me.
The above pictures are some things I have been working on. I was in the right place at the right time to get a picture of the hummingbird. He is fluffy because it was raining and he had just shaken his feathers.

A Bevy of Southern Albums

All these quilts that you see were made by members of this guild. A class was offered and as you can see it was very popular.

So guess who came to speak to the guild members this past Monday? The designer of this pattern, Kristen Steiner. She spoke about using life as your inspiration for making quilts. A fabric  journal of sorts. She shared all her lovely quilts with us too. A lot of you have seen this quilt on my blog before and have asked if there was a pattern. I can say now that Yes, there is a pattern. The book is now being published again and you can go to www.kristinsteiner.com to buy your copy. The next group of pictures are quilts that Kristen has designed and you can find patterns for these on her web site too.

I own this book that Kristin wrote along with Diane. The quilt in the above picture is the pattern that you can make from this book. There are also ten projects in the book that you can make too. I am going to give this book away on Monday morning to one lucky regular commenter. So if you would like to have a chance to win this book just leave a comment saying, "I would like the book." So check back on Monday to see who won.

I am also going to give this magazine away to the first person that leaves a comment saying that you want this magazine. Usually I tear out some patterns to save and put the rest in recycling but since I didn't tear anything out someone else can enjoy reading it.  (ps My Canadian friend Dorothy has won the magazine.)
Don't forget to check the buttons on my sidebar for the BOM. A lot of them are available now.
And check out the Rabbit Factory for the June block.
