Commercial Break
Wednesday Advertising Day.
I am a big fan of Frank Tashlin's Van Boring (he never says a word) which can be found on Facebook and here if you follow the label. Many people don't know he did a comic strip before becoming an animation director (of Porky Pig and other funny shorts) and movie director after that (The Girl Can't Help It). So imagine my surprise when I ran across a late forties Ad by Tashlin, when he was already starting to leave the animation business.

Mishmash
Monday Cartoon Day.
When I read a review of the new biography of animator/filmmaker Frank Tashlin I came across a mention of his thorties silent gag strip Van Boring. I vaguely remember knowing about it, but I had never seen any samples, so I wet looking for them. Not only did I find plenty (after all, it had a two and a half year run), I also came pon a facebook page devoted to the work of Tashlin, that showed lot and lots of samples as well. Since this guy has mostly earl ones, I colected the last three weeks. I am curious why this facebook page hasn't gotten more attention, since Van Boring is not only a very funny strip, it is also very informative for anyone interested in animation. I am sort of hoping my blog attracts more of those kind of people and they will get the word out...
