clouds and reflections

last week i was down at ontario place waiting for the gates to open
bored, i started taking pictures of the clouds and their reflection in the water
what a difference a few minutes can make
as each day comes to us refreshed and anew,
so does my gratitude renew itself daily
the breaking of the sun over the horizon
is my grateful heart dawning upon a blessed world
terri guillemets
as we express our gratitude,
 we must never forget that
the highest appreciation is not to utter words,
 but to live by them
john fitzgerald kennedy
grace isn't a little prayer you chant before receiving a meal
it's a way to live

sunset at the farm

O it is pleasant, with a heart at ease, just after sunset, or by moonlight skies,
to make the shifting clouds be what you please.

We'd never know how high we are, till we are called to rise;
and then, if we are true to plan, our statures touch the sky
. ~Emily Dickinson

Dark clouds may hang on me sometimes, but I'll work it out...

I never get tired of the blue sky.
~Vincent van Gogh

The sky is that beautiful old parchment in which the sun
and the moon keep their diary.
 ~Alfred Kreymborg

Rest is not idleness, and to lie sometimes on the grass under the trees on a summer's day, listening to the murmur of water,
or watching the clouds float across the sky,
is by no means a waste of time
. ~John Lubbock

winter is in the air

of winter's lifeless world each tree
now seems a perfect part;
yet each one holds summer's secret
deep down within its heart.

lovely tree

"i think that i shall never see
a poem as lovely as a tree.
poems are made by fools like me,
but only God can make a tree."

beautiful and graceful,

varied and enchanting,

small but approachable,

butterflies lead you to the sunny side of life

and everyone deserves a little sunshine.

waiting.........

No matter how long the winter, spring is sure to follow
~Proverb
march is hope that spring is just ahead
no matter how crazy the weather----rain, then snow,
rain again, minus 9 one day plus 9 the next
no matter what march brings, i have hope

happy valentines day

A bell is no bell 'til you ring it,
A song is no song 'til you sing it,
And love in your heart
Wasn’t put there to stay -
Love isn’t love
'Til you give it away

Sound of Music, "You Are Sixteen (Reprise)"

springtime

Awake, thou wintry earth
Fling off thy sadness!
Fair vernal flowers,
laugh forth
Your ancient gladness!

counting my blessings

Gratitude is the fairest blossom
which springs from the soul.
~Henry Ward Beecher
i'm truly overwhelmed
by the amazing support
from all my friends
who helped make my show
a huge success
thank-you
to dede and mary
for your love and encouragement
without you there would have been no show
to cathy and ann-marie
for opening their wonderful home
and hosting my show
to ron
for helping me face my fears
and guiding me though them
to my art friends
for traveling the distance
to all my friends and clients
who have all been
"cheerleaders"
and my new friends
thank-you
thank-you

For whatever we lose
(like a you or a me),
It's always our self
we find in the sea.

just outside san francisco
for the background i used
sounding maps from lake ontario
then added some clear wax and cheesecloth
and some umber oil paint to
highlight the texture
