Red Home & Fernhill

I made quite a bit of progress on Red Home by Natalie Bird. The birdhouse now has its surrounding blocks which form the inner border of this quilt. 

Ik heb veel werk verricht aan Red Home van Natalie bird. Het vogelhuisje is nu voorzien van de blokjes die de binnenrand van deze quilt vormen.

The Flower Basket is also done.
There is another flower basket with a heart-shaped flower.


Het mandje met bloem is ook klaar. Er is nog een mandje met een bloem in de vorm van een hartje.

And this is House on the Hill, also completed.

En dit is het huis op de heuvel, ook helemaal af.

















Jug of Flowers is still in progress. I still need to do three of those tiny leaves.

De kan met bloemen is nog niet klaar. Ik moet nog drie van die piepkleine blaadjes appliqueren.

The two hearts are ready to go. They still need their red and cream squares. 

De twee harten zijn ook klaar voor hun rand met rode en crème blokjes.

In the mean time I also completed the stitchery for Fernhill part five. When I took the picture, I realised I had forgotten to stitch the Dolphin Blue French knots. Each of these parts is dotted with them.

In de tussentijd heb ik ook de stitchery voor deel 5 van Fernhill klaar. Toen ik de foto nam, zag ik dat ik de Dolphin Blue Franse knoopjes vergeten was. Ze zitten op ieder blokje tot nu toe.

I love stitching the tiny bees.

Het stitchen van de bijtjes vind ik erg leuk! 

Part 6 of Fernhill arrived last week and it is a very surprising part, with lots of work that needs doing.
I won't post a picture of it, so as not to spoil the surprise for other Fernhill stitchers.

Deel 6 van Fernhill is vorige week aangekomen en ik vond het een heel verrassend deel. Er is veel werk te doen. 
Ik laat er geen foto van zien, om de verrassing voor andere Fernhill-fans niet te bederven.

A Pretty Red Robin

What do you do when your country is suffering from a heat wave over the weekend? You stay indoors, sit under a ceiling fan and stitch! And this is what I stitched, one of the blocks for Red Home, a pretty red robin.

The border of this project is made up of burgundy squares with cream and pink details, and the centre part of squares with a cream background with burgundy details. Here you see part of the centre part, the two squares on the right.

En wat doe je als je land gebukt gaat onder een hittegolf tijdens het weekend? Dan blijf je binnen, gaat onder een plafondventilator zitten en gaat handwerken! En dit is wat ik dit weekend gemaakt heb: een blokje voor Red Home met een schattig roodborstje erop. 

De rand van deze quilt is gemaakt van bordeaux vierkantjes met crème en roze details en het middenstuk van crème vierkantjes met bordeauxrode details. Rechts zie je de eerste twee blokjes voor het middenstuk.

Red Home Progress

It has been a while since I posted a message. I have been very busy with work, and also totally engrossed in my new project: Red Home by Natalie Bird. Very unlike me to have a focus project, but this is so much fun to stitch!

The cat with the redwork alphabet just had to be stitched first. There is another cat in this project surrounded by flowers. Another of my favourite blocks.

Het is een tijdje geleden dat ik een blogje heb geschreven. Ik heb het erg druk met werk en ben ook helemaal in beslag genomen door Red Home. Normaal gesproken heb ik geen hoofdproject waar ik aan werk, maar dit is zo leuk om aan te werken!

De kat met het rode alfabet moest natuurlijk eerst gemaakt worden. Er zit nog een kat in dit project, omringd door bloemen. Het is ook een van mijn favoriete blokken.

The bird house is not finished yet, because I wasn't sure about the colour which I chose for the bird, but now that I have seen it in this picture, it looks good.

Het vogelhuisje is nog niet klaar, omdat ik niet zo tevreden was over de kleur die ik had gekozen voor het vogeltje. Maar nu ik het in de foto zie, ziet het er goed uit.

This is the stitchery I'm working on at the moment. A lot of redwork with three small applique hearts. Just to give you an idea of size: this block measures 6,5 x 8,5 inch.

Dit is de stitchery waar ik op dit moment aan werk. Veel redwork met drie kleine hartjes die geappliqueerd worden. Om je een idee te geve van afmetingen: dit blokje meet 6,5 x 8,5 inch.

Does anyone know what this weed is called? It has tiny white flowers and bunches of green berries at the same time. It is growing in a container in our garden. The seed probably flew in, or was already in a bag of potting compost.
Never mind: my brother found out how it is called: Black nightshade. A poisonous plant.

Weet iemand hoe dit onkruid heet? Het heeft hele kleine witte bloemetjes en tegelijkertijd groeien er trosjes groene besjes aan. Het groeit in een bloempot in onze tuin en is waarschijnlijk aan komen waaien, of zat al in een zak potaarde.
Laat maar: mijn broer heeft al ontdekt hoe hij heet: zwarte nachtschade. Een giftige plant.

In Full Bloom Top & Red Home

The In Full Bloom quilt top is finally done! Entirely pieced and stitched by hand using the recommended threads and fabrics. The design is by Lynette Anderson.

Eindelijk is de In Full Bloom quilt top af! Helemaal met de hand in elkaar gezet en geborduurd, gebruik makend van de aanbevolen draadjes en stofjes. Het ontwerp is van Lynette Anderson. 

And of course this asked for a new start! The minute I saw the Red Home project by Natalie Bird I fell in love with it. Yesterday I went fabric shopping and this will be my new start.

En natuurlijk vroeg dit om een nieuw project! Zodra ik Red Home van Natalie Bird voor het eerst zag, was ik er verliefd op. Gisteren ben ik stofjes gaan uitzoeken bij mijn favoriete quiltwinkel Samsara in Lisse.

The burgundy polka dot is my outer border, the pink flowered fabric my narrow inner border.

De bordeaux rode stof met crème stippen is mijn buitenrand en de roze bloemen zijn de smalle binnenrand.

Elvis is a happy bunny once more. He has taken up residence in the scratching castle which used to be Minty's favorite snoozing place.

Elvis is een blije jongen. Hij heeft het krabkasteel ingenomen, dat altijd het favoriete slaapplekje van Minty was. 






Thank for all your kind and caring words after we lost our furry girl. We miss her dreadfully, but we take some consolation from the knowledge that she is no longer suffering.

Bedankt voor alle aardige berichtjes nadat we ons poezenmeisje hebben verloren. We missen haar vreselijk maar troosten ons met de gedachte dat ze niet meer hoeft te lijden.
